It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the talented LeAnne is hosting a Clean and Simple Challenge: Use a Star on your CAS Card or Project. At first glance, my By the Seashore card may not look very clean. It’s just that I randomly stamped all of the “white” space. And really, there are minimal embellishments…I only used 8 pearls. Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Not Quite Clean and Almost Simple
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- Seeing stars! A trio of Brushed Gold Stars were punched using a retired Stampin’ Up! star punch. There is a Star in the Circle Card Thinlets collection, but I felt it was just a tad too big. Luckily this little punch was still residing in one of my punch drawers.
- Stippled! The Stippled Flower image, from Stippled Blossoms, makes a subtle and beautiful background. It was inked with Soft Suede and then stamped off before being randomly stamped onto the Very Vanilla panel. Notice the soft tinges of stamped-off Rose Red and Pool Party? They were added by using the Splotch image from Happy Watercolor.
- Whimsy! The Starfish from By the Seashore was inked in Soft Suede and added as a touch of the unexpected. Among many things, starfish can be symbolic of inspiration…just perfect for a card where the sentiment is “Dare to Dream”. Of course, every well-dressed starfish needs pearls, so I graciously obliged.
In a perfect world, I would have stamped the Rose Red Argyle image from Clockworks off a second time, but in reality I didn’t. So I embraced it…and I am learning to like it. Of course, my favorite element on the entire card is the little circle of pearls on the starfish. What about you? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me. Of course, if you ever have a questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

Ann, this is just stunning! That background is just fabulous!
What a beautiful card! And yes, every well dressed starfish needs pearls. :)I do love that you added the pearls.

You definitely nailed the dreamy quality with this card, Ann! It’s ethereal and lovely…a perfect mix of your vintage collage style. Love it! ((hugs))
What a beautiful background! I just looked and looked it it. Very impressionistic…and that is a very good thing in my book. I admit to chuckling just a little when you said, “I only used 8 pearls.” You are adorable!
Lovely card Ann. I think every star fish deserves a pearl or 2 or 6.
At first glance I thought your card was just so whimsical!! I love it! Then I noticed the argyle stamp and thought, huh . . . but it really works! Even with it being a standout red. Everything you did on this card just pulls together somehow and works!! Love it! 🙂
Zowie Wowie…what a fabulous card! Love all parts…always love when people use our fabulous grunge stamps, especially in such a beautiful design! Soft and lovely and then a few stronger colors…so pretty! And only 8 pearls…can you stand yourself!?
Aw, Ann, I LOVE that you used a starfish for my starry challenge! I think your beautiful collage is just perfect…especially the simple use of pearls! Very pretty!
Lovely card, Ann; you are so creative! Really great collage effect and the touch of red is just the right pop along with those signature pearls! How is Lexi doing? And how are YOU doing?? Hugs
Pretty background and the pearls are perfect on the starfish.
Lovely card Ann. I admire your restraint with the pearls!!
Ann, your collage style stamping is amazing! I adore those stippled blossoms and I would never in a million years have thought to combine them with argyle. The result is brilliant, and the argyle not too bright at all. Love, love, love it!
That should have been “Wouldn’t it be perfect for you…” Sorry! Nancy B
Wouldn’t be perfect for you if SU included an oyster for your pearls? Gorgeous design and use of colors! Love it! Nancy B

Ann, love this card!
Yes i believe thats my fave element too…the pearls on the starfish. 😀 Really dresses it up!
WOW such a unique card; my favourite spot on the card has to be the red, w/the pearls coming in as 2nd. thanks ever so much for sharing this technique…as always an enjoyable post!
Beautiful card!
This is the most unusual, unique card ever! It’s gorgeous. Sort of like a collage but not all those layers. And everywhere your eye goes, there’s another place to go. Wow! So very artistic.
I think the pearls are perfect for that handsome starfish . After all they came from the sea !
Love this back ground technique .It adds that mystical fantasy look to your card. I do think you were bold in the addition of the red !
