Santa’s List for Freshly Made Sketches

One of the nicest things about being home after spending the summer and fall away at dog shows is that I have time to enter challenges.  It is no secret that I have a soft spot in my stamping heart for Freshly Made Sketches.  This week, the oh-so-talented Linda Callahan was in charge of the sketch.  I absolutely adore Linda’s work, and I was inspired by her sketch.  I hope you enjoy my “almost clean and simple” Santa’s List card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Santa’s beard is soft and warm…and Whisper White! Santa was inked in Cherry Cobbler and stamped onto Whisper White card stock.  He was then snipped out and adhered onto Very Vanilla card stock which had been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I then cut an oval using the Oval Collection Framelits.
  • He’s making a list! For contrast, I inked Santa a second time in Baked Brown Sugar, and snipped out his list.  I left a “tail” on the list, and curled it around a small round file.
  • Naughty or nice?  OK…I will admit it.  I was naughty. I couldn’t keep it clean.  I had to add a few Baked Brown Sugar speckles, courtesy of the Speckles image from Gorgeous Grunge

Santa’s Beard is Soft and Warm was one of Brady’s first books.  I still have it, saved away in a tote, along with a little Santa Suit he wore his first Christmas.  Ah, the memories a stamp set can bring back…

My original design had me using a Whisper White background and a Whisper White card base.  But when it came right down to it, Very Vanilla was warmer. I loved how it looked with the more traditional plaid paper.  I am “mad about plaid”, and felt this traditional pattern went with the traditional image.  What do you think? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  And as always, if you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  5. I am a very vanilla girl when it comes to cardstock – ice cream, not so much! This is wonderful with the plaid which I love as well! What a fun touch with the background and those pearls! Of course, you had me at the list and how you added your creative touch to it! Wonderful job as always!
