It’s Thursday, and time to play with the Sketch Team at Pals Paper Arts! The cooler temperatures these days are definitely turning my thoughts to the impending winter and the holiday season. Beth Beard’s sketch seemed a perfect fit for the Wrapped in Warmth stamp set and Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack. I can definitely see myself creating a few more of these cards to drop in the mail this December!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.
Selective inking adds a custom look to this sweet sentiment. Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black Stampin’ Write Markers were my colors of choice. A small Gold Metallic Enamel circle adds a touch of sparkle.
Keeping with the touches of gold elegance, two Gold Foil Christmas trees were cut using the Perfect Pines Framelits. I love the look of gold against the Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black plaid designer paper.
To soften the look of the Basic Black card stock banner, a loop of Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine was added.
The new Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder creates a very deep embossed impression, which was just perfect for this card. I truly love all the texture it imparts. This is a great sketch, and I had so many ideas on how to use it. I can’t wait to create more cards with it!
Resting Up
Jackie had a very good weekend in Wilmot, Wisconsin recently. Although he did not earn his champion title, he was “invited to the dance” as we say. He won his huge class both days, and showed like a rock star. We are taking the next two weekends off, after which we will head to Freeport, IL. He is such a goofy boy. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t bring a smile to my face!
As always, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…
Love this, especially the sweater and the plaid! Hooray for Jackie!
Your natural ability to make beautiful cards is astonishing. Love how your foil has not one mark on them!
What a beautiful card Ann!From the cable knit EF to the sentiment to the gorgeous gold trees.
I love the Cable Knit Embossing with those gold trees. Simply gorgeous!
I just love your Christmas card! Your choice of DSP with the Cable Knit Embossing Folder is a winning pair for sure! Gorgeous card Ann!
Ann such a nice card. I really like the way the colors pop… and what a great tip about the softening the black with touch a of gold… thanks for that!
I love the cable knit design… I even have a “sweater cover plate die” that would work wonderfully with this.
Jackie peeking out his snout is too cute!
Hugs.
As warm as a new cable knit sweater for Christmas! Beautiful for the holidays!
Does this Cable Knit folder really make deeper impressions? I like the way it looks in your card.
Your card is beautiful and reminds me of Christmas presents and sweaters! It’s hot here, though! Thank you for cooling me down, Ann!
The cable knit and plaid make me feel all warm and cheery! The gold is perfect with the colors.
Aaw, isn’t Jackie sweet? He’ll be a champion in no time.
Love that plaid with the gold trees, Ann. I love the rustic feel of the cable on the card base. All your wonderful elements pulled together into a fantastic card, as always!
What a winner of a card and isn’t Jackie a winner too? I love the black on the card. The cable embossing folder just makes this look like a big cuddly throw to snuggle up with and the rest just invites snuggling up and keeping toasty warm. Love the little face peaking out from the blanket of Jackie. Thanks for the tip on the foil not that I have used foil. Great job as always!
Beautiful card. Love the gold foil elements and the two tone verse. TFS
Beautiful card Ann. It screams warmth and happy memories.
Love the card! Cherry Cobbler is such a great shade to use for Christmas cards. More elegant than Real Red. That’s the first time I have seen the embossing folder – really like it!
I’d be interested in your reply to Debbie’s question re: foil paper run through the Big Shot. All tips are a huge help to anyone looking at other blogs. Even though it’s not the Christmas season I still love this card. I am not in the Christmas mood as yet. Maybe Oct. of Nov.
Hi, Pal! Beautiful card as always!! Do you have a tip or trick to keep the foil paper looking great after cranking it through the Big Shot? Inquiring minds want to know! I have been fearful to do much with it because it can show the marks of the pads.
Hi, Debbie! I don’t do anything special other than I have a set of plates I use just for foil. When they get too used, and start to leave marks, I get a new set out. I am also careful where I place the die on the plates…seeking out unused sections when I can.
