Watercolor Wings for The Paper Players

IMG_2591It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!  It’s a sketch challenge from the talented Nance Leedy this week.  I felt it was a perfect sketch for inking up my new Watercolor Wings set for the first time.  I hope you enjoy this “glittered and rhinestoned” beauty.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Blinged butterfly! The larger butterfly images from Watercolor Wings were inked using Soft Suede, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand inks. The smaller Bold Butterfly Framelits die was cut from vellum and covered in Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.  A few Rhinestones were added for extra bling.

  • You’ve got a friend! The Friend sentiment from Awesomely Artistic was inked with Soft Suede and stamped directly onto the Soft Sky Script pattern from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.

  • A Brick Wall!  The new Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder forms the perfect background.  To make each brick “pop”, Sahara Sand ink was added using a sponge.  This adds definition to the edges of the bricks.

IMG_2591-003We have been plagued with severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches here in SE Iowa over the past week.  Unfortunately we lost a huge limb from the shade tree in the front yard during the last storm.  Luckily, no one was hurt.  It fell right where I take the babies out to potty! Yikes!

Downed TreeSpeaking of potty, potty training is now in full force.  Most of my day is spent outside with a puppy or two in tow! Luckily, they are catching on very quickly. Their days are spent eating, sleeping, playing  and pottying. Lexi is a great “big sister”, and loves snuggling with Jack.

IMG_3339I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I love the new Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I think it will be one of my new favorites! How about you? Have you discovered your newest “go-to” item from the new catalog? If you have, won’t you let me know in today’s comment? And don’t forget…it you have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next tme…

  6. Lovely card, Ann; I have always liked butterflies and was so excited to see the Brick Wall EF in the new catalog. It is amazing how fast the puppy event happened! TFS the picture of Lexi and Jack, so cute! Had to have surgery on my right wrist and thumb so am out of commission for a while. Frustrating as I have new toys to play with and cannot! So glad no one and that your house was not damaged with the tree branch! Crazy year for weather! Hugs

  10. Ann I’m soooo busy with the grandkids visiting for 3 weeks, but just happen to stop and peek today. This card is so gorgeous and I just can’t wait to order the brick embossing folder… have to wait until July for 3 rd quarter! Sorry about your tree though. I hate to see the old HUGE trees get ravaged in storms. Took so long to get there and gone in a flash. Glad no one was near. Hugs.

  11. Ann, this is pure Schach-i-liciousness! So perfectly “you” and so beautiful. Love the colors, the layers and the collage stamping is fantastic. Thanks for rockin’ my sketch. So glad everyone–furbabies too–is okay in your house. ((hugs))

  12. Such a lovely card Ann.
The picture of the furbabies is so cute. Your little boy sure isn’t little anymore.
Our Cookie isn’t doing so well. Poor baby girl. She has a lot going on.
Thank goodness the storm passed without you and your family getting hurt.

  13. Your card is simply stunning! I just had to pop over here from TPP blog to see your card in person. There is so much rich texture and eye candy here! I’m so glad everyone is okay.

Gorgeous card! I have been waiting for someone to sponge the brick wall EF and I knew you would! That is astonishingly gorgeous. Loving all those amazing details! This is one of my most favorite cards!

When we came back last Saturday night there was half a tree down on the house to the left of us and a huge limb down on the house to the right. We just had a small dead piece and lots of sticks. I think about every night we have had a thunder storm too. Teddy and I went to the basement the other day with the tornado sirens went off.

Glad nobody was hurt. Jack is so cute with his big sister! One of our new neighbors has a boxer that is maybe 9 months old. They have no control over it and it wants to play so badly with Teddy. I was willing but his mom tried to drag it to the house the best she could with it wailing to high heaven! Maybe they can play soon.

  19. Stunning card Ann! So many beautiful details and the colors are very soothing.

  20. Would you please repeat the post about the Awesomely Artistic card from June 25? It did not come through for some of us. Thanks.

    • Hi, Nancy! The post you are asking about will go live on July 23rd. I mistakenly used the wrong Pals Paper Arts sketch. The decision was made to pull the card from the PPA page and for me to unschedule my post. So…it will be back in less than a month. lol

  21. Love your card and the colors! I just got the new brick wall EF but haven’t had a chance to use it yet.

  22. I just found your website via the paper Players, OMG I love your cards I haven’t seen one on your page that I don’t want to case. You do awesome cards. Thank you for sharing.

    • Thanks for the sweetness, Joyce! I am thrilled you like my work. I just wish I had more free time to create more!

  25. Oh Ann! This might be one of my all time favorites EVER! I love every single detail, design, layout, color! Jaw dropping gorgeousness! I have no words for how much I love this one!

  26. Gorgeous! Love the colors and your beautiful touches.

    • Thanks for the sweetness, Lisa! I was a little unsure about the colors for the butterfly at first. But they really worked well together 🙂

  27. Beautiful card. Love the colors and the stamp sets you used.

  28. Wow!!! This is a gorgeous card…I love everything about it. Thanks for sharing. Love the photos of the fur babies also. Jack is such a beautiful color and I bet he is at a fun and entertaining age. Enjoy him.

    • Thanks, Traci! Jack is sooo much fun! He is a delightful puppy…and super smart. But boy, can he sure snore! lol

  29. Love the colors, love the card and love your talent. I just can’t thank you enough for sharing this beauty and all the others you design. You are my go to blog when I need inspiration.

  30. Ann, this is just gorgeous! I love the sponged brick embossed wall! The butterfly is striking! The vellum over lay is so delicate and sparkly! Beautiful!!! As always, your attention to detail is amazing! So happy no one was hurt in the storm! Take care! Good luck with potty training. I work on that all week with my Grand daughter! LOL!

    • Thanks, Claire! We are very fortunate. Jack, Kia and I had been in that very spot less than an hour before it came crashing down. God was watching over us for sure! Jack is doing great with his potty training efforts…Kia is a work in progress. lol

  31. I like the combo of the brick wall with the softness of the butterflies. Beautiful card, Ann. I’m so glad no one was hurt in your recent storm!!

    • Thanks, Mitzi! We were fortunate indeed that no one was hurt! I LOVE this new folder. It fills a void we had in our embossing folder line-up! I can see myself using it tons!!!

  32. I love, love, love this card. It is just beautiful. Your butterfly is so neat. Thanks for sharing. Thankful no one was hurt when the limb came down.

    • Thanks, Terri! I really enjoyed making this card. I am so thankful, too. The pups and I had been in that very spot earlier in the day.

  33. Wow! That’s beautiful, Ann!

  34. Ann, this stamp set is on my wish list from the moment I saw it, I just love all of the images and my mind is in overdrive from the awesome possibilities it offers.
Your card is a glorious example of these possibilities, I just love the way you layered that butterfly with the Vellum one, simply lovely.
The brick embossed background is perfect and the colors you chose beautiful.
Thank you for the update on the puppies, I love this picture of Lexi and Jack.

    • Oh, and that branch falling right there where your puppies go potty is a very scary picture. Thank goodness no one was around when this happened.

    • Thanks so much, Maria! I felt like the larger butterfly needed a little something extra, so I opted to layer. Lexi and Jack are becoming great friends!
