My Favorite Cards of 2012
During my long teaching career, I served as a mentor to many student teachers and first year teachers. One of the bits of advice I would give them was that they needed to take time for reflection if they were going to grow in their profession. What worked and what didn’t work with each lesson? What could they have done better? What would they change?
Although I am making cards now, I still believe that reflection is important if we are going to improve our craft. Join me as I take a reflective journey through 2012. I will be selecting my favorite card(s) from each month. Let our travels begin with the months of January and February.
January
Vintage Regional Card
This vintage style card first appeared on January 30. With its large rounded corners and vintage patterned texture, I was very happy with this card when I created it. I loved the spritzing and the daubing, and the sentiment banner. But upon reflection, I am not so certain about the snippet of Victoria crochet trim, and the Baja Breeze pleated ribbon seems a wee bit too bright.
February
Happiness for the Pals
Another vintage-style card was my February favorite. I love the scrunchied ribbon and the mix of patterns. It is the cover picture for the Stampin’ Schach Facebook page. But I must say that this card was a close second:
Happiness for the Players
With this card, I began my love affair with Poppy Parade and last year’s Sale-a-Bration products! I even dyed Very Vanilla Seam Binding Poppy Parade. Nearly 11 months later, I am still very happy with this card.
I hope you enjoyed today’s journey down memory lane…and that you will join me next week as we resume our journey. I also hope that you will join me tomorrow, when I have the honor of being Mary Fish’s Guest Stamper. I have a video to share with you, too. Until next time…
Ann, As a new demonstrator, I’ve learned so much from you! Your cards were so gorgeous and I was intimidated by their beauty, but I followed your great instructions and was able to recreate your designs. I love your red February card best but honestly, I love almost everything you do! Thanks for your generous spirit and your encouragement! You’ve always responded to my requests for additional information, your product shares are great, and I love keeping up with your 4 legged babies! Merry Christmas! I’d love to have the chance to win the blog candy but you’ve already given me so much! Thanks, Sheila Thompson
I love your “favorites” list. I remember you did this last year, too. I am always amazed by all the detail you include in your cards. They are truly works of art. All three of these are keepers, but if I had to choose, I’d choose February’s. Thanks for the chance to win such generous blog candy.
I just found your blog through Mary Fish’s site and I am glad that I did. What beautiful cards you make! Thank you for the chance to win blog candy and for sharing such wonderful ideas.
I am ejoying your Memory Lane cards. Also, your comments about teaching sound very helpful. You were a wonderful teacher and mentor, I’m sure. Ann, nobody does ribbon, bows, and pearls better than you!
Too hard to pick a favorite so let me just confirm that each one is beautiful.
I would say the January card is my FAVORITE!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
The ribbon may be bright but it adds a kick of modern to the vintage you love and do so well. The January card is still one of my favorites of yours from 2012.
Hi Ann! Such vintage eye candy to view! I feel like Patti that said she had forgotten them and it was like seeing them new all over. Just an example of how special your cards to each of us and that we never tire of seeing them in all their beauty. Being reflective is great. Without a blog though, my cards are sent away and gone from memory. That’s okay though, I can still try to be reflective after I’ve made mine this coming year. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday. Looking forward to the next stroll of cards from this year!
Ann, those cards are beautiful!! All have a serious wow factor!! Thanks for Sharon all your beautifu l vintage cards!!
Great video!! I have to say, I am partial to the Happiness for the Players card. It has that WOW factor!
All three cards are gorgeous!!! Just love your vintage style! Take care and Merry Christmas, hugs!
I love butterflies and vintage
I had forgotten about the January card. I love when you revisit your card posts and to read your comments!
Happy holidays!

I love the look of the “Happiness” card. You make it look so easy. My mother’s favorite emblem was a butterfly, which then became mine. I inherited the butterfly pin I gave her when I was quite young, about 50 years ago. Hard to believe! It’s usually difficult to pick just one of your cards. They are Always Gorgeous! Nancy B
They’re all so beautiful! I love your style on all your cards. Thank you for sharing your talent. Happy Holidays!!
I so enjoy your card walk down memory lane each year. The card you chose for your Facebook page so perfectly reflects you and your beautiful style.

I love February’s card. The color combo is awesome.

Always inspired by your cards and entertained by your boxer’s adventures! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I enjoy seeing your cards and all the layers you use. I need to get my mojo going again and hopefully the holidays and all the reminders of cards past will get me going. Thanks for the blog candy offer! Happy Holidays! suelynn99pa @ gmail . com
I love the January Card. The colors are beautiful. All of your cards are inspiring. Thanks for sharing your talents.
I love all of these but the Valentine one is my favorite! Probably because Poppy Parade is one of my all time SU favorites! I will miss it so much! Looking forward to seeing more of your favorites from 2012!
Beautiful cards, Ann. It is always interesting to see how creative you are with the SU products. You gave me some good ideas for future projects! Have a Merry Christmas and I can’t wait to see your creations in the New Year!
I love your Valentine card-I love the way you create these vintage cards and I look forward to seeing them every week. You have a talent that is like no other’s! And then wonder, why didn’t I think of that, I have a lot to learn from stampin’ up card making. TFS with all of us.

You are so smart! And the cards are gorgeous. As much as blue is not my favorite, I think that blue ribbon on the first card is perfection. The lace is OK, but maybe it could look a little different if it peaked out from under the left side of the little banner?? Thanks for sharing and for the advice – reflection…..

I fell in love with that butterfly card right off the bat. Absolutely gorgeous.

I agree. All great cards. Vintage is my favorite style.
love your blog
I love seeing your favorites, Ann! What fun to reflect and look over your projects. Your “January” card is my favorite of the three. Such soft, pretty colors.
All three of these are beautiful! Good job! 🙂
Merry Christmas!!
Love the January card. It is fun to look back on a year of cards. Waiting for the snow that has been predicted for two weeks now. Here’s hoping it is as much as you experienced recently.
I really love the Valentine SAB card. The tone on tonenis so striking. I, too, am going to choose some favorites from this year for my year end post. I’ so enjoy your blog and have adapted many of your ideas into my own projects. Thank you for continuing to share your talent with us. Blessings and Happy Holidays! Diane
If I had to choose, January’s card is my favorite. I like the idea of reflecting on the past, both in everyday life and card creating. I’m taking a page out of your book and will go back and look at my cards from the past year and see if the favorites are still my first choice. Thanks for sharing yours; at my age, I’ve forgotten the cards and it’s like seeing them new all over again!!!!
