It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week the talented LeAnne is treating us to a theme challenge: Evergreen! So pull out the pine boughs, fir trees, a deep shade of green or anything that reminds you of the word “Evergreen” and join in the fun!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- Window on the world! Set off your focal image by placing it in an oval window. Our skating vignette, which uses the Winter Trees image from Lovely As a Tree, was created with Oval Framelits.
- Ice and snow! Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter, applied with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adds a touch of sparkle to the newly fallen snow.
- The icy pond over which the Winter Post skaters glide is courtesy of Crystal Effects. Tip: I “paint” on Crystal Effects using a flat paintbrush. In real life, it adds a gorgeous, subtle sheen.
- Evergreens! Two Pine Trees, inked in Always Artichoke and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals, flank both sides of the oval, giving the impression that one is peeking through the trees, watching the skaters.
(Winter Post, one of my favorite winter sets of all time, is retired. If you don’t happen to own it, don’t despair. It is available on My Digital Studio.)
I hope you had a fabulous holiday weekend. I did not brave the crowds this year to do any shopping. Neither Kim nor I “need” anything, although I find that my house is turning into that of my grandmother’s. When I was much younger, I always wondered why Grandma never updated her dishes, her pans, her utensils, her towels…in fact all of her household items. Now, at my age, I truly understand. So as much as Walmart, Kohls, Penneys, and Target were enticing me with their low prices, I did not give in and replace so many of my things which, albeit retro in every since of the word, are still functional.
So…what do you think of today’s card? I wish you could see the Crystal Effects in person. As always, your comments are important to me. And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I make, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

Just fabulousiness! hugs.
Wow! What a gem, Ann! Like a little diorama.
This is pure Schah-a-licous-ness! You create the loveliest scenes with this stamp set. Love all the fussy cutting and the depth of the scene. Just beautiful!
Oh my! This is another amazing work of art! I keep putting off buying life as a tree but I don’t think I can anymore! Merry Christmas to me! Keep inspiring me to do better!
Lovely is what this card is, Ann! I adore the stunning scene you have created. Your shiny ice skating rink with glittery snow banks is amazing, and the skaters are so charming!

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! Your attention to detail is unbelievable! Thank you for sharing your talents! I too am “turning into my mother” – satisfied to live with all of my old stuff because it’s still functional – oh well – my Stampin Up stash keeps growing instead!
WOW…what a stunning and beautiful card, Ann…..we can just walk into the beautiful picture and join the skaters….
Mary Fish is right-this is a masterpiece! LOVE IT!
Ann, This has be be one of my all-time favorite Ann Schach cards. The layout and concept are perfect. It’s absolutely stunning (I know that term gets used a lot, but I mean it). If this were entered into online challenges, it would win every single time.
I love this masterpiece!!! Might be my favorite card ever!!! Love, love, love!!!
Beautiful card! Oh, they could be skating at Crapo Park with all the trees! You did a wonderful job on this card – as always. This is definitely a piece of art!
I had to work on Friday and didn’t do any shopping Saturday either.
Chris R. from Iowa
I love this! It reminds me of a vintage Christmas card. I believe I see some grunge effects at the top too. Fabulous!
Beautiful card!
Awesome Card! Just lovely! Thank you for sharing!
Wow Ann….you should do a wall mural or larger framed artworks. I can see your wonderful talent going way beyond cards as your cards are so beautiful. True works of art. The pond is so gorgeous it makes me want to go skating even with my disabilities. I can envision it and dream it tho’ thru your work. Just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I didn’t think it was possible, but you have truly outdone yourself with this gorgeous card. The background is amazing. Love the skaters and dimensional trees.
Your card is beautiful! I just finished cleaning out my “cleaning closet” and learned that I will not be buying kitchen towels or lemon oil for about 10 years. It is so nice to clean out and organize. I’ve been working on my stamping room since my retirement six years ago and I can’t get rid of anything! Yes, as the years go by, we start reciting: “Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, I’ve become my mother after all.” By the way, if anyone out there does not have Lovely as a Tree, get it while you still can — it’s one of my all time favorite sets! Thanks for sharing what you do, Ann! Nancy B
I am always just blown away by your cards, Ann. So, so beautiful and each so unique from the last — yet it is always evident that it is “an Ann” card. I’m thankful to know you virtually and to call you Pal! Love and blessings to you always — and thank you for the exquisite inspiration you provide day in and day out.
this is a FABULOUS winter scene you have created Ann-I love it and all your wonderful details make for a perfect card for the Paper Players challenge
Ann, your card is a delightful step into the past when times seemed more peaceful and relaxed. Love the framed dimensional layout; adds so much to the scene. Thanks for sharing out to do the frozen pond! I refuse to do the black friday thing and agree with VIcki that it takes away from the whole meaning of Thanksgiving and Christmas! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving with your family. Hugs
WOW!!!! That is one amazing card! I would put that in a frame and keep it up year round it’s so gorgeous!! 🙂
OMG, Ann, you never cease to amaze me with your talent. This is so wonderfully detailed, and has that magical Christmas quality that makes my heart sing. Beautiful!!
This is just stunning, Ann! You do scenery so well! What a perfect little winter vignette….I can feel the cold, crisp air right now!
Really beautiful and inspiring!
This is just gorgeous Ann! I’ve been eyeing Lovely as a Tree for a while now and I think you have pushed it out of my wish list and into my cart!
Love, love, LOVE it Ann!! I’ve been loving seeing you posting more again. I love hearing about your babies, human and puppy babies. I’m glad you followed your dream with showing the puppies.
You really created a great winter scene. I can see the sparkle but I know that always looks even better IRL.
Like you I didn’t venture out into the madness of the “deals” being offered. I don’t believe in buying new just for the sake of buying new and replacing what I already have and is still functional. My cookware is over 45 years old and in excellent condition. Besides I feel the madness of the shopping this weekend takes away from the real meaning of the season. 🙂
I hope SU realizes how talented you are. What a beauty today!
Ann, This is a beautiful card! You never cease to amaze me with your talent! This card would definitely be framed in my house!
Donna

Ann, this card is absolutely gorgeous. You inspire me a lot with your style. I think I will be attempting to case this card for my daughters birthday on Dec 16. Wish me luck.

That’s framelit
Wait – did you snip those evergreen trees or did I miss a fremelit? Such an outstanding card!
I love the dimension. I always struggle with it! Maybe I can use your inspiration and attempt it again. So glad you shared!

Card is gorgeous Ann. I like everything about it.
I don’t like fighting the crowds either and don’t get anything then I absolutely have to.
I’m still using some of my pots and pans that I have had for over 40 years.
Enjoy your day
