Monochromatic By the Seashore with The Paper Players

I love the sea and beaches.  It doesn’t make any difference whether they are rocky or sandy, I love them all.  Unfortunately for me, I live in Iowa.  I am on the Mississippi River, but that just is not the same.  So, it’s no wonder that I have By the Seashore and By the Tide in my collection of stamps.  I inked up both to create today’s card for The Paper Players challenge…a sketch challenge hosted by the talented Sandy! I hope you enjoy today’s monochromatic Crumb Cake with gold-embossed edges card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measure 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Gilded edges!  After heat embossing the images from By the Seashore with Early Espresso embossing powder, they were snipped out.  VersaMark ink was applied to the edges, which were then embossed with gold for a touch of glitz.
  • White sand! The retired Texture stampin’ wheel was inked with VersaMark, and then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The result mimics a white sand beach.
  • Pearls!  What better jewel to embellish sea shells and starfish than pearls…the gem of the ocean!  Don’t you just love this little pearled pentaradial rascal?

There you have it…a monochromatic card rich with texture, glitz and glam.  The gold and pearls contrast nicely with the Crumb Cake, and add an unexpected touch of elegance, don’t you think?  Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  And speaking of beaches, you might notice a little addition at the top of my left side-bar.  I am pleased to announce, that because of my wonderful customers and fabulous downline, I have earned Stampin’ Up!’s Hawaii Grand Vacation for 2015.  Thank you so much for making my dream vacation a reality.  Is anyone available to Boxer-sit those days?  Until next time…

I’m like you as I’m next to the Mississippi River (1.5 miles)! But we just leased a yearly lot over at Kentucky Lake to put our new (used) travel trailer!! It has 4 slide outs so I’ll have room for some SU STUFF!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Roy and I are so excited as it’s just 2 hours away to go and play and/or relax! Most likely both! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

Congrats on your 2015 trip to Hawaii!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish I was close enough to take care of your Fur Babies for you while you were away!! I’m sure you’ll have someone that will love on them, watch over them, and protect them until you return from your trip!!

  5. Ann this is just gorgeous. I love your gold edges and the white sand is the bomb… but… the pearl encrusted “pentaradial” rascal was a first for me. But I love learning something new!

  7. Wow! I use By The Tide a lot but never in my wildest dreams did I think to do it monochromatic in brown tones. I LOVE it!! Everything about it is perfect. Lovin’ the little ruffle too, reminds me of a baby wave. Outstanding! Congrats on your trip – you surely do deserve it!

The gold embossing and pearls are so pretty on your card.

I grew up on the beach (and have had skin cancer to prove it!) and love everything to do with it.

  9. Ann, CONGRATULATIONS on earning the trip! I’m so happy for you. I love your “sand” and the use of the pearls. So appropriate. And , if you will come to SC, I will be happy to take you to the beach.

  14. Once again, another gorgeous card. I love that you used the gold, pearls and Crumb-cake card-stock. They are quite elegant used together. I love the beach too! I am very fortunate that the coast is only an hour away from where I live and that Wayne and I go to the beach as often as possible. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Oh, wow Ann! I thought this card was stunning at first glance but even more so when I saw the shots on an angle with the beautiful gold embossing, and the embossed beach looks just like sand. You really thought out of the box and rocked this sketch!

  16. I love everything about this card – especially the elegant echinoderm! No seashore in west central Ohio either, but you’ll have plenty of ocean to enjoy in Hawaii! Congratulations!

  17. Well, at least there is crumb cake for the Mighty Miss! I totally love your card! How you created the white sand is amazing. I almost wanted to touch it to see if it felt like sand! That gold also was an amazing touch to the shells and stuff. Of course we needed pearls! Love that touch of the ribbon on the edge as well. Wonderful card! Congrats on the trip! Since I am pretty close – I will have to think about boxer sitting.
