It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, sweet Sandy is challenging us to make a one-layer Valentine card. Those of you who know me, know that this would be quite the challenge for me. Here is Sandy’s description of a one-layer card: “A one layer card is a single piece of card stock folded in half, no other layers, and embellishments should be minimal.” Wow! How was I ever going to accomplish that? But I gave it the old college try. I hope you enjoy today’s card.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Stamping with Acrylic Blocks
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- It’s as easy as ABC! I used Acrylic Blocks B and C to create the colored squares. A little Blushing Bride on Block B, and a little Pool Party on Block C, and ta-da! Your background is stamped in seconds!
- Ooh-la-la! The Eiffel Tower from the Follow My Heart stamp set makes the perfect focal image. Jet Black StazOn assures a crisp image against the background. As much as I wanted to punch out a heart and add a pearl, I resisted!
- All you need is Love! The Love sentiment from the Best of Love set is the perfect simple sentiment needed for this clean and simple card.
I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy card. It was FUN to make, and took a matter of minutes to complete. I really like the Blushing Bride-Pool Party combination for non-traditional Valentine colors. What do you think? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? And as always, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away!
But before you say good-by, I want to leave you with an adorable picture and Lexi’s “Tip of the Week”. I just promoted Friday to Senior Manager with Stampin’ Up! To celebrate, my upline’s upline, Lisa Pretto, sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. Here is Lexi’s tip for us all: Always take time to stop and smell the flowers.
Until next time…

Ann, I love the one layer collage. This is one of my favorite images and I love in in the clean and simple way you have used it. The pop of pink and blue remind me of Paris in springtime. Love it.
Hugs
Jayde

Congratulations on your promotion (and one-layer card!). One should take Lexi’s advice. Yes, that is a pretty color combo.
When I read “One Layer”, I thought no way Ann can do that. But look— you did a beautiful job. Agree with one of the other comments, please put a pearl on it. Again, congrats on the promotion and Lexi knows a good smelling pretty when she see it. Pam

P.S. now you have shown this beauty of a card please put a pearl in the middle of the heart or on top of the Eiffel Tower so we know it is you!
Congratulations on your SU promotion! You so deserve it! Ditto to all of the above comments. I think Lexi was sniffing the flowers to say she feels the same way. Nancy B
I follow you daily but don’t comment much. I want to congratulate you on your promotion!! You are a lovely stamper and I have learned so much about stamping from you. I so enjoy your stories of your animal babies. Keep them coming.

I love this, Ann! A very sweet, simple card but says a lot! I’ve never tried stamping with the acrylic blocks but I love the soft look it gives. These colors are so pretty together too! Ann, I had complete confidence in your one layer card making abilities, and you did not dissapoint! I love how you added layers of color using ink instead of card stock. Fabulous card! Big congratulations on your promotion, too! You go, girl!

Wow Ann, this was totally unexpected and out of the box for you.
acrylic blocks used as stamps;interesting and I’m going have to give it a try.
What a challenge it must had been but I like what you had done. Very pretty. Simple but yet gives a sweet message.
I love it!
Beautifully CAS card Ann, I’ve never tried to use the acrylic blocks as stamps but I like the image you get, every time it will be different. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! That was so NOT what I was expecting when I read the title. I guess the non-traditional colors threw off my perception. I LOVE it! Did Lexi eat the flowers after she smelled them?
