Blizzards and Boxers
As much as Boxers love to romp and play in the snow, they are still inside dogs…and they certainly do not like wind gusts of 50 mph. After deciding that they did not like the looks of things off the back porch, where you could barely see the house across the street…
Or the look of things out the front windows, where the blowing snow had stuck to the screens…
They decided to just settle down for a long winter’s nap. Because of her alpha ranking, Muffy got the cushy round bed, where she could curl right up into a ball.
Lexi opted for the “dog chair”, stretching those puppy legs out while visions of Santa Paws danced in her head.
And Brody stretched out on the floor.
For those of you feeling the brunt of this winter storm, stay safe and warm. Until next time…
Wow! What a storm. Your puppies are so sweet!
Smart pups. So tempting to go to sleep now and wake up come Spring. The snow does make for quiet napping too. Great insulator. Lucky pups too to have a “mom” to feed them goodies and tuck them in for naps too.
Merry Christmas pups!
I could not imagine having three lovely canines to fill up my small home! They all do look comfy! No snow here in PA, but the rain was bad and my puppy hates to go out in the rain. Thanks for your blog candy offer! Sue-Lynn
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you so much for the chance to win this generous giveaway!

I think you need to change your name to Santa Ann…..!!!
Your blog candy would be a welcome Christmas gift in any crafters home.
Merry Christmas Ann.
The boxers appear absolutely unfazed by the blizzard. Warm and toasy inside, as they should be! Enjoy that snow for me, friend! Hopefully you will get some awesome stamping time in. 🙂
Hi Anne,
I check each morning to see what beautiful cards you have posted! I love your work. 🙂
It’s always delightful to read about your fur babies! They have the right idea for a snowy day!
Love the pictures of the dogs. Also love seeing your snow. We have none!!!! Stay safe and warm. Merry Christmas.
Ann, Well everyone looks cozy and comfy and outside looks scary and fantastic all at the same time. I have admit, I LOVE a white Christmas but want it to happen when EVERYONE is TOGETHER, never when they can’t GET together. does that makes sense? Then I want it all to go away when I have to go back to work! Wow I don’t want much, right?
Hugs.
I kind of wish we were getting some of your snow. I live in northern NH and we have lots of grass showing. Have a VERY Merry Christmas!
I love all your creations and hearing about the boxers activities.
Ann, your boxers are “wise”, enjoying the warmth of your home!
We hear you’ve had quite a storm. We’re expecting one tonight in No. CA. Hope your son is feeling better and that you have a happy holiday season. Keep giving your precious gifts of love. That is what Christmas is all about. Thanks for the wonderful presentations to all of your blog followers. I look forward to your informative and “fun” postings regarding family, and the darling “dog tales”. There is a special warmth in what you share.
Diane G.
Awwww…poor Brody!!! :O( He has to lay on the floor?! No fair!!! LOL! They are all so cute! I love the snow so it looks fun to me…as long as you don’t have to drive anywhere in it. Stay warm!!
Your photos are lovely … from indoors … and I think the dogs have the right idea. If I didn’t have so much to do, I’d copy them! Thanks for sharing so much with all of us.
We were lucky here in Joliet, IL….just some high winds and a dusting of snow.
Glad you and the family are all safe and sound! We probably had 7-8 inches maybe but it had some rain first that froze. Des Moines had it worse than us. Plus, all that wind blowing around it was hard to tell how much. Mike drove me to work since he was working from home. No power outages but a few flickers, thankfully. Henry is wishing his little basset legs were a bit taller so he could go pottie easier! He would sink in the snow and you know the rest! Stay warm. Give Brady some warm hugs – how is he doing with his wisdom teeth surgery?
Chris R. from Iowa
Ann, this is such a beautiful scene with the snow and all, ready for a white Christmas. Stay warm and safe. During the Christmas holiday season, I like to give rather than get. This year I have been doing volunteer with the middle and high schools that my kids go to to help with staff luncheons and baking cookies for teachers and staff. This is my second year and it’s such a delight to see those smiles on teachers and staff. They have done so much for the children and this is just a small token to give back.
Love it when you post about the fur babies. They are amazing. Glad that Brody is doing ok now. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!!
Love your dogs. Dog lovers and card makers are my favorite type of people…….Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Your dogs have a wonderful idea! Snowing and blowing here in Columbus right now. My girls (my daughter and new granddaughter) are sleeping right now. My husband is stuck on I70 on his way to come and get me. We might just have to stay here for the night! Take care!
Stay safe and warm! Just a tad of snow here in NW Ohio…very cold and windy! Very sweet and precious pics of your boxers! Thanks for sharing! Take care and Merry Christmas!
Your furry babies are cute! Hope you all stay warm 🙂
Oh, what great pics of your beautiful trio! It amazes me at the short life span of our doggies when they get so much rest and little stress in their daily lives. Hope you are safe and didn’t lose any power. That is always my fear with these kind of storms. Only a dusting of snow here and my kids were hoping for a snow day. Not even a delay. Great stamping weather or cookie baking though.
