What could be better than a plain old, ordinary Thursday? A Pals Paper Arts Thursday…that’s what! This week we are featuring a delightful color challenge: Primrose Petals, Pool Party, and Real Red. Since I needed another card for Valentine’s Day, I pulled out stamps, paper, punches and inks and set to work. I hope you enjoy today’s easy card!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Punch a Bunch with a Retro Vibe
This card measures 5-1/4″ square.
- Honeycomb hearts! Pool Party makes a splash when embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. And those little cells seemed to be crying out for Real Red hearts, punched with the Small Heart Punch! Don’t you adore this retro color combination? Adhering the hearts is the only part of the card that takes time, otherwise it would be a quick and easy card.
- Lovely layers! A Primrose Petals Scalloped Heart, snipped from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper collection, anchors a Pool Party Scalloped Heart from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set. The smallest Hearts Collection Framelit was used to cut the top heart from my favorite pattern from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper collection.
- Button and pearls! “Be My Valentine”, from the Delightful Dozen set, was inked with Soft Suede and stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock. A Pool Party Button and Basic Pearls are the perfect accents.
With the Pool Party and Real Red colors, and with this style of sentiment, don’t you think this card has a little “retro-action” going on? Won’t you let me know what you think in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

So pretty Ann! Love the beautiful hexagon background! Thanks for the inspiration!
Such a great idea to fill those honeycombs with hearts! Love, Love this ‘tines day card.
Ann – Your work is always so gorgeous, but I have to be honest, your sweet pooches are what brings me to your site! lol I love to see their adorable faces, your cards are a bonus! 🙂
Ann,
Love the hexagon backgound on your card… so cool. (wish we had a punch/die/?)and core’dination paper is fun to use with it too.
Lovin’ your retro card. (my house growing up had a kitchen color skeme of pool party/teal? kitchen floor and appliances, linoleum, tiles in the bathrooms, etc.)
For the challenge… I love what I see from the DTs, you gals make this look so easy. I’m staring at the colors and ….welllll…… got nothing happening!
So creative once again. Just love the little hearts in the honeycomb. I just made 25 SU Valentines for my grandson’s party at school. They are winging their way to TX. I do this every year for him. His mother really appreciates it too. This year he is old enough to sign his name–maybe 5 a night till he gets them done. I used the Up and Away set.
Hi Ann! What a fun Valentine! Love the retro vibe and how you added the small heart to the background. The sweet pearl flower is adorable!!
I’m heading to the store to gather ingredients for your recipe you shared last week. I think that will make a great weekend meal! I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for a new dish to try!
love the wee hearts in each hexagon cubbie! beautiful card, A not K.
Wonderful Valentine card, Ann! Love these colors paired with the Natural Ivory! Some lucky recipient is going to feel so special receiving this card on Valentine’s Day!
Fun details! The hearts on there are great! Is the little pearl flower one button or did you make that up yourself? It is really fun. What a bright and cheery valentine!

The pearl flower you made is another idea that I will likely borrow. Wonderful Valentine!
What a coincidence! My plan was to put hearts in the honeycomb embossed areas too. I cheated though and bought some little heart stickers because my MIL called yesterday and wanted 8 Valentines for her great grandchildren. Love your card!
