This week, the talented Laurie is hosting our monthly Clean and Simple challenge:  Gnomes & Fairies.  I love fairies and gnomes, so I can’t wait to see what you create.  But, before you head off to grab stamps, papers and inks, remember that clean and simple cards have:

  • minimal layers
  • few to no embellishments
  • lots of clean white space (minimal patterns)

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Since I had “nary a fairy” and “gno gnome” in my stash of stamps, I decided to create the wildly popular punch art gnome.  I haven’t made a punch art card in years.  I had forgotten how much fun they are to create.  In the case of the gnome, the biggest hurdle was in finding dies and punches to use that kept body parts somewhat in “gnomelike” scale.  The large hat was created with the Pine Tree punch, while the shimmery white beard was made using a leaf die from the Seasonal Labels collection. My biggest hurdle was in finding something from which to punch the shoes. I ended up using the larger leaf from the Flowers & Leaves punch.   The Merry Melody 3D embossing folder added texture and interest, while keeping things clean and simple.
