It’s Thursday, and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week we are featuring a fabulous sketch by the talented Margaret Moody. I inked up Frosty Friends and Make a Mitten, two of my favorites from the Holiday Catalog, for today’s card. Enjoy!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Watercoloring with Blender Pens
This finished card measure 5-1/4″ by 5-1/4′.
- Dazzle ‘n Pearls! Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Tangerine Tango, Marina Mist and Baja Breeze inks were paired with Blender Pens to quickly color this family of Frosty Friends. Dazzling Details makes a glittery blanket of snow, while none other than Basic Pearls add dimension as snowballs!
- Mitties! Cherry Cobbler mittens are suspended by White Baker’s Twine from a Cherry Cobbler button. The Delicate Design Textured Impressions Embossing Folder “Snowflakes” make an appropriate backdrop, and complements the snowflake theme.
I am in love with this Cherry Cobbler – Baja Breeze color combination, as well as Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party. I think they are both perfect winter card colors. What about you…do you have a favorite non-traditional holiday color combination? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?
Naughty Dog
A certain Boxer, whose name I shall not speak, has been expressing her opinion of my cards lately. First, I am assuming that she does not hold my watercoloring with Blender Pens in high regard, since she destroyed a Blender Pen. Hmmm.
And although I thought my country-chic card created with the mug from Scentsational Season was adorable, “She Who Shall Remain Nameless” nabbed it from the table while I was taking Brody outside. Unfortunately, I did not get it photographed before it was unceremoniously shredded. But here is what is left of it:
Even with her look of innocence, I don’t buy her story that Muffy did it. Arghh! Puppies! Until next time…

I know this is you because I see the pearls. Light-hearted card.
Great job with clean and simple. And you still manage to add all those extra little details without it seeming overdone. Love it. I can see that Lexi still has some growing up to do. But oh what an adorable pub she it!!
Ann, this is awesome! I agree, these colors are fabulous together! Love the textured panels, pearl snowballs, and of course those cute mittens!
You know I have to laugh at the naughty dog! Oh how I remember those days with our first Golden! Now you know why I rescue mostly seniors these days! She absolutely looks innocent!
What a fabulous card, Ann! I love how you used the pearls as snowballs. So clever and so you!
muffy did it! i believe. beautiful card . . . love the mitties!
This is so cute, love the mittens and the dp you used. OMGOsh your dog thoroughly enjoyed your card as well, lol.
Good thing she’s cute, huh? LOL. I love your pearl snowballs!! So “Ann!”
Oh, she’s a pistol, that little Lexi! I love how you call her “She Who Must Not Be Named”. So funny!
This is so cute, Ann! I love the pearl snowballs too!
“Nameless” looks very guilty!!
Your card is so cute, you are very talented.
Gorgeous card with mittens and snowmen! Love the pearls for the snowballs…too CUTE! And, the post about the naughty dog…ut oh! But, I couldn’t resist smiling at the sweet photo of your dog!:-)
Pearls for snowballs–they make the adorable image even cuter!
Non-traditional holidays colors–I like silver with pink, lavender, and/or light blue.
I wouldn’t buy that ‘Muffy did it look’ either. We know Muffy is a very experienced and helpful crafter.
Snow wonderful, I am so wonderful! I love this card! Just the right colors and texture. The idea of the hanging mittens is so cool! The coloring is wonderful too. Pearls as snowballs – how fun! I wonder if a touch of liguid glass or whatever it is on the light bulbs would show up? I used it on a card once where the light bulbs were a little bigger and it added just the right oomph. Just love the card.
As far as Lexi goes, just like in the Family Circus – Not Me must have done it! Now, if we would have looked into her mouth, maybe a touch of red on the tongue or in her teeth? I hope you can recreate it. I love that little mug from that set!
Colors, last year I did some cards with a purple and gold and they were gorgeous if I may say so myself! I love a rich blue with silver too. But, lately I have seen some cards made with brown and turquoise type of a blue which look so rich! I do know I am NOT enjoying hot pink or the limey greens for Christmas.

Love your card and using pearls for the snowballs is such a great idea!!!
Now for that Naughty Dog….if Brody was outside and the Naughty Dog is blaming Muffy, then I think we know who the one who is not named is. I’d be upset if I had that going on here but I’m sorry that I couldn’t help but chuckle. And I’m not sure she looked all that innocent in the picture. LOL
But she looks so innocent even caught in the act. I’m glad she didn’t get this beautiful creation! I love the richness of the red with the soft blue! Probably another CASE!
Oh, puppy joy!
Love this adorable card!
I love this card, those snowmen are so adorable and your coloring is so well done. I too love Cherry Cobbler with either of those two light blue colors, it reminds of me skiing on a clear, cold day with the blue sky and my cold, red nose ๐ ha ha!!
Actually, the red and light blue combination has been one of my favorites to use for Christmas cards.
Your wee puppy girl has been extremely naughty – love how you took a photo catching her with the evidence!!
That face says it all! “So now, what are you going to do about it?” I love it! Because it reminds me of certain bad cats around here, who just chewed up my fall arrangement in my foyer. My favorite non-traditional color combo would be Elegant Eggplant and Brushed Gold. Try it with angels or stars or Wise Men.
