Has this ever happened to you? You see a set, and you are not quite sold on it? Then someone posts something cute made with it, and you just have to have it? Well, this happened to me with the Simple Stems set. I’ll be honest. I thought the flowers looked “chunky” at first. But now I see this set as a versatile one, perfect for both fussy and clean cards. I hope you enjoy today’s card, designed for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Layered and Lovely
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- Layered and lovely! Inked in Rose Red, the larger blossom from Simple Stems was stamped three times in preparation for layering. A single Pearl glams up the center.
- Layered and lovely again! A little snipping magic transforms the smaller So Saffron flower into a layered beauty, too. Of course, more pearls finish up the center.
- Delicious diagonals! The Diagonal Plate and the Simply Scored tool were used to create the scored panel. Tiny pearls decorate the intersections, creating a delicate background.
For today’s card, I had a little help from Lexi. She pulled all of my pearls out of the container in which I keep the partially used packages. In her mind, I know she thought she was just picking out the best ones for me! That’s her story and she’s sticking to it!
What do you think of today’s card? Won’t you let me know in your comment? Your comments are very important to me. It’s a little different for me…a hybrid of clean and fussy, and I am anxious to hear what you think. And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

Love that lattice background dotted with pearls. It echoes the lattice in the paper. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you planned it that way! LOL
Yes, I think that has happened to all of us with a stamp set.
Your flowers are lovely and I really like the scored background and pearls.
So happy Lexi felt well enough to help you 🙂
I do so love your work! And Lexi is looking fantastic. Seems that girl also loves her Bling!
Pretty card and love all those pearls! I forget about doing the diagonal treatment and using pearls. I think the flowers look very nice and love their own touch of pearls. Love the look on Lexi’s face! Great job as always!

Not chunky at all…..those flowers are gorgeous!
Looks like a mini flower garden Ann. So pretty. Lexi is looking wonderful. Hope she has recovered in full.
Great job Lexi!! You helped take a pretty card and make it a gorgeous card with those pearls. Did Lexi help with the fussy cutting too? If she did, she did a fantastic job with the flowers!!
I usually have to have a set after I’ve seen a card that you have made with it Ann! I do have this set already though and you have really inspired me with this beautiful, cheery card! I love this color combo and really like the diagonal embossing and pearls! It seems as though Lexi is taking right after her Mama and is a “pearl” girl!
Ann, you do such beautiful work. I always learn something from you as well as a better, smarter way to think about the project.

Ann, this card is AMAZING!!!!!!! I LOVE everything about it. Now, I am going to order this stamp set as soon as I post this comment. Your last two cards inspired me to purchase it asap. The details you add to every card you make is fabulous! Thank you for all your inspiration. Lexi is such a great judge of his Mama’s work! XXX
Okay, so now I’M going to have to purchase it because of YOUR beautiful card! Just love it, especially the diagonal background with those tiny pearls. Your usual work of art! Many thanks for the inspiration.
Awwwww….what a neat pic of Lexi and any ‘girl’ would want those pearls. Love the captured look on her face!
Fabulous, fabulous and fabulous! I so love that diagonal pattern. Won’t you please show us how? This is one of my FAVE sets. I just love to fussy cut those gorgeous flowers apart and re-assemble them. Lovin’ the background curved piece. Unique and fresh! And, the pearl placement….perfect as always! thanks so much for sharing with us. I always go to your e-mail first to see your works of art.
Totally agree about stamp sets! Love the diagonal lines and pearls on this card. Could you please do a video or photo how-to? I get the general idea but how to get the diagonal? Lexi is so beautiful! What a great helper! Gotta have those pearls!
Just beautiful Ann! I felt the same way about this set and was disappointed looking at it in the catty knowing I had the matching framelits. I’ve seen such pretty cards made with this set and I especially love how pretty the flowers look when layered. So now this set has made it’s way onto my wishlist as well!
Such a sweet inquisitive look on your pretty baby’s face!
As soon as I saw this card at Pals Paper Arts, I knew it was yours before seeing your name! I love it! I’m in total agreement about this stamp set as I thought the same thing about it seeming a bit chunky. After seeing what you’ve been able to do with it, I love it! I love today’s card as well!! Lovin’ Lexi’s look!! Gorgeous Girl! 🙂
Very cute “chunky” flowers — love those added pearls too!
Ann I just love how cheery this card looks to me! Those pearls are done gougeously…. and I mean gorgeously…. so I agree with Lexi… she just gets as excited as me over the pearls! hugs.
I felt the same way about this stamp set but I decided I couldn’t resist a new type of flower to stamp! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration! Lexi has been trained well! She knows what it takes to make an “Ann Schach” original!!
gorgeous – very Florida citrusy : ) Go Lexi!! Of course I have to have sets after I see someone else use them, then I forget how and don’t use them myself : ) I need to work on that. Thanks for sharing.
This card is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. And btw, Lexi is looking so happy & proud. She’s so sweet.
Beautiful card Ann. OH, I hear ya when it comes to the stamp sets. I have so many on my wish list at the moment and the heck of it is, my wish list is getting longer.
Had to smile at the look Lexi is giving. It’s like she’s saying; ‘Who Me?’ :} Maybe she was picking out pearls for you to make her a pearl collar. :}
Enjoy your day and have a wonderful week end.
Love your card today Ann! I know what you mean about stamp sets – have just ordered ‘Life in the Forest’ as a direct result of the fab cards you’ve made with it 🙂
The flowers are beautiful and the pearls step it up a notch. Love the card,
