Happy holidays to all! Today I have the honor of being the incomparable Mary Fish’s Guest Stamper. It is always a thrill to be featured on her blog, Stampin’ Pretty. However, I will confess that on these days, I worry about what to create. Today I opted to make something distressed and vintage. In case you would like to recreate this card, I am including a video on “Achieving the Distressed Look”. I hope you enjoy today’s card and video. Merry Christmas, Mary!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Distressed and Vintage
This finished card measures 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.
- Emboss and color! Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder was used to heat emboss the Apothecary Art image onto Very Vanilla card stock. It was then faux watercolored using Blender Pens and inks. Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke pack a holiday punch! Tip: Embossed images are always easier to watercolor!
- Snip, pop, pearl! The Apothecary Art image was inked a second time, and selected blossoms were colored and snipped out. To add depth and dimension to the floral wreath, they were then popped into position using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Of course, a few Basic Pearls always add pizzazz.
- The “Goldilocks Syndrome”! Have you ever noticed that some sentiments are too small, while other sentiments are too big? Do you need a sentiment that is just right? Here comes My Digital Studio to the rescue! I simply printed out a perfectly sized “Merry Christmas” in Early Espresso using my home computer, and snipped it out.
- Do you find distressing, distressing? This video will surely help you recreate the background look of this card. Of course, like any of my videos, it is complete with bloopers. Why, it’s just like you are here stampin’ in my kitchen!
How I wish we really could get together and stamp in my kitchen! I guarantee that we would have a blast. Of course, you might have to put up with either Lexi or Muffy lying on your feet. And you read it correctly…not AT your feet but ON your feet! Brody has better manners. As always, your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. Won’t you please let me know what you think of today’s card? And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Don’t forget to join me tomorrow for the winner of the Sizzix Texture Boutique Embossing Machine blog candy. For details, see this post. Until next time…

Happy New Year Ann. I am just getting to read all my Google Reader posts for the past month after a hectic Holiday time. This vintage Christmas card is so beautiful. Thanks for the video on how to do the background. I especially loved the mmmm, mmmm, mmm part of stamping the water drops. Keep up the great inspiration in 2013.
I enjoyed the video very much, and I learned a lot also. Can you tell me more about the seven sided tool you used at the beginning of the video to roughen the edges of the card? Brady’s trumpet intro was fantastic!
Ann – Your card is beautiful! I love vintage and you do it so well. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas!
Ann – not only is this card COMPLETELY STUNNING, but your video is wonderful. I feel I am well-prepared to make a distressed card. Your speaking style is perfect for videos. Thanks!
Ann, your card is beautiful as usual. I enjoyed your video and want to thank you for showing how to use the color spritzer. I have one (over a year) and have been afraid to use it. Now I will. Hope Brady is doing will since he has had his wisdom teeth removed. Merry Christmas. Pam Carter
What a gorgeous card…really stunning Ann! Your video was done so well. Your pearl pick up tip is awesome and reminded me of baking cookies where you use a spatula to pick them up and slide off the pan. Guess you can tell what I’ve been doing today. lol. I too felt like I was right with you in your kitchen watching you. That is a gift my friend. Wishing you a lovely vintage Christmas.
Beautiful. Merry Christmas!
This is the first time I have seen your cards and this one is beautiful, I love vintage. So thankful for all you girls who are so creative and give us inspiration. Thank you
Simply stunning, Ann ~ so very talented. Love your video and reading your blog as always! Merry Christmas to you, too!
I enjoyed seeing your card on Mary’s blog, and I hope to view the video soon. And I would love to stamp in my kitchen or yours any time! With dogs or cats!
Merry Christmas Miss Ann! And thanks for sharing your distressing tips. Hm…typing that gave me a case of the giggles. It was so distressing you see. {grin}
Beautiful card though it got me wondering what it would look like with the new honeycomb folder. I love my Simply Scored but every time I set out to create that diamond look I seem to mess it up. So it just may be a lazy womans CASE for me.
Bless you for sharing all your gorgeous creations and may your Christmas be blessed too.
Hugs – Jean
Oh my goodness this card is breath taking. I can not take my eyes off of it. You have the knack for making the most beautiful cards. Thank you for sharing

Brenna
Ann, Loved your video on all your distressing tips. I think I need to practice with my spritzer tool, it doesn’t work as well as yours did, so maybe I need to pay attention to how I have it lined up (or not lined up!!!) Beautiful Card. Thanks for a great video and gorgeous cards.

