Here it is, Monday. I don’t know about you, but I have no idea where the weekend went. I do know that I spent Sunday evening watching the Super Bowl, primarily for the commercials. During that time I created Card #5 in my “Got Ten? Make Twenty” series. These are cute and stylish cards designed for the busy stamper…with the definite plus of being quick, easy and mailable. Many of them can be stamped in ten minutes, and today’s card is no exception. Where does the “Make Twenty” part come in? These cards use Stampin’ Up!’s Note Cards, which come 20 in a pack. By the end of the series, you will have 20 all-occasion cards. I hope you enjoy today’s “Thanks So Much” card.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Got Ten
This finished card measures 5″ wide x 3-1/2″ long.
- Let the paper work for you! The circle containing the beautiful blue flowers was simply punched from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper. A few Pearls were added for interest. It doesn’t get any easier than this!
- Feeling dotty! The sweet Calypso Coral Polka Dotted paper, also from the “Tea for Two” collection, coordinates perfectly with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This is such a cheery color!
- Banner banter! The “Thanks So Much” sentiment from Oh, Hello was inked in Island Indigo, and stamped onto Whisper White card stock. A little snip-snip with the Paper Snips transforms it into a cute sentiment banner.
Don’t forget that Sale-A-Bration is in full swing. For every $50 you spend before shipping and taxes, you are eligible to earn free products. (See the FREE Sale-A-Bration items HERE.) The items used to make this little “cutie card” would be perfect for a Sale-A-Bration purchase. Let’s take a look at the key items:
Speaking of thank you …
Three years ago today, upon the death of my beloved Missy the Boxer, I wrote one of the most difficult posts I have ever written. Missy was my “heart” dog…that once in a lifetime dog that truly leaves pawprints on your heart. Although she had lived a long life for a Boxer, I was not prepared for the day she left us. You can read the original post HERE. Many of you were there for me at that time, and there were many of you whom I met for the first time as you comforted me in your comments. And for that, I thank you.
Today, Missy resides in a place of honor. Every morning, I touch her urn as I pass through the living room. Although her leash and collar are retired, Muffy eats her meals from Missy’s Fiesta dog bowl. Many times, I have noticed the Twins, and even little Lexi, paying their respects. Either they have some phenomenal sixth sense that lets them know that her urn is something special, or they are so in-tune to my feelings that they have picked it up from me. Of course, every night as I pass by on my way to retire for the evening, I once again touch her urn and wish my angel sweet dreams…
As always, your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them. Won’t you please let me know what you think of today’s quick and cute “Got Ten” card? Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…
BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!!!!!!!! ๐ (Found you through Nancy Rileys site!)
How right you are to call her your “Heart Dog”. My Heart Dog was Java – the first German shepherd I ever had, trained and showed. I lost him in 1988 at far too young an age and I think of him almost daily. Although we had other GSDs at the time, including his mother, there wasn’t the same connection as what I had with Java. They do indeed stay with us forever and I really believe he will be there at the Rainbow Bridge.
Oh Ann, how did I miss this post? It’s good to remember our special dogs and reflect on our loving memories with them. My heart aches for you as you miss her so dearly. I still grieve over the loss of my “boys” four and a half years ago. They were so special. I look at their pictures daily hanging next to my computer and that gives me great comfort. I miss them a lot when we travel to places they went with us. I always have tears and then laughter remembering the funny things they did. I know we will see them again. God made these wonderful creatures for us to love and I just know I’ll get to love them again. I don’t think I can read your original post. I just don’t think I could get through it Ann. I hope you understand. Know that I’m thinking of you and wish you happy times with your new crew!
I hope you will continue your series of simple quick cards even after the 20 are made. It is fabulous and I’m really enjoying it. Designing a mailable card can be a real challenge. Thanks for all the inspiration.
OK, thanks so much for making me cry my eyes out. I didn’t know you then so I went to read that post and good Lord did it make me cry. I read the whole thing with my sweet Shotsy in mind. He will be 12 this June, and I know that I will be going through this all too soon and it rips my heart out. You had my tears flowing in this post at the touching of her urn. Love the pics you posted of you and her. Trust that I know exactly what you feel. Hugs, Curt
Oh Ann, this post is beautiful! I’m shocked it has been 3 years…seems like yesterday. The photos are just beautiful and your ritual is so touching. I do believe dogs are in touch with the spirits of other dogs etc. It’s a special celebration of a wonderful love you’ve shared with another…your faithful friend!
Your card is very beautiful. I really enjoy the blues in the flowers and of course…pearly Ann is always present and adorning! Just that little tad of red ribbon…who’d think…but you!
Sorry about Missy, I went back and read the post of 2010 and it brought tears to my eyes. I understand your pain. Boxers are like no other dog I have had before. They do seem to understand every word and are so in tune to their owners. It sounds like Missy had a wonderful life and left you a lot of beauitful memories.
Your card is beautiful, I love the colors.
I didn’t know you 3 years ago, Ann, but I know now what a sweet and wonderful person you are (oh, yeah, and super-talented, too!). Any fur-baby that is lucky enough to have you as a mommy is truly blessed…as much as you love and dote on the Twins and your rotten-sweet Lexi, I can only imagine that your love for Missy was something like how I feel about my “baby” Doo–I can’t even think about losing her. *Big hug* for the sweet memories.
I love your card! It is simple yet full of bright colors, textures and fun…thank you for sharing and reminding us to let the DSPs we have to lead us! Thank you also for sharing about your Heart dog. We too had one and though she has been gone a lot longer, we still laugh about wonderful memories with her. And yes, I’m sure Lexi and the twins know that the urn is very special as well as reading you….wonderful!
