Lexi Update

Hey, Lexi Supporters…we have wonderful news to report! Lexi is on the road to recovery.  I daresay it is nothing short of a miracle.  This is what Lexi looked like Friday:

You can’t see it very well in the picture, but all of her little vertebrae were showing…

as well as all of her ribs.

And here is my little monkey Wednesday morning:

She has definitely gained weight!  She is eating her prescription dog food like a little piggy.

Just look at that sparkle in her eyes!

But on this cold rainy night, Muffy is still snuggling close.  We visit the vet again on Friday.  I can’t wait to see the look on Dr. Rita’s face when she sees the improvement!

Thank you so much for all of your emails, support, and doggy prayers. They have meant so much.  Heartfelt hugs from Lexi and me.  Until next time…

  12. Yea Lexi, you go girl.

  13. As wonderful the care her handler and that vet gave her, Lexi needed to be home with her family to rest and get better….sooooo excited to hear your good news…and hoping her regular vet will give you the thumbs up that she is truly on her way back….and back to being the runway girl that she was before getting sick! Big hugs to you all and soft pats to her!

  22. Great news Ann, she just needed to be in her own bed and with her caring family. Dogs have that second sense when someone or something is ill. She looks so much better.

  25. Great relief to hear about Lexi’s progress! I know how difficult it is to deal with a pet who is not well. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers — Muffy, you had better stay well and take care of your sister. With love, Nancy B

  27. Thanks for sharing. It’s wonderful to see her back on the road to recovery. I knew she would do better once home with her family.

  28. So very happy for all of you! I know how very stressful it is to try to nurse a sick animal back to health. I played doctor and nurse for 3 full months last winter/spring for a sheltie in full-blown pancreatitis. Difference is… my vet was not that supportive but something about my dog said he wanted to live. I.V. (by me), meds, force-feeding (unfortunately), vigilance (adjusting meds and care), 24-hour round-the-clock care and love got him through and you’d never know to this day. We have no idea what brought it on as he’s never got into garbage or high fat anything (no gravy drippings no nothing, lol) – suspect some sort of poisoning. But now, each day is a gift. Go YOU (I KNOW it’s taken a toll on you) and go Lexi! Big hugs from Canada!

  29. OH what great news… she is looking better already! hugs.

  36. I didn’t read all the comments but a thought occurred to be when I first read about Lexi’s illness and I still think it might hold true……I think maybe she was homesick! Now that she is home, she is doing so well that maybe she just missed her ‘real’ family!

  50. Ann, I am so glad that Lexi is getting better, poor thing. I can relate to how you feel. Our dog got into a situation where we could see her ribs and was so sad to see her like that. She ended up having Thyroid disease but under control now with medicine and looks good. I know you are feeling so much better now that she is getting better!!

  51. Oh, Ann, I can’t believe that I am sitting here crying with joy for you and your beloved Lexi! I definitely believe in the power of prayer because you have indeed received a miracle. Hugs to you all!

  53. Dear Ann: I’m so very happy to read that Lexi is feeling so much better. I totally understand the worry and anguish you experienced seeing her so sick. Our pets are part of our family so it’s not surprising we feel sad when they get sick.
Thank you for the update, please keep letting us know how she keeps improving.
    Hugs to you both.

  54. Great news, Ann! So happy for you!

  55. So glad Lexi is feeling better!!! All that TLC really worked. I have 2 dogs and they snuggle together when one isn’t feeling well too. I love the way they all look after each other.

  56. So happy to hear your wonderful news today! Lexi does look 100% better! Love how Muffy isn’t letting her get too far away, so sweet.

  57. That’s so wonderful Ann. I really think she missed her Mom. I had a cat that wouldn’t eat whenever we were separated. That’s quite a bond!

  58. Such wonderful news. Nice to see that she is looking much better.

  61. Oh, Ann!! What wonderful news to read while on the train on my way to work this morning. It definitely sounds like home was the best medicine for your Lexi. So glad to hear that she’s gaining weight and looks so much better already. I will still be keeping her and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
