From My Heart for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the lovely Nance Leedy has a spring inspired color challenge for us:  Midnight Muse, Crisp Cantaloupe, and GoldIf you don’t have these exact colors, feel free to use a similar hue.  At The Paper Players, it’s all about having fun!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Feminine Thank You
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Pearls!  Pearls, pearls and more pearls adorn the Midnight Muse sentiment, one of my favorites from the From My Heart stamp set.  Of course, a little Brushed Gold heart is the perfect accent. (Brushed Gold, as opposed to Gold Foil or Gold Glimmer Paper worked better with the muted tones of the pattern paper.)
  • Hearts! The gold heart patterned Fancy Foil Designer Vellum is the perfect choice for an overlay on the Crisp Cantaloupe Polka Dot paper. Those little gold hearts tie right in with the heartfelt theme.
  • Lacy and lovely!  A Midnight Muse border, created with the Finishing Touches Edgelits, adds a delightfully feminine touch, especially when embellished with a few pearls.

Poor Lexi

This card was designed for a very special person,  Amy Bieri.  Amy is Lexi’s trainer and handler.  She loves this naughty little girl as if she were her own. Unfortunately, it has been a very rough week for all three of us. Lexi was scheduled to show in Indianapolis this week and weekend.  With the forecasted winter storm, I knew that I would not be able to drive Lexi that far, especially by myself.  However, I was able to get her to Amy’s last weekend. She would simply travel with Amy to the show site, and stay with Amy.  They left Wednesday for the nearly four hour drive from Island Lake, IL in anticipation of the shows.  That is when Lexi’s problems began. She could not keep anything down or in.  Amy immediately started her on meds. She was pulled from the show Thursday.  By Friday, Lexi had dropped so much weight that she was not in show condition.  Amy took her to the show vet, who gave her a thorough exam.  She was not running a temperature, and thankfully she was not dehydrated. But she was having trouble kicking this “24-Hour” virus.  As a “dog mother”,  it was hard to leave Lexi, and now it is even more difficult knowing that she is sick.  However, she could not be in better hands. Amy has kept in contact with me several times a day.  She is feeding Lexi small portions of a special bland, medicated food, four times a day.  As of Saturday evening, Lexi has finally been able to keep something in her tummy.  Here is a picture of my baby, on her “hospital” bed, that Amy sent:

For all that Amy has done to make Lexi comfortable and for nursing her through her sickness, for her compassion and for her caring, I thank her, from the bottom of my heart…

What do you think of today’s card?  For some reason, the section with the vellum overlay looks “pink” in the photo, but in real life, it is a beautiful, muted cantaloupe color.  I hate it when that happens, and I even used the “neutral picker” tool to try to get true colors.  And would you believe that I even removed pearls from this card?  Yep! I did! Can you guess where they were? No fair peeking at the photo which follows. Did you guess correctly? Let me know in your comment today. As always, your comments are important to me.  And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  2. Hope Lexi is well on the mend. This card is so elegant. Love the pearls. TFS.

  3. Beautiful card…Lexi looks like a sweetie!

  4. Oh, your poor baby!! Aww, that would break my heart, too, if she were my little one. ๐Ÿ™ Hope she is on the mend.

And the card for Amy…so pretty. I love the fanciness of that sentiment, and of course, your trademark pearls. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Oh my, you must have been so worried about Lexi. Thank God she is feeling much better and is eating. And thank God for Lexi’s trainer Amy. ๐Ÿ™‚ Your Lexi will be back home soon. How thoughtful of you to make a card for Amy. It is gorgeous Ann. I love the way that you placed all of the pearls. So many of them too. I’m certain that your friend Amy will be very pleased with her card.

    Mary

  6. I hope Lexi is doing much, much better! I know you were certainly wishing you could be with her at such a time but thankfully she was in good hands!!!! Your card is so lovely as always! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. poor Lexi. Hope she gets to feeling better soon. Sounds like she is in very good hands and is being well taken care off. Think maybe Lexi missed her mommy not being close by.
Ann, your card is very lovely and with the vellum; really gives it a nice soft look and makes into a beautiful, elegant card.
    Enjoy your week

  9. I’ve already told you a half-dozen times how much I love this card…/so I will restrain myself here. ๐Ÿ˜‰ sending good thoughts to sweet Lexi. I hope she is feeling better soon. Big hugs to you both!

  10. I love that sentiment too! No, I did not guess from where you removed the pearls. But, I do like the card better w/o the row of them. It is a beautiful card and will be very appreciated by Amy.

