Just like every house should be built upon a strong foundation, every card should begin with a great sketch…and that is exactly what Joanne has for us in this week’s The Paper Players challenge! I decided to get a start on my holiday cards, so I used the new Dove of Peace stamp set. Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.
- Black isn’t just for Halloween! Shimmery Black Glimmer paper paired with gold foil makes an elegant and sophisticated color combination. Isn’t the Black and Gold striped paper fabulous? It’s from the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper collection.
- White on gold! The Dove was embossed with white on Gold Foil paper.
Because I wanted to use the Dove without the sentiment, I simply cut it off, rather than mask it. I had an extra wooden block handy, so I will mount the sentiment onto it before I use it.
- Foiled again! I love the look of a small Gold Metallic Doily adhered over the Gold Foil circle. A Winter Wonderland embellishment in the center is the perfect touch.
This is one of those cards which just doesn’t photograph well. Of course, I shot a few pictures using my light tent, but I really wasn’t satisfied. So I tried the mantel…
and was happy with the how the Black Glimmer Paper sparkled. I also shot one outside on top of the mailbox.
I think this shot shows off the glimmer paper well, too. At any rate, I can tell you it is VERY pretty in person, as one of my customers will find out…I will be sending it out this winter. But I do have to share this funny with you: I always have my husband, Kim, critique my card when I am finished. In typical husband fashion, Kim said it was very pretty, but he wondered why I used the word “peach”. It took him a minute or two until it dawned on him it said “peace”. Needless to say, we both got a giggle out of it.

We are still waiting on the results of Brody’s biopsy. It’s the waiting which is so stressful. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts. As soon as we know anything, I will let you know. As for Jack and Kia, they will be heading out next Thursday for the Cedar Valley Boxer Club Specialty show in Amana, Iowa. They are still too young to show, but they are going to hang out with the big dogs, socialize, and be passed around to spend time with different people. In the meantime, Jack is catching up on his beauty sleep.
I hope you enjoyed your visit today. What did you think of today’s card? Won’t you let me know in your comment? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. Of course, if you have any questions about today’s card, don’t hesitate to email me! Until next time…

Wow, Ann~ this is incredibly beautiful!!! This sketch has me totally intimidated and look at what you’ve done with it… just fabulous!
An absolutely gorgeous card as always! The dove is so beautiful embossed, and the black and gold colors so elegant for the holidays. My thoughts are with you and Brody.
Such a gorgeous design with so many well-thought elements! It took my breath away!
I thought you had die cut the dove. I realized you had embossed it. It a very elegant
card!! Going to have to make a few of these. Thanks for the inspiration.
The black and gold really makes a beautiful card. That dove is gorgeous and I really like that black glitter paper!
Absolutely beautiful card, Ann. I adore the black + gold for the holidays–so elegant! The dove is gorgeous embossed on gold foil–bravo! Big hugs to you and Brody…
Sure am enjoying your card here at Stamping Peace! : ). Praying that everything goes well for your beloved Brody.
The card is stunning! I am not a fan of the ‘coloring book’ thing. I did not order this stamp, because of that… I have to say I am second guessing it now! I do like the plain, no colored look. And heat embossed in white!!!! Looove it! You so rocked this stamp!
I too have cut stamps apart. the last being that Tulips wrapped in newspaper (I can’t for the life of me remember that name of that stamp! Something about Kindness). But can always use it together if need be!
Thank you for sharing. A great inspiration!

Very pretty and elegant card. The black, gold and the embossed white makes for a very rich looking card.
You think your darling hubby was wanting/ hungry for some peaches? :} I have done that myself; see a word and think it’s something completely different.
Ann, thinking positive thoughts on this end that Brody gets a good report from Dr.
Thoughts and prayers be with you during this stressful time
What a beautiful, elegant card! I absolutely love the white embossed dove on the gold paper, just gorgeous! I can’t wait to dig into my Winter Wonderland DSP and the black Glimmer Paper, you have really showcased it beautifully with this card! Keeping Brody and all of you in my prayers, hope you get word soon, I know how hard it is to wait for test results. Big hugs to all of you!
Ann, you’re card is lovely! The peaceful dove is beautiful embossed and really looks so graceful. I wouldn’t think to use this color combo for Christmas (why not?) but I really like it. So funny about Kim thinking the word was peach. ; )
I’ve been thinking about your boy and hoping for good news. You’re in my thoughts as time passes. Lil Jack is adorable sleeping peacefully!
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday!
Beautiful card. Jack looks darling. Fingers crossed for Brody.
