It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the lovely LeAnne is hosting a sketch challenge. I used the opportunity to make another spring card to accompany a gift. I really love the Kindness Is Love stamp set. Those little tulips just cry out for paper piecing! Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This folded card measures 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.
- Piece! The Tulip image was stamped three times: once onto Whisper White cardstock, once onto Rose Red Polka Dot Paper (from the Regals Background Designer Series Paper Stack), and once onto Typeset Designer Series Paper. The stems were watercolored green using a Blender Pen and Wild Wasabi ink. The Rose Red tulips were snipped out and adhered. The same was done with the Typeset “newprint”. Don’t you love the result?
- Butterflies! Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay butterflies, from Papillion Potpourri, accent the sentiment, which is from Mother’s Love. The cursive font is so fresh and modern, and complemented the clean look I was wanting to achieve. I think this sentiment is definitely a keeper!
- Banners! I love the trio of banners in this sketch. I selected the same Rose Red pattern from the flowers…and its flip side…as well as the Typeset pattern.
This tulip image takes me back to my childhood days. My mother grew the most beautiful tulips, in addition to many other types of flowers. There were irises and roses, peonies and poppies…and so many more. There was always a bouquet on the table. Unfortunately, I never inherited her green thumb. Her love of animals…yes. Her green thumb…no. Maybe that is why I buy so many floral stamps! It’s one way I can surround myself with flowers.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. If you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

I love everything about this, Ann! Those polka dot tulips are fabulous and the butterflies add such wonderful dimension. I haven’t said it in awhile but this is “Schach-tastic!”
Ann, the red and white with the newsprint is fabulous and I love how you tied the banners to the newsprint, too. Gorgeous card!

Ann love the bold colors for the tulips here. This is the first time I’ve seen this stamp used in something other than pastels. Love this take on the DSP tulips! hugs.

What a beautiful card. It reminds me that warmer days are coming . 🙂
Wow, I really love this! You probably know by now I think polka dots are among the happiest things on earth so this card makes me so happy!
Beautiful card Ann and those cute polka dot tulips are a sure sign of Spring.
My best to Muffy along with the rest of the clan. Can’t wait to see the pictures of the little Muffins. Won’t be long now.
Beautiful card, Ann! All that delicious white space is a perfect backdrop for the bold red tulips and layers.
Fabulous card! Love what you did with the bouqet. I can just picture your mother’s beautiful flower garden.
This is just lovely…I love the rich colors you used and how you paper pieced the image! You have WAY more patience than I do! And your butterflies are a wonderful touch! Very pretty! Thanks for rocking my sketch, Ann!
Your paper piecing is just perfect! Love the colors you chose, too, so fun for a spring card!
Ann, I adore the paper pieced, polka dot tulips! They are my favorite Spring flower! I love the story about your Mom. Mine was the same way. We always had cut flowers in our home. I don’t have a green thumb either! At least, we can stamp and color! Your card is wonderful, My Friend! XX
Gorgeous Ann – those tulips look great when paper pieced with the polka dot paper. Tulips are one of my favourite flowers and I would love them whatever the colour! Love the over-stamped newsprint too. A great take on the sketch – such a fresh, clean card!
Darling, such talent……..
Beautiful!!!!
Just love it Ann, so pretty !! Like always
Hugs Frenchie,
Beautiful, Ann! I keep seeing such great projects with that stamp set that it just may be time to put it on my next order. 🙂
So clever how you added more newsprint! The way you do flowers, Ann, they can last much longer! I remember a neighbor (growing up in Illinois) who had rows and rows of peonies! They smelled so good and she shared with everyone. Today, I don’t see peonies very often in California. But when the grocery store gets some, I always buy plenty! Thanks for the memories, Ann!
So beautiful, Ann! Love the paper piecing.
