Sunny and cheerful, today’s birthday card is a floral delight that will not wilt or fade. It’s time to play with The Paper Players!

This week the talented Joanne is hosting our sketch challenge. Joanne is a master of design and her sketches are always fun. I used a lovely pattern from Stampin’ Up!’s Floral Delight designer series paper collection, letting the paper be the star. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

Colors of the Day

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
Oh, my! Gorgeous paper! Texture! Sparkle! And GASP! Imagine my reaction when I noticed, while writing up my post, that the sentiment was crooked. It didn’t look that way when I was taking the pictures … and boy was snapping the shots of this card an adventure in itself. Yep, I was going to brave the arctic blast and take them outdoors. I donned my snow boots, two sweaters, my stocking hat and coat, gathered up my card and camera, and headed for the Great Outdoors. But I just couldn’t bring myself to kneel down onto the frozen turf to snap the shot. These old-lady knees just couldn’t take it. The Boxer kids were watching from the window. I’m sure they were saying, “Are you crazy Mama? Get back inside before the frost bites your people paws!” That said, I took the pix in the warmth of the Great Indoors. Of course, the card had already been sent out. It would have been an easy fix for sure, but what’s done is done. I hope the recipient is dazzled by the sparkle. (Those Drusy adhesive backed embellishments are certainly “shiners” for sure.) I hope she is awed by this lovely Floral Delight paper. (I even fussy-cut three of the blossoms from the paper and popped them up on dimensionals to add depth.) I hope she appreciates the textured Pool Party snippets behind the sentiment. (I used the Sale-A-Bration Starstruck embossing folder. Who doesn’t love a freebie!) I hope instead of a crooked sentiment, she sees and feels the love that goes into making a hand-made card. I know she will. At the end of the day, I embraced my mistake. In the overall scheme of life, what’s a few off-kilter millimeters between friends?

Wonderful card!!! I love letting the DSP be the star!!! I am certain that your friend will love it!!! I don’t blame you for not getting down in your knees in the snow!!! Take the pictures fireside for the next month or so!!!
I love that you and Joanne showcased this gorgeous paper. I also love that you double up a couple of the florals to add depth. The little ribbons are the perfect finishing touch.
hugs
jaydee
I loved that you and Joanne were on the same wavelength, two beautiful cards with that gorgeous suite! The popped up flowers and the gingham bring that little extra something, along with the cute bows on either end of the sentiment. I hadn’t even noticed the sentiment being ever so slightly uneven until I read your post and I’ll bet your friend won’t notice it either, because she’ll be too thrilled having received it in the mail!
I see NOTHING wrong with this beautiful card! Gingham, flowers, blue & yellow….it’s all good to me!
barely noticeable! i’ve learned to EMBRACE my mistakes LOL …..
This paper deserves to be the star and I especially like the way you’ve made it even better by adding some popped up flowers and gorgeous glittery centres. Had you not mentioned the crooked sentiment, I’d not have noticed it given how wonderful the surroundings were. I’ve had similar experiences though – all looked great when I finished a project, took the photo and then… in the post you notice the flaw. Shame you can’t unsee it at that point! Have a lovely week! 🙂 PS Enjoyed your tale of near-outdoor photography!
Yellow is my favorite color and this Floral Delight DSP stole my heart right away. Your spectacular card has so many subtle touches. I just love it! Stay warm there in Iowa…here in the Pacific NorthWET, we have been having unusual weather. Clear skies! In fact, we are more than 2” under our normal rainfall for January. The webs between my fingers are shrinking (Oregon joke) and we’re all praying for rain.
Ann, this DSP is fabulous! I love the gingham and I did not notice the sentiment wasn’t straight. I am too busy looking at those gorgeous flowers. Love how you fussy cut a few and popped them up. Just lovely! Have a great week!
Like the idea of making the paper as the focal, pretty
First up – I think if the background label wasn’t gingham, you’d never notice the sentiment. Secondly, I was too busy looking at the fabulous floral background – ahem, two for two my friend – we are so on the same wavelength!! Kudos on the fussy-cut decoupage styling – I would not have thought of that and it looks fab!! I didn’t notice the embossing until I saw the close-up and I really like that added detail too. All in all, a fab card Ann!
Magnificent, as always. Thanks for sharing!
