Quick and Easy Love and Joy for Pals Paper Arts…and a Double Win for Little Lexi

It’s Thursday and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week the talented Nicole Watt has a fabulous sketch for us. When I saw it, I knew that I wanted to use the Love and Joy stamp from the Holiday Catalog.  My son, Brady, a graduate student in trumpet performance, always needs holiday cards that are music themed.  I think this one will be a perfect card for him to send out…and a quick one for me to create.  In fact, I think he should be able to master heat embossing, and maybe make a few himself when he comes home at Thanksgiving!  What do you think? Enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Quick and Easy
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Emboss! Nothing makes letters jump off the page like heat embossing.  Inked with VersaMark and stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock, the image was heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Tip:  This is one stamp that benefits from a light sanding before use to help the ink adhere to the rubber better.
  • A “pop” of color! Cherry Cobbler matting adds the perfect contrast to a Very Vanilla and Basic Black color scheme.
  • Pearls!  Large Pearls are the “pearl-fect” embellishment for adding a touch of class to any card.

Victories for Lexi

Little Lexi had a great weekend in Marshfield, Wisconsin.  On Friday, she was Reserve Winner.  But not so for Saturday and Sunday.  The little scalawag was Winners Female and Best of Winners both days.  This means she was right behind the Best of Breed winner. AND in an unusual development, on Saturday her littermate brother, Cruz, was Winners Dog.  We did get a picture of the two of them.  Unfortunately, it was not very flattering of Lexi.  Her front legs are too far forward, making her look long.  They need to come straight down from her shoulder.  However, I will share it anyway, since it is not very often that littermates win big at the same show.

I am off again to St. Charles, IL this weekend, as Muffin tries one more time to pick up her last major win. Keep your fingers crossed for the Muffster!

So, what do you think of today’s card? Do you think Brady will be able to master the heat tool? Time will tell! As always, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  2. Wow! A very gorgeous card! Big congrats to Lexi and her littermate! And, good luck to Mussy this weekend! Take care and have fun!

  3. Wonderful card Ann. From all you’ve shared about Brady, he can probably master anything stamping you throw at him. Not sure about the paarls though. Big hugs and good luck to Muffy; may this be her weekend. And Lexi looks just beautiful in the picture whether her legs are correct or not.

  4. A perfect card for a musical guy! I’ll bet he’ll love the heat embossing!

  5. Beautiful card. Yeppers – no reason your son can’t make some.

Grats on Lexi’s win. That’s awesome.

  6. Love the card and my first thought was of Brady, before I even read the post. There is no doubt Brady can master anything he chooses to (or does to make his mom happy : ) Hooray for Lexi and go Muffster! Ann, your dedication fills me with inspiration, as do your creativity, your courage (to be a teacher!) and everything else about you. Keep smiling : )

  7. Very elegant card, Ann. The pearls always finish cards of so perfectly, don’t they? I would think that your very talented son could master heat embossing, under Mom’s expert guidance, of course! Congrats on Lexi’s wins and all the best in Muffy’s chase to capture that final major win.

  8. I felt as though I should be writing lyrics with your sentiment… beautiful, Ann, and I’m sure your son will love it. Congrats to Lexi also.

  9. Perfect Holiday card for Brady!!! Love how you used the music notes in the DSP!! Congrats on Lexi!! Good luck Muffy!!

  10. Every time I see this paper, I think of Brady! Of course he will be able to master the heat tool. My question is, will he want to change anything like maybe use candy dots instead of pearls? Wow, Cruz is gorgeous! I can see (sort of) what you mean about the stance thing vs. her brother. Congrats to Lexi and her brother. Go Team Muffy! I think this will be the weekend for her! Good luck to all and have a safe trip!

I’m sure any son of yours will know how to heat emboss in a N.Y. second too!
Congrats to Lexi’s wins. So sweet. PS: Love those large pearls! I have them and haven’t even used yet… of course I haven’t sat still in a while with this new position at work! whew!

  22. I love your cards all the time. When I see something you have used and I do not have that product, I am so tempted to order it.
Keeping my fingers cross for a big win for Muffy. What awesome pictures you posted today. Congratulation to Lexi! What a beauty she is and her brother too.

  23. You nailed it again. Beautiful card Ann. If my 7 year old can heat emboss, I’m sure Brady can. My kids teach my customers. I teach my children what I’m going to cover in stamp class. It gives me a chance to work out the kinks and my kids love stamping.

  24. This is beautiful and so elegant looking! I definitely think Brady could master heat embossing! Congrats to Lexi and her littermate! Good luck to Miss Muffy this weekend, I’ll be pulling for her to take the win! Have fun!
