It’s time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the talented Anne Marie is hosting a color challenge: Marina Mist, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate. I inked up the Simple Stems set for the first time to create my spring thank you card. I hope you enjoy it.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: It’s All About the Layers
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- Layered petals! The large Blossom image from Simple Stems was inked in Crushed Curry and stamped three times. The bottom layer was punched out using the Secret Garden Framelits, while the top two layers were hand-snipped and popped up on dimensionals.
- Layered patterns! Banners were snipped from strips of Crushed Curry (Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper), Smoky Slate (Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack) and Marina Mist ( Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper), and layered upon each other. The Smoky Slate “thank you” is courtesy of Peaceful Petals.
- Layered lumber! A Smoky Slate Hardwood banner perches atop a Woodgrain textured panel, in keeping with the lumber look.
I hope you enjoyed today’s easy card. As you can see, it truly is “all about the layering”. As always, your comments are important to me, so please, won’t you leave me a comment? And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

I have that hardwood stamp on my wish list.
Wonderful card with all the layers, prints, flowers and texture. I had to laugh – the first comment by B 🙂 doe seem like there is movement like they are coming out of a wooden box or something complete with the lid. Those flowers are just plain pretty! Great job as always!

This is so pretty, I love it.
I love these flowers…..so bright and bold! Should have bought them!
Love how you interpreted the color challenge. You are a master at adding many different elements without overdoing. I may have to make a similar version.
Ann, you really knocked this one out of the park! Gorgeous! I love the “bouquet” of flowers, the mix of DSP patterns, and your “layered lumber”. I must get that Hardwood stamp!
Wow, this is gorgeous! I too love all the texture and layers! You really rocked this color combo, Ann! I just got Simple Stems and can’t wait to ink it up! Thanks for the inspiration!
Beautiful card Ann. Love all the texture and layers. I really have to ink up that woodgrain stamp!
I love all the great texture and layers in this wonderful card! Your fussy cutting is amazing!
Love it. Here’s the way my crazy brain sees this card – the banner makes it look like the flowers are coming out of a card, or a book, or a box. Gives it great “movement” and interest. I even like the blue : )