I didn’t know you three years ago, but have thoroughly enjoyed reading your dog stories and viewing your gorgeous cards! I understand how close you can get to a loving dog. I had a cocker spaniel that passed away four years ago. I dearly miss him. We now have a German Shepherd who is our precious pet. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful creations and fabulous dog stories! Take care, hugs!
The blue flowers are gorgeous with the pearls. I just love the color combo. Yes – Death is one of the hardest things to happen to a person no matter if animal or human. Thank you so much for sharing.
The cards may be quick but still very pretty. I was surprised that the circle flowers were cut-out–great idea. I think most of us who are pet lovers have had/still have that one special pet that always remains so close to us. In my case it was a beagle, Corky. He came to live on the farm here when I had to move to FL for a few years. He was stolen–I think they thought he was a hunter–rather than the family pet. That was over 40 years ago. Dar
“Thanks so much” for the cutie patootie card! I was going to comment that your coloring is just the greatest and then I saw you punched the flowers out. Wel, your coloring is always the best anyway.
Now, I can have a good cry. I feel like such a bad mom – I didn’t keep the ashes of any of my babies. But, I do have their memories in my heart and that is what matters.
Chris R. from Iowa
Love the card. But I esp. love your comment about your 3 boxers paying respect to Missy. There is no doubt in my mind that they are attuned to your feelings. That mere fact is what has made certain dogs of mine so dear to me, how tuned in they are to their “Mommy”. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Ann, today’s card made no exception to the lovely look of these cards you make so quickly. Clever! Thanks also for sharing the furry babies with us. One day when I grow up I hope to be able to make quick cards LOL
Nicole
Love the card, the colors, and so quick to make too. I enjoy your blog and sharing your family with us. Thanks
๐ The tears are flowing. I didn’t know you then, Ann, but am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose one of our furry loved ones. Thanks for sharing the card. It is beautiful – love that color combo.
Very clever series! The cards is perfect for the busy stamper. Like the circle punch idea too!
I really like this card. It is such a cute little flower image and the layout and details are really neat.
Missy must have been a very special friend. I didn’t know you at the time but I do remember you mentioning Missy before. I truly believe that God has a special place for our animals that have left us.
very nice card; the dog talk…hhhmmm, can’t comment!
I really like the Cards for the Busy Stamper posts. They are a lot of help to me. I am in complete accord on your feelings about Missy. We have been through the same experience this past summer with Lucy and with other cats. My FB photo is with Lucy the day she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We also have a special pet poem that we use.
Another beauty and love the colors in this one. So cheery and bright. I’m waiting to get the oval dies. I told myself NO MORE SPENDING until I an outside order! hugs.
Missy has crossed the rainbow bridge and is watching from above.
Thinking of you.
Love your cards Ann!
I didn’t know you then, Ann, but can understand your special love for Missy. My “beautiful magnificent” yellow tiger cat (Chester) was the animal love of my life. He passed away 2 years ago at the age of 22 yrs. He resides on my dresser in a handthrown pottery jar and I talk to him and touch his resting place often when I am missing him. They touch our hearts and are always with us. Chester will always go with me no matter where! My thoughts are with you today as you remember your beloved Missy.
Ann this is one of your best color combinations yet! Of course my favorite colors are greens, blues and peach. So I’m a bit partial. :0) Calypso Coral is one of my favorites right now.
I didn’t realize how long I had been following your blog. I remember that post. I’ve grown to love your blog not just for the cards but even more for your furbabies! They make me laugh and smile. I hope today you think of only fond memories. Most of all thank you for sharing your creativity and special furbabies!
Simply fabulous! Love the color combo!
Absolutely love this card, Ann! Quick and easy, no doubt. Nice find with the punched circle.
Hugs to you! I lost my “heart” kitty a little over a year ago and still miss him very much. Thanks for sharing your memories and this lovely card.
I enjoy your posts and the cards that you make and share with us. But, I really like your dogs. I, too, had a “heart” dog. Her name was Miss Cadillac of Heidleburg and she was a rotte. We had her for just over ten years and she died the day after Christmas nine years ago. And each and every day I miss her. We now have a mini doxie and I love him to pieces but there is a special place in my heart that with only be for Caddie.
Julie
I don’t think I knew “of” you then… and I still look forward to the day I actually get to meet you in person ๐ but, we share something in common that only true * dog people * can share. I share your sorrow today but, you and I both know that they are gone in body but a piece of their hearts and souls stay with us. My dear departed Nikki was one of those “heart dogs”…. I carried on conversations with her where I swear she was talking back to me – I could hear her (did I hear her in my head or in my heart, that is the question). The strange thing is that I cannot tell you the date of the day I lost her. I was so consumed with grief that I have absolutely no idea what day it was! That is so odd. It doesn’t matter. I don’t want to remember. What I do remember, vividly, is the day we brought her home and all of the wonderful days that came after that. I remember that she was faithfully by my side during some of the darkest days of my life and was with me when I came out strong on the other side of them! I love that you touch her earn each day and I know she is still there in spirit, smiling because she meant as much to you as you meant to her ๐
It’s so hard to lose a dear friend whether it is a fur friend or a human one. Over the years I have lost some very special furbabies and something will happen to make me remember them. While we don’t have them with us physically we always have our precious memories!
Love your card. Great idea to punch out the dsp!
Cute card – can’t talk right now : (
I didn’t realize that I have known you for so long, Ann….Thinking of you today, and sending you love…
Such a sweet card…I love the blue and coral together. The swiss dot embossing is great, and how clever are you to punch out the flowers? Very clever!
Wow, three years already? I remember that day…I sat at my desk boohooing while I read your post. It’s so difficult to lose our furry babies.
Great card, thanks for sharing. Happy Stampin’!
