Stampin’ Up!’s Feeling Sentimental for The Paper Players

Can a card with inked edges be clean and simple?  It all depends on your definition of clean. If you interpret “clean” as being clean-lined with no torn edges, today’s card is indeed clean.  If  clean means lots of  “white space”,  this card once again meets that criteria.  But as you can see, I did ink the edges.  However, I am going to roll with the non-distressed edges and “white space” and certify this card as “vintage clean and simple”! Which is a good thing, since today’s challenge at The Paper Players is a Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge hosted by the talented Jaydee.  Remember…if it is clean and simple to you, it is clean and simple to us.  So grab those stamps and inks and play along!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Vintage Clean and Simple
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Go for the “Natural” look! Naturals Ivory card stock is my favorite choice for vintage-style cards. The slightly speckled appearance mimics the appearance of the Color Spritzer Tool.  It is the perfect backdrop for the Early Espresso Ferris Wheel from Feeling Sentimental.

  • Celebrate Sale-A-Bration! Feeling Sentimental, a set that you can select as a Sale-A-Bration perk (beginning January 22) with a $50 merchandise order, includes the versatile sentiment “Celebrate”.  Just think of all of the things you can celebrate…birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and more!

I think today’s card is another candidate for a CAS-MAS card…clean and simple masculine, especially if the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is switched out for the Square Lattice folder.  What do you think? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are very important to me, and I do read each and every one of them. By the time you read this post, I hopefully will be on my way home from a long weekend of dog shows with the girls.  How wonderful it will be to finally be home for awhile! Between dog shows and Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership, I have been away from home for 14 days this January.  Whew! I can’t wait to just stay home and stamp! Until next time…

Stamp Set:  Feeling Sentimental (Sale-A-Bration), French Foliage; Inks:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake; Card Stock:  Naturals Ivory, Early Espresso; Tools:  Sponge Dauber, Brayer, Big Shot, Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder; Glitz and Glam:  Basic Pearls

  1. Fab CAS MAS card, Ann! I like the embossing folder, that vintage Ferris wheel and the single pearl in its center.

  2. Lovely distressed goodness, right here! Very inspired to ink up this set after seeing your gorgeous card! 🙂

  3. Ann, you are becoming the queen of CAS! I love the vine embossing folder, the horizontal lines follow the lines of the focal image and keep your eye moving around the card. I love the placement of the pearl and the inking gives it your distinctive vintage feel but the card is still CAS.

  27. Great nostalgic card and like it for masculine too. Was wondering how much space this set takes up on the card, not too many out there to see, so thanks for this great sample The tip for squares makes so much sense but I wouldn’t have thought of it! Hugs.

  28. This is another great card. Brings back tons of memories.

  29. Ann, I love your vintage clean and simple look! The Ferris Wheel also brings back lots of wonderful memories of going to our town’s carnival as a little girl, and is still held every year in July! And I absolutely love that new Vine EF, one of my favorites now!

Enjoy being home with your family now, I’m not much for being away from home for long periods anymore either, the older I get the more I want to be home with my family, dogs, and my stamps! Hope the girls did well at their shows!

  30. This is such a wonderful vintage image and you showcased it beautifully – and even snuck a pearl in there 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend with the pups!

  31. I really like these new stamps in the SAB set! So much potential and you captured the vintage feel of the set beautifully! PS How did the girls do?

  32. Love it, Ann! Definitely clean and simple for me. Clean lines and not a lot of embellishments are what I consider CAS. It is my style of card. I am planning on using this set for my Feb. cards. Love what you have done with it.

  34. This is wonderful, Ann! I love the simplicity of the stamped image (what a fantastic stamp!!!) and the simple banner greeting. The chevron background is perfect. Wonderful! Enjoy being at home. I’m a bit of a Hobbit myself! Looking forward to seeing what is in the Sale A Bration catalog this time around. I’m finally through with my Hostess Club obligation, so I’m all yours now. LOL

  36. I love your vintage clean and simple style, Ann! I’ve yet to ink up this stamp set. I like the image stamped simply in black and the sponging definitely brings it back it time.

  37. Wow. Let me try to explain what this card evoked in me. First the ferris wheel took me to a carnival (one of my favorites). Then the vine actually hit me as that pattern that’s on those manly steel tool boxes for trucks – probably the way it was partially covered, I only saw the pieces of it at first. Then the “smudges” made me think of a flyer, on the ground, at the carnival. Welcome to my crazy brain – it’s as weird as yours is creative. Love the card!! Hope the girls won.
