Muffy News and Retired SU! Stamps For Sale

Muffy After Being Spayed

There will be no more Mini-Muffins.  After searching my heart,  I made the decision to spay her.  She had surgery Tuesday morning.  In addition, two small growths were removed from two of her “niblets”.  I was able to bring her home Wednesday afternoon.

Muffy with Litter

Muffy was a wonderful mother, who put everything she had into raising a litter of six happy and healthy puppies.  But motherhood took it’s toll on her body.  She just never seemed to bounce back completely after delivery, which included an emergency C-section.  After seeing her black muzzle turn silver in a matter of weeks, I made the decision to never raise a second litter from her.   Muffy did her job the first time, presenting me with a beautiful son, Jack, who will hopefully leave his mark in the show ring.   In addition, Kia, Kelsi (Bunny), Kenzie (Kash), Macy (Mira) and Odin (Chunkers) are making their own history as loving companions.  Kia and Kelsi are show dogs, Kenzie and Odin are performance dogs, and Macy is living the life of a Diva in a Chicago high-rise.  Each have a special place in my heart.

Since Muffy cannot go up and down stairs yet or be with her pack mates, I have been staying with her in the kitchen.  We’ve baked dog treats.  We’ve watched movies on the laptop.  We’ve read books and magazines.  And at night, I spread a blanket out on the hard wooden floor to sleep beside her, while she sleeps on a stack of three dog beds.  But it is the least I can do for this girl who has filled my heart with so much joy since the first day she entered my life.

  1. I haven’t checked in here for a while and I’m always interested in what the gang is up to. Tough decision about Muffy, but it shows you are a breeder who has the best interests of your dogs at the top of your list of priorities. Looks like she produced a fabulous litter and I’m sure you will keep us updated on their doings. I hope!

Muffy is very lucky to have ended up in your home and I wish every dog out there had such a home. It breaks my heart everytime I hear of an atrocity on the news – such as a recent seizure of 66 dogs from a puppy mill here in British Columbia. When people put profits ahead of the welfare of the animals in their possession, it really is criminal.

Hoping for a quick recovery for Muffy – give her a hug from me!

  2. Anything you can do to make Muffy’s life better, I’m all for. I come from a family of farmers and ranchers who’ve tried to tell me all my life about “working animals,” to no avail! She was a wonderful mother and had beautiful pups, but enough is enough. More snuggling with you!!!

  3. Wishing Muffy all the best as she recovers from her spay. She’s got a dedicated nurse in you and will soon be on the road to her playful self again. She gave you some beautiful pups and they all will do her (and you) proud. My (sleepy) Lexi sends Muffy schnauzer kisses and wishes her a speedy recovery.

  4. Ann you are such a good mamma! Not many would sleep on the floor for their Pet. Love reading the news, I’m sure you made the right choice for her. Hugs.

  5. Dear Ann: First of all, I thank you so much for sharing the stories of this wonderful and amazing dogs, specially Muffy’s Journey into motherhood. We delighted seeing her sweet and gorgeous little babies’ pictures hours after they were born and we watched them grow and play and turn, from chubby balls of fur into amazing and beautiful show dogs.
Muffy was a wonderful mom and her beautiful babies are healthy and fabulous, in a way it’s to sad she can’t have any more puppies but her health must come first.
Sending healing thoughts her way Ann, with your love and attentions she will bounce back in no time.
Give her a big hug from me, all the way from Crown Point, Indiana.
    Maria.

  6. You are a great mom! I’m glad she is doing well! Hope you are back in your own comfy bed soon. Thanks so much for the enamel dots! We’ve sold our home and are downsizing, so I’ve been busy! Love and hugs!

  7. Muffy is so very special and your love for her shines thru, Ann. You are extra special to your fur babies. One special Mommy and lady! Rest and feel better, Muffy!

  8. Wishing Muffy a speedy recovery. You are a wonderful mother to your fur babies.

  9. I’m sure it was hard to know that there would be no more Mini Muffins, but you made the right decision for Muffy. You are such a devoted, loving “mother” to your furry friends! Hope she’s feeling better soon!

  10. Muffy is gracefully going through another chapter in the book of life. It’s time for her to be a Diva! She will give you even more love as you will love her in return.

  11. This message brought tears to my eyes as I lost two beautiful dogs to cancer over the years. They bring so much joy to ones life. Only those people who fill their lives with animals can understand the love and caring you give to your dogs. Good for you.

Now Muffy will have more time to write her book on her adventures in the ring and motherhood as well as being a twin! She and Brody have a lot to tell. She is so gorgeous. It’s a hard decision. She will be up and around in no time giving Jack tips and pointers for winning not that he needs any! Hope you can get some much needed rest yourself!

  13. I am sure deciding that Muffy would have no more litters was a very hard decision. But you did what was best for her. You are a good Mama and made the right decision. The love she will give you for it will more than make up for no more litters. God bless you.

  14. Muffy’s health and well being are more important than having more babies so great call. She was a great mom, had beautiful babies and now it’s time to kick back and be a pet. She always has her football if she gets the desire to nurture babies again. You’re a beauty Miss Muffy!

  15. Smart choice, end while on top. She is so sweet and did a great job…. love your stories about your fur babies. I have a Mastiff and a St Bernard, and every animal is immediately fixed before they come home…. both of mine had papers but I had no intention of pups since both of my boys were rescues…… did one litter when I was younger, what an adventure. So thrilled all her pups are in awesome homes and well loved. Your babies are beautiful and are lucky to share their life with you….

  16. What a loving tribute – Muffy couldn’t ask for a better mother. I hope you kept her fish handy : )

  17. Sorry to hear about Muffy. I hope she starts feeling better soon. Good luck with your sale of retired stamps and other products. The mini muffins are beautiful and it’s obvious you love them all.

  18. Since I’m not familiar with the names of the SU items, do you have them in the shop so I can come by and see them in person for purchase?
