Santa’s List for Pals Paper Arts

It’s Thursday, and time to play with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts.  This week we are hosting a sketch challenge. This is an awesome sketch designed by our resident sketch artist, Nicole Watt. I decided to add to my small stash of holiday cards, and pulled out the new Santa’s List stamp set from the Holiday Catalog.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 5-1/4″ square.

  • Textures and patterns!  A classic, traditional Santa image, such as the one from Santa’s List, cried out for traditional colors.  It just so happens that the Season of Style Designer Series Paper collection was able to come to the rescue.  Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler are the perfect traditional duo, while nothing beats the Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder for adding traditional texture.
  • Paper piecing!  Santa was stamped once in Cherry Cobbler, and a second time in Smoky Slate. The Smoky Slate fur trim was then snipped out and adhered for contrast.
  • The list!  Our Santa is sporting a custom made list!  The original list was simply elongated and curled at the end.  At The Stampin’ Schach, no list would be complete without the names of three good dogs…Muffy, Lexi, and Brody, so I made sure to add them.

I loved creating the list and slipping it behind Santa’s hand.  The cool thing is that this could be customized for any recipient. What do you think of today’s card? Won’t you let me know in your comment? Your comments are important to me.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…
