Washi-tastic for The Paper Players

It’s time to play with The Paper Players! This week, we are featuring a Clean and Simple Washi Tape Challenge, hosted by the talented Nance Leedy.  Now I will be the first to tell you, I am not a Washi Tape user, but I do collect it.  So I pulled out my washi stash and stared at it for an hour.  I couldn’t decide if I wanted to use my elegant Watercolor Wonder Washi or my fun and funky Retro Fresh Designer Washi.  I guess I was just being a little wishy-washi!  However, being a fun and funky retro type of gal, I went with the bright colors and created a happy card.  I hope you enjoy it!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Washi Fun
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Doing a happy dance…tango style! The Oh, Happy Day circle, from Starburst Sayings, was inked in Tangerine Tango.  This is such a fun color which just screams “HAPPY”!  I cut it out using the Starburst Framelits, and backed it onto a Coastal Cabana circle, for just a hint of color peeking out from behind.
  • Arrow-dynamic!  An Arrow, from the Essential Wooden Elements collection, was covered with Daffodil Delight Gingham Washi from the Gingham Garden Washi Tape collection.
  • Yipes, stripes! Maybe I went a little overboard with the washi tape, but it was so easy creating this striped background!

I am such a pushover for Tangerine Tango and Coastal Cabana.  The combination is so cheery, and definitely retro!  And couldn’t we all use a little more cheer in our lives?

As I stated at the beginning of today’s post, I have not delved much into the world of washi…and it shows.  I look at the cards of the other Design Team members, and I love what they have created.  I guess I am not a washi woman. How about you? Do you use washi tape often? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  1. I love this fun and funky card, Ann! The washi tape on the little arrow is a great touch. This is such a cheery card! Hope you had a great Easter! Hugs! 🙂

  2. Nonsense, Ann, this card is fantastic! Bright, fun and fabulous. Love your washi striped background and it pairs perfectly with the fun and happy sentiment. Don’t listen to that inner critic–this is washi-tastic!! ((hugs))

  3. wonderful layout and use of the washi tape your card.
    Beautiful bright and cheerful card

  4. Ann your card looks fab! but I feel about the same. I love the look of the washi when I see it, but when I go to use it I feel like I don’t know what I’m supposed to do! Hugs.

  5. I’m not a fan of washi tape but I love seeing how others use it. Your card is a definite washi winner. I think it’s because you added dimension and weight to a relatively flat and muted product. Plus I love the stamp set!

  6. I’m so glad to hear that I am not the only one that stares at my supplies for an hour before I do anything with them! And I love your washi card, Ann! I particularly like the way you created your own patterned paper with it, and how you used it to cover the arrow. A very happy card!

  7. I really like washi tape, and I love using it, especially when it coordinates like this does, It comes in handy for a quick card, especially with a raised image over it.

  8. I’m not a Washi user either.

Your card is fun and bright, and definitely makes me happy.

  9. Super fun and trendy, Ann. LOVE!!!

  10. very fun and retro card…you did a wonderful job being wishy washi….!!! The only thing missing is a pearl or two…lol! Happy Easter!

  12. What a happy card! I never do anything with washi tape, so this is very inspiring!

  13. I love your fun washi-tape card! Happy and cheerful!

  14. I don’t think you went overboard with the Washi tape. I *love* your card. It is so cheerful. Now I have an idea of how else I can use Washi tape. Thank you Ann. Happy Easter. 🙂

  15. I am a bit wishy washi on this stuff too. I like that you can press it down an then pull it back up without a problem. I made a card with the stuff going on the diagonal since it is more forgiving than vertical like yours. Yet, I don’t use it very much. I love that arrow you covered with it! I did use a bunch of it on an album – the one Paper Pumpkin one with the people – I made it into an album thing for a friend and that was fun to use on it.

An I the only one who is still having problems – your blog and several other PALS and SU demo blogs are not coming to my E-mail?
