Winter Wishes

What better way to send Winter Wishes to someone than with a trio of graceful deer! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Winter wishes

It’s time for our monthly theme challenge, and I love what our hostess, the amazing Joanne, has in store for us:  Four Legged Friends.

I used a new set from the September – December Mini Catalog called Graceful Deer for my winter wishes card.  I love images that feature deer, so I could not pass this set by.  It will be available for purchase starting September 6th.  As an animal lover, I can’t wait to see what beasties will be found in the gallery this week. Won’t you play along with us?

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Holiday cards are a breeze when using the Graceful Deer set.  This card practically made itself. I heat embossed the image in gold for a touch of elegance, added a few Distressed Gold die cuts, and “popped” up a sentiment which had been stamped in Cherry Cobbler.   To add interest, a touch of Cherry Cobbler ink was added to the little bird perched in the tree. Gold Festive Pearls add a little bling!

Nueve’s Notes

Hey, everyone! It’s me, Nueve! Mom, Dad, Sixxy and I have been playing show dog. Well, actually I am the only one playing show dog. Dad drives the van, and Mom does all the rest of the work of getting me ready to play with Michelle.  As for Sixxy, she has to come ’cause she can’t be home by herself. She would be naughty. Mom counted up all the days we were gone from home, and we were gone 26 sleeps during August. Mom is tired of being away from home. But I don’t mind it. Mom always makes sure Sixxy and I have our favorite toys and she covers the beds with sheets from home, just in case we are ‘lergic to the soap the motel uses. These are the same sheets that Great Aunt Muffy, Great Uncle Brody, Cousin Lexi, Uncle Jackie, and Uncle Q used when they were playing show dog.  Mom said we have to use these same sheets ’cause they are a tradition. I’m not sure what a tradition is, but I think it means something is old, faded and raggedy, like these sheets.

Sadly I didn’t win any Best of Breed ribbons during August. But you know what? My baby girls did! Raven and Journey live in Canada. They went to their very first dog show last weekend, and Raven won Best Baby Puppy in Breed and #1 Baby Puppy in the Guardian Group two days in a row.  Journey won Baby Puppy Best of Breed one day. Everyone says my baby girls look like me, but I am much bigger.  Raven is on the left and Journey is on the right. They are five months old.

While we were in Kentuckie, Mom had pictures taken of me.  She needs them for things called “ads”, which she puts in dog show magazines.  It was really hot, and I was panting a lot. So Michelle lifted me up and put me on top of a giant water sprinkler.  Michelle is SO strong.  The water shooted up all around us like it was dancing. It was so much fun! We both got soaked. Michelle had on her show clothes, but she didn’t even care! The photoshooter man said they were the BEST pictures he has ever taken. Here is his favorite:

Michelle was laughing the whole time. She said I looked like a drowned rat.  I have never seen a rat, let alone a drowned one, so I guess I just have to trust her. Michelle said it has always been her dream to do something crazy like play in a fountain.  Yep, helping make people’s dreams come true is just part of my job. I’m a working dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!

The gold embossing adds a stunning elegance to your otherwise simple card and I love the pop of red too – so festive. Great pup photos too – the sprinkler ones are awesome!

  3. Very elegant looking card. The deer images embossed in the gold are really pretty and that touch of red on the little bird was perfect. – Enjoyed the update on your sweet dog and that photo of you getting soaked is awesome.

  4. What a great image to use for the challenge…this new stamp is quite pretty and makes for an impressive image when embossed! The photos of the “drowned rat” were pretty good too, although it’s hot enough here that I wouldn’t mind a run through a sprinkler myself!

  5. Ann, Your scene of deer is just beautiful. It reminds me of the deer that often visit our neighborhood. We saw twin fawns this past spring.
