‘Tis the season! The halls are decked and the dogs are jolly. Well…at least half of that is correct. We did not deck the halls this year, and for good reason. Lexi is a one-pup wrecking crew. Just like any kid at Christmas, she could not wait to get her presents, so Lexi and the Twins celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve.
Since this was Lexi’s first Christmas, the Twins were more than willing to answer her questions. Let’s listen in…
Lexi: What’s Kwistmas, Muffy?
Muffy: Well, Lexi, Christmas is when our human families celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Brody: And Santa Paws brings us presents!
Lexi: Who is Santa Paws? Do I have to be afwaid of him?
Brody: Nope! He’s also called St. Lick. He comes down the chimney with a bag full of toys and treats for all the good dogs. You don’t have to worry, Lexi. He won’t be leaving you anything but a lump of cat litter in your stocking.
Muffy: Brody! Stop it. You know Mom doesn’t like it when you tease the baby.
Brody: But she was bad Muffy. Remember this card she tore up?
Brody: And look what I caught on camera as she was trying to peek into the stockings this morning.
Muffy: And whose camera were you using? Is this the same camera you drug off the dining room table when you were a puppy?
Brody: You are just sticking up for her because you used to tear up cards, too.
Muffy: Let’s just get back to what happens at Christmas, why don’t we. Another thing we do, Lexi, is bake Christmas cookies.
Brody: And we also howl Christmas carols. I love “Bark the Hairy Angels Sing”.
Muffy: Or how about “Santa Paws Is Coming to Town”.
Muffy and Brody: You better not bark, you better not howl. You better not bite and you better not growl. Santa Paws is coming to town…
Muffy: We also take time to think about our loved ones who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Brody: Like Missy the Boxer.
Lexi: Who was Missy the Boxer?
Brody: She was Momma’s first Boxer. Missy now lives in Mom’s heart and also in this special vase called an urn.
Lexi: Can I see her? Will you come wif me, Bwody, and let me hold your paw so I won’t be afwaid?
Brody: Come on, little Lexi.
Lexi: Ohhhh! It’s beautiful…
Muffy: Do you have any other questions about Christmas, Lexi?
Lexi: Just one…Can I please have the rubber chicken?
From Muffy, Brody and Lexi, may your stocking be filled with treats and your heart be filled with love…and may Santa Paws leave you the rubber chicken of your dreams.

Merry Christmas from cold, snowy North Texas. Our dog, Oreo, went out to do her business this morning. Her paws touched the snow, she looked at me and said “No way!”, and hauled tail back in the house.
Merry Christmas to your family, Ann. Love reading about your fur babies! Wonderful Christmas story this morning. Might have to use it on my 2 sweeties, Lucy and Queen the Beagle.

I loved it! Merry Christmas to you & all the kids

Awwww! Our Christmas gift and miracle this year came in the form of our cat Jazzie! Santa Paws worked his miracle through the hands of Dr. Westerguaard to save her life, literally! We are grateful to have Jazzie and her big brother Edgard, as you are to have the twins and Lexi. With the happiest wishes to you and yours, thanks for the posts and inspiration all through the year!
I always love hearing the dogs version of anything. However, the Christmas version was the cutest! It’s always good for the older ones to teach the younger ones!
Happy Holidays to you and Yours and a special Holiday pat for Lexie on her first Christmas and for Brody and Muffy doing such a great job of explaining Christmas!
This is so lovely to read, Ann. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. It’s been a thrill to follow your blog for the last couple of years. I look forward to another year of vintage inspiration. xx

So much fun and how sweet to honor Missy’s memory. And you, you look like a young kid – Christmas and boxers must bring out the best in you : ) Merry Christmas to all.
Merry Christmas Pups. You may have been naughty at times this last year but you were also overwhelmingly nice to your human mama. Sharing your love and licks and hugs not to mention winning prizes and working hard. May Santa Paws bring you treats and the rubber chicken (or other toy) of your dreams.
