Clean and Simple Kid’s Card for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players.  This week, the talented Anne Marie Hile has a fun challenge for us: Create a CAS Project:  For the Kids.  I opted to create a birthday card featuring the adorable Puppy from Storybook Friends.  You know me and puppies! Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Brights! Nothing says “fun” like bright and cheery colors! Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, and Tangerine Tango create a delightful trio of Birthday Balloons, stamped using the image from the Sketched Birthday set.
  • Puppy on the run! Our little pupster is sporting a Party Hat from Sketched Birthday, stamped in Bermuda Bay and snipped out using Paper Snips. The “Speed Lines” are courtesy of Gorgeous Grunge, as are all of the speckles and splatters.
  • Banner Band Aid!  Although I had planned on using the Yippee Skippee sentiment, I wasn’t planning on placing it in this location, nor was I going to use a banner.  However, when the Tempting Turquoise Splatter in the left-hand corner didn’t stamp correctly, I changed my design. A sentiment banner saved the day and covered the mistake!  Yippee skippee!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card. Clean and simple cards are difficult for me, but I had a fun time playing with the bright colors and the Gorgeous Grunge set…and of course, the pup!  I would have preferred not to have used the banner, but do you think it looks OK covering my mistake? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me.  And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  1. Hooray for a puppy card! I never would ave guessed that th sentiment was not planned where you placed it either. Such a fun card, Ann! Thanks for rocking my challenge this week! 🙂

  2. Ann, I love the balloons tied to the puppies tail! The paint spattering is perfect for the theme. Great take on the challenge and a great use of the sentiment!

  3. It may not be your usual style but it’s adorable all the same! Love how the doggie is running away from the balloons! Great colors too!

  4. Now this like it was a fun card to make, Ann! You must have been smiling more with each balloon you tied to the puppy’s tail! So cute, great card for a child.

  6. Such a cute card! Love it! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

  7. Just when I thought this card couldn’t get any cuter I noticed the bow on the tail, holding the balloons! Adorable! Love how you fixed the “challenge” with the banner.

  8. This is such an adorable card Ann! Loved seeing the motion created with the lines behind the pup as he scampered across the card with the ballons “tied” to his tail. So, so cute! The banner is a great tool to mask mistakes and the one on your card did not look out of place, so a win-win!

  9. Great save with the banner, Ann! Looks like it was in your design the whole time;) I am impressed at your CAS and I hunted for a pearl and could not find one. Love the grunge effect for his running…

  10. Your plain kids card is adorable and the Yippee Skippee flag is a perfect addition!!! TFS!

  11. This is so fun and cute! I love the balloons on the tail and his little party hat! Love the grunge marks though I had to smile with the yellow spots! One of my dad’s favorite lines for a waitress as part of her tip, “Don’t eat yellow snow!” As far as the sentiment up there – looks good to me. I would have thought you planned on it giving full focus to the playful pup! I am surprised there is not even one pearl though! Great job as always!
