It’s Thursday and time to play with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts! The talented Margaret Moody has a fabulous sketch for us this month. Don’t you just love all of these layers? Since I needed to design a Mother’s Day card for a class I am teaching, I did just that. I apologize for using the Field Flowers stamp set again, but my inspiration for this card was my own mother, and I knew that she would have loved these images. Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long.
- Two steppin’! The blossoms were stamped in Crumb Cake ink and overstamped in Soft Suede. When doing two-step stamping, I always use a Stamp-a-ma-jig. And remember, use a lighter ink for the main image, and a darker hue for the overstamp.
- Pearl on a perch! What better place to put a Pearl than on top of a button for a “pearl-fect” touch! Extra leaves were stamped and snipped to add more foliage.
- Think outside of the…oval! A trio of snipped blossoms extend beyond the oval. Popping them up on Stampin’ Dimensionals brings them to the forefront.
I will admit that the tears flowed freely while creating this card. A flood of emotions that I hadn’t felt for many years poured over me. My mother loved flowers. And although it may sound funny, the color brown was one of her favorites. I know she would have loved the linen thread and the pearls, as well as the Victorian feel of the border. Every single design element was selected with her in mind. It’s hard to believe that my mother has been gone for thirty years. When someone lives on in your heart, they never leave you…
As always, your comments are important to me, so won’t you please let me know what you think of today’s card? And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create, I am only an email away. Until next time…

I never tire of field flowers! Beautiful!
Beautiful, Ann. I especially like the color combo.
This is beautiful, Ann! Wonderful tribute to your mother.
You know this is my favorite set. I would have never thought of using brown but it is just stunning. All the embellishments are the pearl-fect final touches. Your hand cutting of the leaves could not have been easy. Thanks for sharing the personal story of this card. I too have cried on occasion while card-making. I often think that the emotions behind the card make them super lovely. HB to Lexie and congrats to Muffy. Rain, rain go away! D
Simply too gorgeous for words! I miss my mom too. It will be 9 years Memorial Day. Hugs!

Never apologize for creating with these beautiful floral images, Ann…I am always happy to see them. This card is so beautiful. I can feel the love you poured into each luscious layer. The embossing is gorgeous, and the stamped images are so sweetly vintage, it just touches my heart. What a wonderful tribute to your mom. Hugs!
Gorgeous card. I love the colors. It’s a beautiful tribute to your mom. How wonderful when we have special memories of our moms. My mom is gone too but is never forgotten.
Such a beautiful card which was truly made from your heart with your Mum’s memories close in your thoughts. Our Mum’s may be gone, but they live on in our hearts. My Mum truly loved the darker shades of flowers and one of her favorites was the rust colored Mums. She would have loved to have received one of your cards done in these lovely shades. Thanks for all the sharing that you do…keeps me inspired to keep creating.
I love this card. The color is absolutely amazing!! And there are some sets that just have to be used in many different ways for many different times. so beautiful!!
Beautiful card! The embossed layers, popped up flowers, and pearls look gorgeous together. Your mother would certainly have loved and appreciated this card.
It is amazing how quickly 30 years pass. My father has been gone 25. Sometimes it seems like it was yesterday and sometimes it seems like a lifetime ago.
Ann this card is gorgeousness X 2.
Love all the textures and how the flowers overhang the doubble frame. The pearls look fab as the flower centers but expecially like the one on the button. I know your mom would have Loved it too.
I do know what you mean about missing your mom. I miss both my parents EVERY day and drive past the cemetary on my way TO work only, just to chat with them as I drive by. I wish everyone loved their parents like I did. Such great memories and well deserved tears… hugs.
I can tell that this card is from your heart. Simply stunning, Ann! Thanks for sharing this lovely tribute to your mom.
So gorgeous! Love every inch of this stunning card, so beautiful!
Your story touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I lost my Mother 6 years ago, and not one day goes by that I don’t think of her.
Your card is beyond gorgeous.
This is so touching! My Mom has been dead for 24 years, and we never get over missing them. Have you thought of framing this card in your Mom’s memory.
Beautiful! Love field flowers set. You sure have a way of making neutrals pop! TFS!
Ann you outdid yourself this time! Lucky class, they are going to be blown away with this card!
Ann. . Your mother would be very proud of you. You do beautiful vintage work. I look forward to your inspiration and you have touched many hearts today. Happy Stamping– Sandy
GORgeous! SO Ann!
What a lovely card! The sketch has so many layers and I would have a hard time creating something as lovely as you did.
The biggest fan of my cards is my mother. She always comments on the cards I take for her to use.
Love this card and the colors that you used
Ann this is so soft, delicate and feminine. The muted colors almost look like a layer of clouds over the design and it almost leaves you breathless. Your sweet emotions were definitely an inspiration to the beauty of the card. Thanks for sharing your interpretation of a Margaret Moody design.
Very pretty card and all that fussy cutting really makes it. I love your artistry and design, it makes me think outside my….Oval! How wonderful this card is in memory of your mom.
Beautiful card Ann. I made six cards yesterday. Some I liked a lot and others were okay. Then I look at your card and I can only go ahhhhhhh!
Lovely card, Ann! I love the browns and the textures. The perch was the “pearl-fect” touch! It looks just right!

Such a beautiful tribute to your mom. Thinking of you as you think of her.
Wow, that is truly stunning! The flowers and leaves look so real. The rest of the card looks so “rich”. Just gorgeous. Glad you got to spend some time honoring your mom. I too like brown. In fact, it’s the only thing in the world that can make baby blue look good : )
Oh Ann – this is lovely! That’s one of my favourite stamp sets and I like the colours you’ve used too! Somehow I don’t think our mothers every truly leave us…
This is such a beautiful card. I love layers! Your mother would have loved it. My mother has been gone many years but certain things will remind me of her so she is really not gone just away. Have a great day.
