Several people…well 5…have asked for the recipe for the treats which were pictured in Muffy’s post. Since Muffy is tuckered out after a fun-filled day of playing with her Christmas presents, I told her I would type it up for her. Here it is:
Gingerbread Boxer Biscuits
3 cups whole-wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup water
Heat the oven to 325 degrees. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray or oil.
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, ginger, and cinnamon. Mix in the oil, molasses and water, then let rest for 15 minutes. (I actually use my hands and knead it.)
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough until 1/4″ thick. (The dough will be kind of crumbly.) Cut out using cookie cutters, re-rolling the dough scraps and cutting out more as able. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet, then bake until firm, about 20 minutes. Cool on the baking sheet, then store in an airtight container. (The original recipe is from the Everyday with Rachel Ray magazine.)
All three of the kids LOVE these, and they are relatively easy to make, taking about 10 minutes prep time and 20 minutes to bake. These definitely score a “5 Paw” rating here at The Stampin’ Schach!

Thank you for the recipe! I’ll have to bake some for our German Shepherd! I’m sure he will gulp them down!:-) Thanks again and Happy New Year!
Thank you for the recipe. I hope to be able to make these for my friends who have fur babies. Are they for boxers only? Oh and where would I get a dog bone cookie cutter? Thanks Ann. 🙂

Henry is excited to have the recipe so I can make them for him. I heard Rachel Ray had that one and one for some doggie biscotti. I just had not checked her web site yet. Now, maybe he will leave the people treats alone! He stole a couple of gift bags and ate the chocolate out of one, a pair of gloves out of another and was walking around with a box of tea bags from the third bag. Honestly for Henry being so short he sure can reach on cabinet tops! Thanks Ann!

aWWWWW….. Thanks for the recipe I’ll have to try them out on the tribe here…
So wonderful to see Missy on your Christmas post… it’s always this time of year I think about Asti, which leads me to think about you and yours.
Take care my love.
Speak more in 2013!
Hi Ann
I love to make my furbabies biscuits too. If I am lazy I buy only USA made ones.
Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I loved yesterdays post. It was so funny. You have a great imagination. Give hugs to the furbabies!
Thanks Ann and Muffy for sharing the recipe. I think Harry would like them too. Perhaps I will make him some for Valentine’s Day or his birthday.
Wish I had a dog so I could make them. 🙂
I have made dog biscuits for friends’ dogs before, using the wheat flour and beef broth and I don’t remember what else, and they were well received. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Oops! I’m not very good at this…
Thank you! I was hoping you would post the recipe. Awesome!
These treats will be great for your own dog. IF you were thinking about paying it forward to make treats to donate to your favorite animal shelter, some of them won’t accept the homemade ones. My students were going to do this and found out they couldn’t. Hope you all had an enjoyable and meaningful Christmas!
These look nice and yummy. Might have to sample besides sharing with pup friends.
We don’t have a dog but these would make a nice little gift.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. I just need to get me a doggie cookie cutter :}
These look so yummy…can understand why the kids love them! TFS the recipe…
