One Fish, Two Fish, Island Indigo Blue Fish for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week we have a Clean and Simple Masculine Challenge for you. As for me, I couldn’t wait to create a Father’s Day card for Brady to give to his dad.  Because Brady is upbeat and a little non-traditional, like his mom, I decided to incorporate Calypso Coral into the design.  I hope you enjoy today’s card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Easy Masculine Cards
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Embossed bass! Textured tuna! Whatever the species…they look a little more exciting when passed through the Big Shot with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s a quick and easy way to add interest to a clean and simple card.
  • Bright banners! Island Indigo and Calypso Coral are a dynamic duo for sure! Bold and bright, each color can stand up to the other as a true equal.
  • Fishtails! A trio of banners mimic the “vee” of the fishtails, as well as the chevrons, thus pulling the entire card together.

Muffin’s New Lead

I couldn’t let Lexi Lou be the only girl in the house sporting bling with her show lead.  I just had to get one for Muffy Lin, too! While Lexi’s is pink, petite and perfect for a little girl, Muffy’s is a little heavier and a little “blingier” and looks fabulous with her fawn color.

As you read this,  Muffy and I are headed to Island Lake, Illinois, where she will be spending from Monday to Friday with her new handler for a little bonding time.  Muff has several important shows in a row, so Team Muffy is going to fine tune some of her skills. I will definitely miss my little helper for sure.

What do you think of today’s clean and simple masculine card?  Although they may not be traditional masculine colors, I really like the bright, fun look. What about you? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  Your comments are important to me.  And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  1. What a fantastic card… the chevron embossing looks so good with fish stamp. Very cool! Love your layout!

  2. Love all the white space and your color choices, but mostly the mix of the stamped images with that embossed chevron pattern. Super idea.

  3. Ann love your fishy card and i think the colors are FAB! Afterall.. aren’t salmon coral???
Love the banner “tails” pulling the look together (I’ll be CASEing that part)… and the embossed does give movement to the fishies.

  10. Great card for Brody to give his Dad! Good color combo and love the fish tails. I really appreciate how much time you take to add all of the pictures to go with your instructions! Love Muffy’s lead bling! Gorgeous colors. I agree with Dar, would like to have a necklace like that myself. Safe travels and have fun bonding with the new Team Muffy! Hugs

  11. I think you hit the masculine challenge head on. Very nice. I like the idea of using the embossing folder over the stamped images. Muffy’s bling is just awesome–would wear something just like that for a necklace myself. At the knitting shop I visit often, they also do a lot of jewelry design. I need to check out their beads. Have a great week. Dar

  15. Great card, as always! Love the logic of the fish tails.

  16. Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and all.

However think about if you added some great visuals or video clips to give your posts
more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and video clips, this blog could certainly be one of the most beneficial
    in its field. Awesome blog!

  17. I can see a lot of guys loving this card. One of our SIL’s likes to fish.

I’m sure Brody and Lexi will miss Muffy too. They will just have to get into trouble by themselves for a while. 🙂

  18. Love the comments about the tuna and of course the fishtailed banners! That chevron embossing is so clever and sort of like waves. Love it! I think Brady will love this card for himself but will give it to Kim who will love it! Great card with the texture and the colors.

Bling for Muffy is so pretty and will look really good with her fur. Team Muffy shirts in those colors? I wish her well with her new team! Maybe we will see her image on the walls like in the video clip etc. That was an amazing video clip, almost like being there! Have a safe trip back!

  25. Great card for your hubby, Ann!

  26. Amazing! I knew this card was perfectly pulled together but couldn’t pinpoint why till I read your explanation about the banners and the fishtails and the chevrons. You’re such an artist! Orange and blue are very masculine here in Florida – some team’s colors : ) Love Muffy’s bling – sorry you have to do without her for while.
