It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! For our final challenge of 2013, the talented Sandy is hosting a WOW Challenge…White on White. Since I am more of a Very Vanilla gal, Sandy is allowing us to use Very Vanilla, too. I was feeling a little nostalgic when I created this card, and felt the need to make something vintage. I hope you like my efforts.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card meaures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- Standing ovation for the oval! Ovals are a perfect way to frame your images…and so easy to create with Oval Framelits. I stamped the Lodge image from Christmas Lodge with Baked Brown Sugar ink. If you do not have this set, a digital version is available through My Digital Studio as a quick and easy download. White Signo Gel Pen adds instant snow to the roof.
- Let’s hear it for the snowflakes! These beauties were created with the retired Northern Frost decorative strip. A little Baked Brown Sugar ink on the edges really helps them to stand out against the background.
- Sentiment-al! Distressed edges and speckles on the sentiment banner add to its vintage appeal. The “V” notch is easy to create using the Hexagon Punch.
As I stated earlier, this is The Paper Players last challenge of 2013. The Design Team is looking forward to taking a couple of weeks off to celebrate the season with family and friends. We will announce our winner of this week’s challenge on December 21st and will be back with our usual challenge on January 5th.
Friday’s snow here in SE Iowa changed part of my plans for getting ready for the holidays. Brady had a presentation Friday morning, so he was unable to leave for home before the big snow storm hit. He hunkered down the rest of Friday and Saturday, and will be heading back today. It will be great to have him home. He can help me get my Christmas cards made. He loves to use the Big Shot, so I will put him to work making banners with the new Banner Framelits. Kim can bake awesome cookies, so I think I will delegate the cookie baking to him. As for the Twins and Lexi, they will do what they do best…keeping an eye out for Santa!
I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me. Of course, I am always here to answer any questions that you might have about the cards I create or the techniques I use. I am only an email away. Until next time…

Oh, I love the VOV, Ann! This is so elegant. I love the quilted look and the the negative space you’ve used for the lodge. Just beautiful!

Very beautiful!
Ah, this is done in true Ann style—beautifully vintage! Love it all, and I can see that BSS is a great color for vintage shading!
I admire Kim for baking…I would not want to eat a cookie that John made!! He wouldn’t get as far as creaming the butter!
Love your banner edges, the snowflake edges and your pearls, of course! A beautiful winter scene!
Outstanding card, and I love reading your holiday plans. I hope SAnta is good to all of you.
this is absolutely gorgeous Ann-I just love the vintage appeal-the recipient will swoon over the thought and time you put into this
What a beauty! Gorgeous and elegant.
WOW! Absolutely breathtaking, Ann! I love your detailed work. The added pearls really make your design elegant. The Crumb Cake edging on the snowflakes really make them stand out, and the Crumb Cake ink really ties together all of your design elements. Very, *very*, VERY beautiful and so, *so*, SO YOU!!! Thanks for sharing, Ann.
This is truly an awesome card, every little detail is amazing. Lucky the person who receives this one!
Wow Ann, what a gorgeous WOW (or VOV)creation! The sponging really makes the layers stand out, and I adore those snowflakes! Wish I had that die. Thanks for doing such an amazing job on this challenge! Hugs ๐
What a georgeous card. Love your color choices. You hit the mark making this vintage card.
Absolutely beautiful vintage and nostalgic card, and what a blessing to make and to give. In your photo it even looks like there is light coming through in the snowflakes. I didn’t quite understand how you made the snowflakes. I have all the tools and stamps you have mentioned, but looking for technique. Love it Ann!
LOVE the card, Ann! Loved the question about the light too as it is so often seems your cards appear to glow! Was it last year you made the gorgeous tone on tone too? I can just see (and smell those cookies) the Schach Clan gathered in the kitchen/dining room laughing, baking, talking and being so happy to be together! A very Merry Christmas to you and your family, Ann! HUGS!
You have out done yourself. Your card is gorgeous!!! I so wish I had have your talent. But I’m trying using your video. You have three great supervisors watching over you, Brady and Kim. Have a wonderful Holiday Season.
Loving the vintage look and the vanilla on vanilla. Looks so yummy and pretty. Sort of a French Vanilla take on life to me. This is so gorgeous complete with the pearls and all. Simply, gorgeous. Love the snow on the roof!
You received more of the snow storm than we did as well as Brady. Love the photo of the kids watching for Santa!

Love your your “efforts” on that card — it is gorgeous! Using the Very Vanilla instead of white makes it even more elegant! So glad that you are wise to delegate duties. The pictures you share of your Boxers looking out the windows are always fun!!!
Instead of White-0n-White . . . how about WOW-on-WOW!! ๐ Just gorgeous!!!! Same goes for your Fur Babies! They are so beautiful and I love seeing them! ๐
Your card is beautiful beyond measure. I got so much inspiration from seeing it. Thank you for sharing your talent!

I absolutely LOVE every card you make – this one is over the top beautiful!!
Breathtakingly beautiful card Ann! This one needs to be framed – a true work of art. So glad that Brady will be making it home today. Take some well earned time off and relax! See you in January!
Gorgeous! What’s causing the glow behind the snowflakes?
Beautiful, beautiful card! Merry Christmas, Ann!
Such a beautiful card! I love tone-on-tone cards and the distressing with the baked brown sugar really shows the snowflakes off. Love, love, love it!
Oh Ann — my heart literally skipped a beat when I scrolled down and caught my first glimpse of this card. I’m going to have to sit down today and recreate this beauty for myself — I even have ALL the “pieces and parts” including the Northern Frost die that I’ve never used. Now I have no excuse ๐ Thank you for giving me something fun to distract my Sunday ๐ And thank you for sharing your incomparable creativity!! Wendy Klein