Beautiful card Ann! Your work is always amazing and quickly filing up my Pinterest boards. Thank you for sharing your talent, all the inspiration, and your tutorials!!
Hi Ann……this card is stunning! Love the way you added dimension by strategically adding snippets of the flowers….GREAT idea….although I don’t think I’d have the patience to do so myself!

Simply stunning! This is just gorgeous! Love the video with all the fun little noises – that is totally me! My feel rarely touch the floor so I wouldn’t have to worry about the girls! Now, on to Mary’s blog to read those comments! Oh, loved the trumpeting on the video too, thanks Brady – hope you are healing nicely.

Beautiful card, Ann! I enjoyed your video, too. Thanks for all of your tips on achieving a distressed vintage look. I wouldn’t have known about all of the detail and care that you use to achieve that marvelous effect without your video.
Hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season! Wishing you and yours much happiness and all the best in the New Year!
Wow, Ann, your card is so elegant and fabulous! I came over from Mary’s blog to check it out…awesome tutorial! You are such fun! Love the way you picked up the pearls…

Fabulous. Maybe I would have understood chemistry if you’d been my teacher. 🙂
Your work is beautiful. Thank you.
Beautiful card. Loved your explanation of vintage in your video. I will have to give it try. Really enjoy your blog and the antics of Lexi, Muffy and Brody. I’m sure they bring you much joy in your life.
Your card is gorgeous! Thank you for the video. I use tweezers for pearls and rhinestones. I could never control the snips like you do. It sure would be fun if we could get together in your kitchen. If we were in my mother’s kitchen, Harry would be on your lap, not your feet. He doesn’t have the manners Brody has.
A beautiful card Ann. Isn’t MDS the greatest when you need something that you don’t physically have? Have a very Merry Christmas with your family and friends.
What a beauty! I sae your card on Marys blog. I would love to sit at your kitchen table to visit and stamp. The dogs would be an added bonus. Dar
I do wish I could come stamp in your kitchen. You could teach me so much about making gorgeous, vintage cards. Thank you so much for the video. I had wondered how you handle pearls without pulling your hair out. Now I can be like Ann and use more pearls. Thanks!!
Beautiful!!!! I’m so happy you are Mary’s featured stamper today — this is how I found you. All of your cards are beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your talent. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Ann, this is beautiful! I love this stamp set and still think that there should have been a “Merry Christmas” sentiment with it. It just lends itself perfectly for this time of year! The snipped flowers really pop – you are very good with your scissors.
Thanks for posting! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
I always love the look of a vintage card ! Happy Hoildays

I love the background with the cross hatch and pearls!
What a gorgeous card. It takes alot of time to cut out those small flowers and pop them up on the wreath. So glad you share your projects with us. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Beautiful!
Hi, Ann: I just discovered your blog and love the video on how to get the distressed look! Keep up the good work.

Nice to see you featured on Mary’s blog this morning! I recognized your card right away! Loved the video! Love distressing & sponging and wish you a very Merry Christmas Ann!
Another beautiful card. Really enjoyed your video. I would love to come stamp in your kitchen but I am afraid I would be too busy playing with the boxers and never getting any stamping done!
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
This card is beautiful! Love it! I can’t wait to try it out myself. Thank you for sharing with us! Have a great holiday yourself!
Beautiful, beautiful card! I loved the video and it almost did feel like I was sitting with you in your kitchen with Muffy and Lexi ON my feet! What a great time we would have for sure! I use the same technique for picking up the pearls, makes it so much easier! I’ve never used the Naturals Ivory cardstock, I will have to order some and try it! Thanks for showing us how to achieve your wonderful distressed look!
As I sit here drinking my coffee, I wish I were in your kitchen making cards with you-what a memory that would be!! I have used this stamp set so many times but never did it look like this beautiful card! Thanks for the video and the great tips. Here’s to stampin’ in your kitchen next year -TFS another gorgeous card!
