Dreaming of Spring for The Paper Players

IMG_1663-002It’s Sunday…and time to play with The Paper Players!  This week Laurie is hosting a theme challenge…Think Spring! When I think of spring, I think of butterflies and blossoms.  I selected a gorgeous pattern from the Painted Blooms Designer Paper collection, grabbed my two butterfly punches and got to work.  Because I think of spring as fresh, new beginning after a dark and dreary winter, I wanted to make sure my card had lots of white space.  Enjoy!pp234The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • A bloomin’ banner!  Beautiful paper makes a beautiful banner, don’t you think? I made sure to center one of the flowers in the middle of the banner, and added a double Blackberry Bliss bow.

  • Bloomin’ bling! Pearls, tinted with a Dark Wisteria Wonder Blendability, accent the centers of the smaller blossoms, while a sequin adorns the center of the larger bloom.  Of course, I just had to add pearls to the butterfly!

  • Dreaming of spring!  “Dream” seemed like the perfect sentiment for this card.  With the subzero wind chills and record low temps we have been experiencing here in SE Iowa, I can only dream of warmer days!  This adorable little sentiment is from the Think Happy stamp set.

Today’s card was a simple card, but I felt it captured what I think of when I “think spring”.  I am curious to learn what YOU think of when YOU think spring.  Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and everyone of them.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  3. WONDERFULLY FABULOUS! I love this DSP and hate to use any of it…silly me, we have two sheets of each design…maybe if I order another package I will be more tempted to use it! Hope SU! decides to give us more of this special paper! Your design is as always fabulous….love the colors, your added sequins and pearls!

  4. Ann, I just love the background and the white space makes that gorgeous DSP pop! Blackberry Bliss is a favorite of mine! I am dreaming of Spring on this rainy, dreary day! Thanks for making me smile! XX

  5. That’s gorgeous and you know what? The first place my mind went was to the prom. The flowers were the girl’s dress and corsage. The bow was the boy’s tie, and the raised diamond shapes were the pleats in his shirt. Crazy I know, but how wonderful that your art can dredge up such images and feelings!!

  6. This is so very pretty! The patterned paper is beautiful and I love your layout and colors. All the white space ties everything together wonderfully.

  7. I love the rich colors and the fabulous details! The bow is the perfect touch! Gorgeous! Once the snow melts, I can think about venturing up your way for a stamping’ retreat. 🙂

  8. Your card DOES remind me of spring! I love the beautiful flowers and butterflies. I can’t wait to plant some flowers….hurry up spring!

  9. I like the way you wrapped the bow around the banner. Another new idea from your design studio!

  10. I feel a CASE coming on. I’m so glad I got that paper. I don’t have that ribbon but may have something that would work. Beautiful!!!

  11. So pretty, Ann! I love this DSP and you made it center stage where it needs to be! Your cards always have a special touch that I wish I could put my finger on but it is so much more than just pearls! You are such a talented artist! (BTW any word on Faith?)

  12. What a gorgeous card Ann – the perfect way to showcase that beautiful DSP. Those pretty flowers really take centre stage against the white background and I love your coloured pearl accents. I’m dreaming of Spring here too – I’m done with Winter now!

  13. So pretty, Ann! I love how you embossed the background (I never think to do that), and how you used blackberry as the predominant color. It provides such beautiful contrast against the white space.

  14. What a pretty way to use this DSP, Ann! Flowers and butterflies are perfect for spring. Love your colored pearls, too!

  15. I love the watercolor effect you created here, Ann! What a stunning card! Great use of white space, too!

  16. This card is sooo pretty! I love what you did with the DSP! The scored background is beautiful and makes me think of a trellis supporting beautiful flowers! I am so ready for spring and sitting out on my swing on our back deck!

  17. Oh Ann, what a beautiful card, I love how you framed this beautiful snippet of DSP and how the butterflies are flying towards this pretty blooms.
I wish I could say that Spring is in the air but, for us up here in the frozen tundra, Winter still reigns.
Thank you for sharing this gorgeous card, it really made me think Spring.