Merry Christmas Ann!
Gifts at Christmas! How nice!
I think Brody, Muffy & Lexi have the right idea. Stay inside where is is warm & safe. Wishing you many Christmas Blessings.
I have to agree with Brody, Muffy & Lexi. I think they have the right idea. Stay inside, warm & safe. Wishing you many Christmas Blessings.
Love it
Gotta love our doggies!
What a good day to stay inside all curled up! I’d say it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at your house. I remember a Christmas when we had snow. It was snowing great big beautiful flakes. My Aunt Peg & Uncle Herbie were spending Christmas with us on their way to FL. They were trying to get out of the snow and we had a friendly battle going about the snow. Sadly, Aunt Peg died last night. How nice to see your blog about a favorite Christmas gift and this one about the snow and remember that! Thank you!
Looks like my kind of guy!
Maybe we should all take a cue from the pups and take a rest either from the storm or the hectic holiday. Love the pictures.
I love you choices in cards, and dogs…..so sweet!
I love hearing about those beautiful dogs of Yours. I’m with the dogs, snuggle in a warm bed! I’m not a snow person, like to look don’t like to deal with it! The view to the other house is beautiful.
It seems like they were just puppies and wow have they ever grown. You and your family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Mary
My dogs were laying out in the snow – they absolutely love it. The 3 cats on the other hand, piled up on top of each other and shared their little house without a problem for the first time ever! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

Lovely doggies – even more lovely Blog Candy.
Hi, Ann! I just started following your blog – LOVE your work! My inlaws live in Cedar Falls, IA and hope to come up to see us on Sunday in MN. Hope those winds calm down! Merry Christmas!
Love the dog pictures. They look soooo comfy! Thanks for the blog candy chance & Merry Christmas.

Love the pictures! I’ve never seen snow like that. Our cats are the same. The alpha, the female (naturally), gets her pick of the warm pads and bed. Then the boys take the other two.
Here in Central Iowa, we also had a snow storm – 8″ at most. But our son got here before the snow started so we had a couple nice days with him. I think your boxers are a lot smarter than some people, preferring to stay inside rather than go out in this weather. We had a 25 car pileup on I-35 with 2 fatalities. So sad, especially around Christmas. Stay safe and warm!
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas! That is awesome!! Enjoy the warm fire place and christmas music! The pups are awesome, love the updates!
Brenna
Merry Christmas to you and your family which of course includes the dear boxers. Snow in central Washington State, too–but nothing like you’re experiencing!!
Jeanie in Wenatchee, WA
Had a great 2012 checking out your beautiful projects on your blog! Can’t wait to see what you create in 2013! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Thank you for a year of wonderful inspiration with your beautiful cards. Merry Christmas!
Looks like a familiar site, Ann…just like at my house! Someone came through yesterday morning with a truck and blade but the snow plows still have not been through. It was too nasty to even go out and play in it! Sunny and calm today but still can’t get out and that is ok.
Ms. Sophie had the same ideas as your sweet ones. She didn’t even want to go outside and flat out refused a couple of times!
Stay safe, warm, and stampin’ my friend!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
Brrrrr….I’m in Mesa, AZ and our high today will be 71, which is too cold for me! I don’t know how you live there but I would be right there with the boxers today!
Cute Bridal Shower card! The pearls make a nice addition to the umbrella. 🙂
Loved the pictures of your three “children”. They look like they are taking it all in stride. Our daughter had a hard time getting her “Lucy” to go outside.
We got snow yesterday but no where near what they said we might get. Very windy though. Power stayed on but lights flickered. Cable and Internet did go out twice. Just glad we stayed warm.
LOVE those pictures. Stay warm and safe. I remember those blizzards from Wisconsin. Merry Christmas! Woof, woof – it’s cold here Muffy – 38 degrees – yesterday it was 34 – What’s snow? and can you eat a blizzard? Woof Woof!
I think your fur babies have the right idea. No snow here yet. But would love some for Christmas. So send some this way. I won’t mind since I don’t have to drive to work anymore thanks to the Hostess Brands closure. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Kim Smith
Ooh ms Ann , your pictures are so BEAUITIFUL ,and your baby’s are just so cute , have a wonderful merry Christmas and a happy New Years to you and yours ,
Hugs frenchie ,
No snow here for us Just cold and high winds. Your scenes are beautiful! Oh the upside is that your can keep what Christmas cards you have left with her sleeping, right? LOL Merry Christmas to you and your house!
We have had high winds and rain, but no snow. I guess the upside is that your remaining Christmas cards are safe, right? LOL
Dianne Eure
Love the stories and pics of the boxers. We had a rotte for ten years and she didn’t like the rain but snow….OMG..she would play, roll around in it, scratch her back in it…just loved it!
Certainly do miss her 🙁
Your pictures remind me of our “Snowmaggedon” here in the East a couple of years ago! Just rain and wind for us right now but I sure would like some snow for Christmas! Muffy, Brody and Lexi all sure look cozy and warm, unlike our goofy Goldens who beg to go outside and play in it and then drag all the mess in the house! But it’s definitely fun to watch them! Maybe once it stops snowing and the sun comes out your babies will want to go out and explore that funny white stuff!
