Monochromatic Winter Memories for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players.  This week I am hosting a Theme Challenge:  Snowmen! I was limited on the snowmen stamps I own, so I opted to use the “Building Snowmen” scene from the Winter Memories stamp set.  To add a little variety to the Design Team samples, I used the emboss resist technique.  I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Emboss Resist
Today’s finished card measures 5-1/4″ square.

  • Emboss resist! The “Building Snowmen” stamp was inked in VersaMark and stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock.  It was then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Crumb Cake ink was applied in a circular fashion with a Stampin’ Sponge.  The excess ink was wiped away with a tissue.
  • Tails! One long tail of a Crumb Cake Seam Binding Bow is shaped and held into place with Glue Dots.
  • Snowflakes!  Snowflakes from Snowflake Soiree were randomly stamped in VersaMark onto Whisper White card stock.  They were then treated to the emboss resist technique.  Snowflakes created with the retired Northern Frost Decorative Strip Die were distressed with Crumb Crake ink and accented with Basic Pearls.

Here is what the Building Snowmen images looks like when watercolored.  What a difference  between the two techniques!  There is definitely a striking difference!

Do you need a few more snowmen images to get you inspired?  Here are some of my favorite snowmen cards from prior posts:

  10. Not one, not two but a whole parade of snowpeople cuteness! Love your post today and so glad you featured the emboss resist technique for this cute stamp! Great way to mix it up. You do the monochromatic look so well!

  11. Absolutely Ann-tastic! Love the vintage vibe and the pearl details that only you can do so beautifully. Super snowman challenge this week, my friend! 🙂

  12. Ann, this card is breathtaking! I would have never imagined that the Building Snowmen scene could be elegant. You are always *so* creative that it blows me away. I love the resist technique that you used to create your monochromatic card. There is so much detail, and I love the way the elements tie together: the resist used on the snowmen scene and on the snowflakes; the snowflakes in the background and the snowflake die cut-outs used as accents; the pearl bling used on each of the 3 main focal points of your design; the beautiful bow with sculptured tail accenting the monochromatic theme. Just beautiful!

  13. The emboss resist images you created look wonderful with the Crumb Cake sponging. What a great treatment of that sweet Winter Memories image. I also enjoyed the parade of snowmen cards that followed. Very fun!

  17. The embossed resist card is gorgeous and so rich looking. My kind of cards for me to make cause I don’t like to color not even when I was a kid I didn’t like to color. To much of a tomboy.
Your coloring is so wonderful Ann, I envy you. I just wish I enjoyed doing it. I will color if I absolutely have to but shy away from it as much as possible.
All your other cards are pretty as well.
Thanks for sharing those from years past.
