A Paper Players Color Challenge

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! The talented Sandy Mathis has a trio of gorgeous colors for us this week:  Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron.  I decided to ink up a stamp from the Occasions catalog, So Very Grateful.  I hope you enjoy today’s fun and fresh card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  •  Painted posies! The Floral Spray from So Very Grateful was watercolored using Blender Pens and inks.  The image was stamped a second time, and two fronds of leaves and the center blossom were colored and snipped out.  To add depth, they were popped up on dimensionals.  Pearls bedeck the centers of the flowers for a sweet touch.
  • Tempting texture! The Calypso Coral banner was passed through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  It pairs great with the polka dots, don’t you think?
  • Dotty about dots! I love this Calypso Coral polka dotted paper from the I am Me Designer Series Paper Collection.  It’s a fun pattern.  I will be sad to see it go.  However, I know I will find a paper from the new catalog to take its place!  Of course, the “thank you” sentiment could very easily be replaced with a “birthday” or “thinking of you” sentiment, if desired.

I hope those of you who are celebrating Mother’s Day have a lovely one.  I will spend extra time snuggling with the furbabies today.  Brady is gearing up for his jury and orals, and is not able to come home.  In fact, it will be a few weeks before I get to see him.  After graduation, he is heading to Italy with the University of Missouri Wind Ensemble. Not only will he play, he will also get time for sight-seeing. How awesome!  I’m a little sad that he will not be with me today, but we’ll make certain to celebrate when he does come back. In the meantime, I can reminisce about the earlier years!

As always, your comments are important to me.  Won’t you let me know what you think about today’s card? And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  3. Just gorgeous, Ann! I love the mix of polka dots on the DSP and the banner. Of course, the pearls are the perfect touch. I know I’m late but Happy Mother’s Day, my friend. Sorry that you can’t spend it with Brady but it sounds like he is doing some amazing things. Hug those boxer babies and make sure you give yourself a big hug from me. 🙂

  4. What a pretty card! I love this stamp, and I hope it doesn’t retire since I won’t be able to buy it for a while. Hope you had a great Mother’s Day and that you were able to spend some quality phone time with your son!

  5. Beautiful card Ann. I hope you enjoyed the day with the fur babies. When your children grow up, it’s rare today that they live nearby. I’ve learned you just cherish the times you do have. Really gets tough when the grandchild comes along. Can attest to that. Have a great week.

  6. Pretty Card! Happy Mother’s Day! Your cards are amazing!

  7. Oh I love it!!! I was going to say it absolutely screams summer but scream is such a harsh word for this – lets say it laughs or chuckles summer : ) You know I think polka dots are just pure happiness, so I’m smiling. Sorry about Brady – he’ll make up for it.

  8. Ann how pretty is this! I just love polka dots soooo nothing is prettier than polka dots with pearls! I can’t wait to get the extra large polka dot embossing folder…. so cool.

What an opportunity for Brady to go to Italy!!! Hope he gets a chance to enjoy what “real” pizza is like there and also Gelato!!!

  20. Lovely card! The polka dot DSP and embossed banner are perfect. The coloring and dimension of the floral image is so pretty.

Happy Mother’s Day! Enjoy your day with the Twins & Lexi.

Congrats to Brady on his exciting, upcoming opportunity.

  21. Wow this card really pops with dots, color and pizzaz! I love the background DSP with the Decorative Dots EF! As usual you can really showcase a stamp with your coloring abilities! Not to mention adding a touch of pearls!! I LOVE this card!

Happy Mother’s Day! You may not have Brady with you today but you do have your Fur Babies that cherish and love you as well! Have a Super Sunday!

  22. I guess Mother’s Day must make one reminiscent, because I was up way too late last night looking at photos of my kids when they were younger 🙂 Gorgeous card, Ann! You colored the blossoms so beautifully, and I like how you popped up the leaves and a flower. I also like the repeating dot and banner elements. Happy Mother’s Day!

  23. Pretty card! And I love the photo…..with those glasses he was a star in the making!

  24. A beautiful use of the colors, Ann! I love your fussy-cut flower and stems too. It really adds so much. Brady’s photo is proof positive that even back then he was “too cool for school”! ((hugs))

  25. What a lovely creation…this is such a pretty floral image, especially subtly colored the way you have! Stunning! And thanks for sharing your son’s photo with us…I am sure he will be sufficiently embarrassed since he’s such a “big boy” now! Hope he has fun in Italy!

  26. Happy Mother’s Day, Ann! We just came home from our “baby’s” Master’s Degree ceremony. He will work for App State implementing a program he wrote for them to help at risk students find their footing, then in July, he will start his “real job” at Central Carolina University working in student development. So he isn’t home today, either. We have our memories to keep us company, though. Love the polka dots on this very pretty card! Hugs!

  27. Happy Mother’s Day Ann, I hope that, even if you can’t see your son, the memories of earlier years bring a smile to your face. Your card is beautiful, as always and your layout is awesome, I love that polka dot paper and it does look great paired with the polka dot EF.
    Thank you for sharing.
