Life in the Forest with a “Blendabilities” Fox for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week is a sketch challenge, featuring a “tuck-away-tag”.  While I toyed with the idea of making a Valentine, with a tucked-away love note, I opted instead to design a card featuring the whimsical Life in the Forest stamp set.  During Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership, I had the opportunity to play with new Blendabilities alcohol markers, and I colored the adorable Fox from this set.  I wanted to show you the result, and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity.  This seemed like the time. Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Cute and Whimsical
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Rockin’ rodents!  Poking their heads above the grass (made with the new Fringe Scissors), two Field Mice are scopin’ out the scene.  These little critters were tinted using Smoky Slate ink and a Blender Pen, and then snipped out.
  • Masked marauder! Pssst! What better way to emphasize the sentiment than to balance the Raccon image on top of it.  Our little masked bandit was inked in Jet Black StazOn and stamped onto Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Feeling foxy! I used Pumpkin Pie Light, Medium and Dark Blendabilities to color this little vixen! Don’t you just love her!  Because she had been colored on a snippet of Whisper White cardstock in Houston, I snipped her out, and adhered her to the tag. I also paper pieced her mask, ears and tail with Very Vanilla. Blendabilities are at the top of my Wish List for sure.  I absolutely love them.

This was definitely a labor-intensive card because of the coloring and snipping.  But it was so much fun creating the little vignette. Cute is definitely not my style, but I did manage to add pearls.  What do you think of it? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  And remember, if you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…

  8. Ann such a cute little scene. You colored the animals so cute as usual… I have not used any alcohol pens of any kind, so I’m totally in the dark for now. hugs.

  16. This is beyond adorable! Hope SU makes those blendabilities available soon. Being water colored challenged I am so excited to try them. Ann you are amazing…

  17. I had to look twice for those pearls! This really is cute. I think the little raccoon steals the scene though with his little sign! That fox is really pretty though and you did a wonderful job of using the new markers. You even managed to incorporate the new fringed scissors! This is just way too cute for words!

  20. Ann, this is such a fabulous sketch and your little vignette is sooo much fun! I couldn’t wait to see what was behind the little tail peeking out! I love your “cute” side!

  21. This card is absolutely darling and the recipient is one lucky person. This is beyond a card, it’s a work of art. Looks like a lot of paper sniping which is not my strong suit but boy is it worth the work. Just adorable! Of course the pearls made their way into this fantasy forest via the mushroom. Cute, cute, cute!

  22. Don’t ever think you can’t do “cute”. This is beyond cute! I’m soooo looking forward to the blendabilities!

  23. Ann, I have to agree with all the comments. This is just the cutest card, I can see it on the front of a stamping magazine. Since I am an animal fanatic, I loved this set as soon as I saw it and I have liked so many of the samples but your card goes beyond any I have seen. All the detail, the colors, the word bubble, and then the pull out fox – this has to be the cutest card I have ever seen!!!! You truly inspire me!!

  24. What a darling card! You absolutely do cute very well! Adorable little scene, love all the details! I can’t wait to try the new Blendabilities too!

  26. I don’t know Ann…after viewing this card, I think maybe cute IS your style because if this isn’t the cutest card I’ve seen in a long, long time, then I don’t know what is. Gorgeous craftsmanship and such a lovely sense of whimsy. Love, love, love!

  27. OMGosh….I LOVE this card. I am such an animal fanatic! My first thought, no pearls. They are so cute on the mushroom. Who would have thought that but you! Yup, I will be making this one! Thanks for the inspiration!

  28. Really darling card with this cute stamp set. Love your sample of the fox done with the new blendabilities markers… so exciting!

  29. Great for the grandkids! Adorable………

  30. SO stinkin cute…I have trouble creating scenes, so right off the bat, I was envious of this little woodland vignette! But then….when I saw the fox…oh boy! I can’t wait to play with those markers myself!

  31. I love your card!! I am looking forward to the new markers. My students are obsessed with the video ‘What does the Fox Say.’

  33. Alright ! This is beyond just absolutely adorably cute!!!!! I don’t know what you were worried about 🙂 And leave it to you to find a place for pearls on an “outdoorsy” card — LOL 🙂 I’m going to be studying this one closely for a while!!! Now I KNOW I want that stamp set — been eyeing it every time I flip through the catalog.
