Freaky Friends for Pals Paper Arts

It’s Thursday…and we all know what that means! It’s time to play with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts.  This week we have a sketch designed by our resident sketch artist, Nicole Watt.  Before I left for Founder’s Circle, I was contacted by a representative of Stampin’ Up! who asked if I would be willing to create several cards using two stamp sets and Designer Series Paper which they would provide for me.  Upon my return home I found Freaky Friends and Motley Monsters DSP waiting for me, along with Visions of Santa and Santa & Co. paper.  Today’s sketch seemed tailor-made to showcase some of the cute images from Freaky Friends.  I hope you enjoy these cute little monsters!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measure 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Colorific! The adorable images were inked in Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango and Memento Tuxedo Black.  Details were added using Stampin’ Write Markers and Project Life Journaling Pens.  What a motley crew!
  • Coordination! Don’t you LOVE the way Stampin’ Up!’s papers and colors coordinate? It takes the guesswork out of designing.
  • Be scary! Adorable bats accent the “Be Scary” sentiment from the Holiday Invitation set.  I used a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker to add a little color.

What a bright and fun card! Some of the images remind me of the illustrations in the children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are. I have quite a few ideas for using this set, so stay tuned to see what I create.

The Muffy Chronicles

While I was at Founder’s Circle in St George, Utah, Muffy was strutting her stuff in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  She was Best of Opposite to her half-brother, Kit, both Saturday and Sunday.  It was a small show, so she only earned two points toward her Grand title. Her total stands at 15 points (she needs 25), with only a few shows left.  She is such a good traveling companion.  Here she is doing her impression of a lap dog, snoozing on her dad’s lap at one of the shows this summer:

In fact, they are both taking a nap. And here she is again, snoozing away on our recent outing in Manitowoc, WI.  Don’t you love her pink chin?

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  Freaky Friends is an adorable set.  Although it is geared toward the young, I will be sending this one out to Brady, who is definitely young at heart.  I will let you know his reaction.

I have so much to share, including pictures from Founder’s Circle, and the impressions of a first-timer.  But they will have to wait until my next post.  In the meantime, won’t you leave me a comment and let me know what you think of today’s card? And don’t forget, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…
