Quick and Easy Visions of Santa for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday…and time to play with The Paper Players! This week the talented Sandy has a fun sketch for us.

Since Stampin’ Up! asked me to create a few cards with Visions of Santa and Santa & Co. Designer Series Paper, I decided to give it a go.  This is one of those sets that is polarizing.  I know many people either love it or hate it.  As for me, I felt the myriad of Santas were dancing a weird version of the “YMCA”.  Can’t you just hear The Village People singing, “It’s fun to stay at the…
“Y”
“M”
“C”

OK…so I couldn’t find anything that remotely resembled an “A”, but these jolly old elves were still staying at the “YMCA” in my mind.  At least they were weren’t doing the “Hokey Pokey”…or were they???

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out,

You put your left foot in,
You put your left foot out…

You do the hokey pokey
And you turn yourself around…
 That’s what it’s all about!
Thank goodness they weren’t doing the macarena.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
Today’s card is so simple!
  • The card base is Real Red with a layer of Whisper White card stock on top.
  • The sentiment was inked in Memento Tuxedo Black.
  • Visions of my favorite Santas were punched out with a 1″ square punch and matted onto Basic Black.

I hope you enjoyed today’s fun card. My son, Brady, loved this set the moment he saw it, so this card is earmarked for him.  I know he will get a hoot out of it! I truly think it will appeal to the younger generation. What do you think? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me.  As always, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

(Muffy and I are in Freeport, IL this weekend.  Wish us luck as we continue our quest to create memories!)

  1. I love your naughty rocking Santa card.

    Hugs, Antonia

  2. Ann, this was the perfect sketch to use with the dancing Santas. They really look as though they are at a geriatrics gym class getting ready for all that activity on Christmas Eve. Loved it!

  6. Fantastic card! The only reason I bought this set was for the moose in it, I think the Santa’s are kind of creepy, but you actually made me like them in a way with this card!

  7. Love your sense of humor – your card is great though I am not a fan of these particular Santas…I like the old fashioned ones….you did a great job and love your take on what the Santa’s area dancing to!!!

  8. Have to admit – not my favorite stamp set. But —- you certainly made it appealing. Such a fun, quirky card. I’m still smiling. Love it. Good luck as you continue your journey with Muffy. p.s. still not my favorite stamp set.

  9. You know what? I really don’t care for that set, but I love the card you made AND the images your songs put in my head : ) thanks!

  10. I am LOL at your post, Ann! I love this DSP and you made me look at it in a new light! YMCA is a great interpretation of the dance. But, I am a fan of the Hockey Pockey, too! Best wishes this weekend to you and Muffy! XX

  11. Loved you YMCA take on the Santa paper and stamps. I loved them immediately when i saw the holiday book and I’m a young geezer.
( as in not even close to being an octogenarian) I got the stamp set cause I figured I could make my own paper from the stamps. But your point is well taken as in you will love them or hate them. Oh, I love the card!!!

  12. I am still chuckling – ho-ho! I, too, thought the YMCA and Hokey Pokey when I saw this paper! I love how you captured them on the card though the post was just too funny! Also, maybe doing the aerobic thing too or some ballet steps. This is still a funny card – and one I would love to have just to make me smile! I wonder what Brian King will say? Great job on the card. Have safe travels and you go Muffy, rack up those points!