LOL!!! She doesn’t look at all innocent!! She seems to be saying WHAT?! You took Brody out and not me? You got what you had coming!! Next time I go with Bro’. LOL!! BTW….GREAT card!!!! LOL!!!
Beautiful card Ann!! Love the added touch of hanging mittens!! I did not have the mitten set on my list until I saw your last card with mittens. So I think you owe me some money…ha!! Enjoy the holidays!!
Ann love this card. Love the colors and those little pearl snowballs are adorable! Too cute.
PS: I’m really liking the mittens stampp/punch so much more than I thought I would, and now I after seeing your cards with little accents on the mittens, I might have to get the tiny little set that is stamped ON the mitten.
PSS: So sorry your card got ‘chewed’ by that little innocent doggie too.
hugs
Ohhh, naughty dog.
Love your snowman card. It is adorable.
Naughty little Lexi!! LOL! One time about a month ago, I made a VERY special thank you for a friend of mine who REALLY helped me out of a tight spot. I put my beautiful card on the counter, and when I woke up the next morning, found out that someone had chewed on the corner!! Cats are the same as puppies…frustrating at times, but cute! I was thanking God my cat only chewed on the corner instead of the whole thing. I went ahead and sent the card knowing my friend, the animal lover, wouldn’t mind….and since she helped watch my boys, and therefore my cats, too, I told her the cats were thanking her as well! She thought it was funny!!
Anyway….LOVE your pearl snowballs, and the hanging mittens!! This is such a cute card!!
Look at that innocent face…it COULDN’T be her!!! Love the card! Now hide it! ๐
Ann, you never cease to amaze me. You have the greatest design sense. I just *love* the way you always coordinate your backgrounds with your focal point. I love texture and bling, and you always manage to incorporate both in a way that blends so well together and enhances your design. I wasn’t a fan of that snowman stamp, but now I’m rethinking that. Your use of pearls for snowballs is so clever and adds such a wonderful touch. Your watercolor technique is superlative, by the way!
Don’t be too hard on your fur babies. Maybe they were just trying to tell you that they wanted more of your attention. ๐ No matter what, don’t we just love them! lol
Oh my! At least is was not your well broken in Color Spritzer Tool! ๐ Or it could have been your linen chair cushion, a memory I try to forget! ๐ Anyway, you gotta love ’em!!
I love this card, once again. The pearl snowflakes are perfect as are the hanging mittens! Cute, cute, cute!
Such a stinkin cute card and a stinkin cute boxer. Couldn’t ask for anything more to make me smile this morning. Dar
Furry Stinker!!! Such a cute card and puppy too!! Thanks for sharing!
I think I agree with what Traci said, it COULD have been spontaneous card combustion! LOL! This is one of those moments when your kid does something so aggravating that you want to kill them but just burst out laughing at them instead because of the look on their face! So sorry your creation was destroyed but it sure made a funny story and great picture.
This card is fabulous, Ann! I love the pairing of the blue and red…so cheery! And the mittens hanging off the main focal add so much interest. One of your very best, in my humble opinion! So sorry the other card was destroyed…
I love the blues with Cherry Cobbler! The nameless one seems to be fond of Cherry Cobbler as well…….lol! Your coloring is wonderful on the snowmen – just that little bit is all you need to showcase those guys!
Okay Queen of Pearls, I LOVE your pearl snowballs. Love, love, love this card.
I have to side with Lexi, I mean “no name”…did you actually SEE her tear up the card? Just because you walked in on this scene…it could have been spontaneous card combustion, and she happened by to see what was going on!
Hi Ann! Love this card! The mittens are a favorite of mine.
I feel your pain with the naughty dog. I came home from a SU meeting one night where we had a Halloween Card swap. I laid my swap cards on the table. When I returned to the room, 3 of them were shredded on the floor. My dog Benji was wagging his tail! He really enjoyed them.
OOOOHHH NOOOOOO!!!! Good thing she is so very cute (and that might not be enough)!! Fab card and so sad that we didn’t get to see the one that the, um, nameless puppy mangled. This too shall pass….I hope!
Uh oh! Naughty puppy!!! Will you remake the card? I’m sure it was STUNNING!
I just love the pearl snowballs
I also have naughty furbabies
You stories are the best just like your cards
Love the card (except the blue : ) and as for Miss Lexi, that doesn’t look like innocence to me, it looks like she’s just daring you to try to blame her! What a cutie.
Sigh… You are so darn talented! ๐
Beautiful card and I agree with that color combination – love it! Love your pearl snowballs too.
I cannot stop laughing about the naughty dog. I know you weren’t laughing, but it sure makes for a good story. She really does look innocent in that picture. TFS!
I am not a fan of those mittens, and I am not a fan of that snowman stamp. Wait, change that was WAS NOT. I love this card, Ann! The pearl snowballs are incredible! Poor puppy dog. Was she saving you from sharing a bad design? ๐
Oh she is so naughty! I can’t help but laugh at the picture. Not long ago I remember similar stories of the Twins. To be honest I think she is as naughty as both of them were together.
Your card is so cute. I love this stamp set and of course the mittens. Your watercoloring is awesome.
Great card. Love your post about the Naughty dog. I have very bad cats so glad that other furbabies are not perfect either. She did look so innocent in that picture. Maybe she is telling the truth???? Have to laugh and love them anyway.
