Sympathy cards are difficult for me to make. That is why I always try to have one or two already made in case the sad occasion arises where I need one. However, this time a dear sweet friend passed away last weekend, and I wanted to make a card that held meaning for her life, and from which her family would draw comfort. Marge, this oceanfront heartfelt sympathy card is for you. It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!
This week, the talented LeAnne is hosting our theme challenge. She selected a great summer theme for us: At the Beach! My card was inspired by the upper left picture. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
(I have no tips today. Just a reflection on Marge’s passing. All of the details on how to make this card can be found in the free tutorial.) Marge was one of the first parents I met when I started teaching 47 years ago. What a gem she was! She knew just the right things to say to make a new teacher feel right at home. A talented crafter, a fabulous cook, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marge was a beacon in the community where she lived for 85 years. I was both blessed and humbled to call her my friend. One of the things Marge loved was the beach. Her entire family does. Her daughter, whom I taught, makes a trek with friends from Iowa to Myrtle Beach every year. Her granddaughter, whom I also taught, was married beachside. In fact, they are celebrating Marge’s life this holiday weekend at a local lakeside beachfront. I knew that today’s card would have special meaning for the entire family. While Marge’s passing saddens all who knew and loved her, she passed with grace and dignity in the home she had lived in for nearly sixty years, surrounded by her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. I know their memories of her will bring them comfort, as mine do me.
