It’s Sunday…and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, sweet Sandy is hosting a theme challenge: “Falling for You”. The goal is simple: create a fall-themed card. When I think of fall, I think of trees with their colorful fall foliage. In the past, I would have reached for my French Foliage stamp set, but for a change of pace, I challenged myself to use Gently Falling instead. I hope you enjoy today’s card!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- The colors of fall! Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, and More Mustard are perfect choices for a trio of leaves. If you no longer have the now retired More Mustard, Crushed Curry makes a lovely substitute. A little distressing of the edges using Soft Suede and a Sponge Dauber softens the look of the paper snipped edges! Note: The Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze leaves were created by stamping off once, then overstamping in the same color. The More Mustard leaves were overstamped in Cajun Craze.
- A neutral backdrop! A Naturals Ivory panel, scored diagonally and bedecked with pearls, forms the perfect backdrop to show off those fall colors.
- Texture galore! The new Burlap Ribbon coordinates perfectly with a hemp twine bow!
What a hectic week this has been! My August Lesson of the Month Club (view here) was more successful than I would have ever imaged. Since I include three completed cards with each lesson, I spent quite a bit of time fussy-cutting! I am currently designing the September Lesson of the Month, which will feature the Wetlands stamp. I will release more details in a few days.
Poor Muffy
Here is Muffy’s major win picture from Elkhorn, Wisconsin, which was taken at the end of July. I just received it. She is such a photogenic girl, don’t you think? Unfortunately this past Sunday, while spending a show weekend near Chicago, poor Muffin was either bitten by a spider or stung by something. Whatever it was, it caused a severe allergic reaction. She received an injection of prednisone, and was placed on the doggy equivalent of Benadryl. She has spent the week recuperating. The hives and rashes are almost gone, except for a couple dozen stubborn bumps, and a slight rash on her tummy.
At first, I tried a variety of patterns, but decided on this plaid pattern. I like how the blue contrasts with the leaves. What about you? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? As always, I appreciate your comments. And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I used, I am only an email away. Until next time…

Very pretty, Ann! Love all of those luscious layers! 🙂
Such a beautiful card. I am happy tonight that I have a little time to catch up with my favorite blog. My mother who has been a nursing home past 18 months, became extremely ill, went into the hospital and passed within a week. Her funeral was just two weeks ago today. I have had lots of company, “stuff” to do etc. I know you understand. Sure hope Muffy is all better now and back to competing real soon. She is so sweet!. Dar
Your fall leaves are always exquisite!
You do leaves so well no matter what stamp you use, Ann! Just beautiful and I love the touch of burlap. Hope Muffy is doing better! ((Hugs))
Poor Muffy! Hope she is feeling better!
Ann, your card is gorgeous!
Love the card! But omg, poor lil Muffy! And you for that matter. That must have been scary for you and so not fun for her. Glad she is better.
Poor Muffy…I can sympathize with her! I always get bitten by something and am miserable for a day or so! Much worse on a dog, I imagine! Your card is lovely too…so much fussy cutting, you are the queen!
Beautiful card as always and so sorry to hear about poor Muffy and her allergic reaction. I hope she recoupes fast and gets well soon. By the way, the picture of her win looks awesome!! Beautiful pic of her.
Beautiful!!!!
Beautiful. Can’t wait for all the colors of fall; favorite time of the year. Glad to hear Muffy is improving. Give her a hug from me.
Oh Ann you have really outdone yourself! What a fabulous fall creation. Love all those leaves, and my what a lot of fussy cutting! Hope Muffy is feeling better soon!
Love it love it! Great card!
Came back to look at this card again today because it is one of my all time favorites – just so gorgeous – and saw that the comment I made yesterday didn’t show. So here I am again, loving your card and hoping Muffy is better soon.
What other descriptive adjective can I add?? Great fall card; love the diamond scored background with the touch of color on the lines to highlight the pattern. Really liking the burlap too. So sorry about Muffy but congrats on her win! So glad there are meds to counteract the allergic reaction! Take care, Ann! Hugs

Poor Muffy…it has to be more difficult with a pet…and a Star!…but we treat them as we do our kids and ourselves. Please give her lots of loving pats!!! Your card is fabulous – always looking for your signature pearls and some wonderful embossing…and your fussy cutting is amazing – you are amazing…as always thank you for sharing your fabulous creativity!
I thought the elements came together very well. I especially like the hemp twine ribbon and the metal brad on the bow. I miss More Mustard a lot. It is one of my favorite colors.
First your card is so pretty. Making fall cards are my favorite ones to make.
Muffy is beautifully poised. I am so sorry that she had to go have such a bad reaction to whatever it was. Poor Muffy….wishing her the best. Cookie sends wags & doggie kisses to her.
Poor Muffy is right! It has to be even harder dealing with pets than with children because children can at least partially understand what happened.
Your card is lovely! Plaid dp with the leaves is perfect!
Absolutely stunning card once again. Poor Muffy I hope she will feel her perfect self soon!

Gorgeous card Ann! I love all the colors and textures. What an amazing contrast with the burlap and the pearls and all. I just totally love it!
Poor you AND Muffy! That had to be sooo scary and away from home. I hope she has a quick recovery these last few days. Can they use Epi pens on dogs?
Chris R. from Iowa
Hey, Kelly! It was very severe. When she was a puppy, she was stung by a honey bee and almost died. At that time, the vet said that she would probably react severely if stung again. I guess the same must have held true for spider bites 🙁
Ann, your card is stunning! All the colors of Autumn and those gorgeous leaves. The blue in the dsp really makes the colors pop too. I have to agree that your fall cards are my favorites too, I guess because that is my favorite season.
I’m so sorry to hear about Muffy and her reaction to the bite. How terrible for her! I’m happy to hear she is recovering, but wow, to take so long it must have been very severe. Her picture is SO pretty and I hope she’ll be feeling back to her normal self real soon.
Oh I feel so sorry for your Muffy. Take care sweet thing and get better soon. LOVE the card cause this is one of my most favorite sets. Love fall except for raking these leaves!
Poor Muffy indeed!! Hoping she is better every day. Love this card (as always). It is so YOU! Glad to hear about the success of your new venture!
Beautiful Fall card. Love your leaf ‘bouquet.’ The paper, pearls, and burlap are perfect.
Poor Muffy. I hope she is feeling better. What an experience.
Poor Muffy! I’m so sorry that happened to her and I hope she gets better very soon! Love this card! The pale blue in the plaid paper is such a perfect contrast to the leaves, just beautiful!
Gorgeous fall card. Love the leaves, scored background and burlap ribbon. The plaid paper is perfect with the theme. Thanks for sharing.
Poor Muffy, glad she is getting better.
Poor Muffy. Hope she is better. Love your card. It is beautiful.
Oh, Ann…this is exquisite! I always look forward to your fall cards…they are among my favorites. That gorgeous leaf cluster backed by the ivory paper is elegant and inviting. You are such a wonderful artist! Hope Muffy feels better soon.