So sorry for Lexi. I hope she is better soon and back with her loving family.

  11. So scary to be away from your baby dog when she’s ill. You are very fortunate to have such a competent handler and this beautiful card is a lovely expression of thanks.

I love the vellum overlay, that is an exquisite touch to add an additional bit of glam.

  12. I hope Lexi and “Mommy” are both feeling better and reunited soon. I know this has been hard for you to be away from her, especially in a time of illness.

  13. LOL…I guessed correctly…not sure why you removed the pearls, but still a fabulous card! Oh, ‘our’ poor Lexie….but she is doing better and that is what counts. Sadly our pet babies are susceptable
to the flues as well as we are. You must be very anxious to get her back home and give her more TLC and love. Pats to the two at home and extra pats to Lexie on her return to your loving care!

  14. What a perfectly beautiful card for dear Amy, and I’m so sorry to hear about Lexi. I hope she’s feeling better by now. I’m sure you can’t wait for her to come home so you can give her a hug! Back to the card: I love how you used the colors, oh so elegant with the shapes and patterns you selected. Awesome take on the challenge, Ann.

  15. Aw, poor Lexi, and poor you! So glad she is in capable hands and I can’t think of a more beautiful card by which to show your thanks and appreciation! She’ll love it! Here’s hoping Lexi recovers quickly!

  16. Poor Lexi!!! It must be really hard to know that your “baby” is going through that. So nice that you have such a good and kind trainer!

Love your card and I agree that I like it better without that extra strip of pearls. Just right the way it is now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. OH this is so pretty, I love it.

  18. Sounds like Lexi is in good hands. Sorry she missed the showing, she would have ran rings around the others! Henry ate more yesterday than he has all week. Another test tomorrow.

I love your card, the version without so many pearls is my favorite. I knew there would have been one in the middle of the heart and maybe that line of pearls too. I probably missed some more. But, the whole card is so pretty. Amy will love it!

  19. Oh Ann, I’m so sorry to hear about Lexi. I know how upset I would be if one of my dogs were sick and not with me. I know she is in good hands with Amy and it sounds like she is turning the corner and getting better. I am keeping all of you in my prayers for a safe trip for them, comfort for you and a speedy recovery for Lexi.

I absolutely love your card, these colors are beautiful together! Love the soft. muted look and I do like it better without the strip of pearls. I know Amy will cherish it!

  20. So sorry to hear about Lexi’s illness. Knowing she is with someone who cares deeply about her must give you some comfort, but nonetheless not being with you must be so difficult. The card is gorgeous, and I think you did just the right thing in removing the pearls. My thoughts will be with you until Lexie is back with her loving family.

  21. Poor Lexi. There are a lot of viruses going around right now. Glad she is on the mend. Part of our anxiety stems from the fact that they cannot talk to us and tell us what is wrong. Hang in there.

Your card is beautiful, as usual. I second your motion to remove the extra pearls.

  22. Now Now — I think I would have left the extra line of pearls — just sayin’ ๐Ÿ™‚ Just beautiful as always!! I think you found the perfect blend of Midnight Muse and Crisp Canteloupe. It really works! Wendy

  23. so sorry to hear your baby is sick, i hope she is home with you and feels better soon. as always your cards are awesome and i love reading about your dogs as well.

  25. This is lovely, Ann! Such an elegant and pretty take on the colors. I love how you’ve made the framelit fit around the wide part of the sentiment–so clever. Like the softening effect of the gold embossed vellum too, it’s perfect! So sorry to hear about Lexi’s troubles but it sounds like she is in loving hands. ((hugs))

  26. So sorry to hear your girl is sick. I’m glad she is in such good hands. I know she must miss you, and will be glad to get back home. You two can cuddle up and share a good love fest!

The card is beautiful, and I do love the color palette! The pearls make it very elegant. And I guessed wrong on where the removed pearls were…. I thought on the vellum dots.

  27. Poor Lexi. Hope she is completely over whatever she had. Love the card. I actually like it better without that strip of pearls. Great job!

  28. First things first – ohhhhhh poor Lexi, and you, and Amy. Bet she just misses her mommy. And there she was eating so well. So sorry. Now for the card – it’s amazing. I think, however, I’m seeing something many people wouldn’t – although it’s very elegant, I’m still feeling hints of the County Fair when I see it. I see ribbons, although not blue, quilts, pies, and things like that….and I love a County Fair : ) The placement of those pearls just made me smile! Thanks for sharing, and hang in there!