We had snow and then rain and then rain again and the snow all melted and woke up this morning to snow again with really bad winds. Be safe!
I miss how pretty it was to look at snow but not how cold it was to be out in it 😉
My pups used to love to run and play in it though. I have some wonderful memories.
Your pups look warm and comfy. You just need a couple more beds 😉
-Mary
Love those boxers! They look so comfy! Stay warm and safe and cozy inside!
Debbie Gasko
Wow we are just having light snow here in MI. Good day to stay inside with cocoa & stamp, stamp, stamp.
debbieanng@yahoo.com
Awww, love the pictures of your babies sleeping. They are adorable. TFS! That snow is beautiful to look at, and I hope we get a little this year, but it is not fun to drive in, so I will settle for our boring rain and winds.
Merry Christmas! Sure looks like Christmas at your house. Here in central PA we had high winds and RAIN!!! No snow! I really wish that we’d get some snow for Christmas! Your brood are so darn cute, and look so comfy and cozy. Ah, the life of a well loved pet! May you and yours have Blessed and safe, holiday season.
Wow! I hope you all stay safe and warm! Your fur babies are precious 🙂
Inky hugs,
Janet
Wow! I hope you all stay safe and warm! Your fur babies are precious 🙂
Inky hugs,
Janet
Your pooches are adorable! My 5 doxies and mini Yorkie aren’t interested in going outside either, although it’s just starting to snow here in Ohio.
Thanks so much for the chance to win the embossing machine! Happy Holidays to you!
Reminds me of my childhood days when I lived in the
Midwest and we had snows like this. I miss them so much. Stay safe and warm. I hope Lexi experiences her first snow a little. Happy Holidays!
Awwwwwwwwwwww! Stay warm and inside. We are getting the winds here today. Oh yeah it was the end of the world today and the time has lasped past that “time”. i guess I better pay my bills now! Ha
Oh my, what a scene in those photos! The puppies all have the right idea, that’s for sure. Stay warm, and have a Merry Christmas!
Smart babies! They are exactly where I would be during that kind of weather.
Stay warm and safe. Those high winds aren’t much fun! Merry Christmas, Ann!
I am with you when it comes to the winter blizzard. Totally in the middle of it here in Michigan…right on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Makes for a perfect gift wrapping and paper crafting day. Merry Christmas!!
They are so beautiful, as is the snow. We had a thunderstorm at 2AM and it’s very very windy and the temp is on its way down. Will go all the way to 41 on Saturday. Don’t you feel sorry for us?
Wow, the snow is beautiful. All we are getting is the wind! Merry Christmas!
I don’t miss those Iowa blizzards in the least. Just keep it there but do stay safe and cozy warm during those cold winter days.
Your babies look so relaxed and cozy just laying around. and not getting into and tearing up your cards.
We have the cold temperatures but no snow for us here so no white Christmas for us but nothing unusual here in Texas.
Wishing you and your family Ann a Very Happy and Blessed Merry Christmas
ColleenB.
Wow…we had wind and rain, but too warm here in NC for snow. I was safely tucked in my kitchen, baking cookies like mad. I hope you have a warm and wonderful Christmas with your family …the ones with and without fur, too!
I hope all of you everywhere stay safe and warm with all of the storms from our West Coast to the East Coast! Your sweet puppies have found the best and most comfy places to ride out the blizzard…I would join them if I had that weather! I am in the Bay Area of CA and we get occasional cold snaps and some freezing and rain…I love to see the snow but am glad I don’t have to live in it. Thank you for sharing these adorable pictures!
So reminds me of MN winters from years ago. Now I’m blessed with rain and more rain in Western WA. Sure can tell your boxers are spoiled and comfortable keeping warm inside. Keep warm and stay safe, Ann!
Oh, for a snow day to stay inside with a bottomless pot of cocoa and stamp, stamp, stamp!
Ooooh, I was wondering if you were in the middle of that storm! Looks like the boxers are smart to stay inside! I wish we could have just a little of that snow….we just have BORING RAIN!
Wow, what a snowstorm! Stay nice and warm inside with your furry friends!
I say they are three smart boxers!
Stay warm and safe! I saw reports of the storm on the news and I can say the weather outside looks frightful.
Oh the life of a dog! What I wouldn’t have given to spend my day curled up in a chair. I can only pray that we will get a snow day tomorrow!
I am not sorry to be missing all the snow.I think your boxers have the right idea. You be safe too. Dar
Your pups look so comfy napping. Stay safe, Ann.
Ann I’m not sure where you live. I’m near Madison WI and we got over 12″ of snow. I should have been stamping but read instead. Looks like it will be another snow day tomorrow so I will stamp then. Hope the pups get out to enjoy the snow a little bit.
Wow, stay warm and safe inside, Ann! I was thinking about you today when I heard about the snowstorm in the Plains.
