Quint-Essential Flower for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players.  This week, the oh-so-talented Anne Marie is treating us to a gorgeous color challenge:  Old Olive, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy.  The Quint-Essential Flower stamp seemed like the perfect choice for the bold, clean card I wished to create.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Clean and Bold
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Pretty in Pearls! The Quint-Essential image is tailor-made for adding pearls.  If you are feeling frugal, a single gem in the middle will do the trick.  But if you are feeling like going on a pearl-splurge, what could be better than adding Basic Pearls around the perimeter!
  • Contrast! The smooth texture of the Friend sentiment, from the Affection Collection set,  is offset by the fabulous texture provided by the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
  • Playing with Patterns!  The simplicity of Bravo Burgundy Stripes and Old Olive Dots plays perfectly against the complexity of the More Mustard Gingham.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I am thankful the Twins continue on their road to improvement.  As several of you know, both suffered from a severe bacterial infection, which started nearly two weeks ago, after Muffy’s return from the Sioux Falls show.  I won’t go into details, but Muffy was placed on an IV.  The poor baby did get to return home the same morning.  She lost weight so quickly that her backbone is showing.  My thoughts certainly were not on stamping or my blog.  After getting shots, taking meds, and eating boiled rice with special bland canned food, she and Brody are slowly being returned to their normal diet.  And in case you are wondering about little Lexi...she is fine.  She is too naughty to get sick!

What do you think of my attempt at being clean and bold?  I like these colors together.  How about you?  As always, your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

  3. Chevrons, patterns and pearls! Oh my! Sorry to hear about the twins, Ann. I hope they continue on the road to recovery and little Lexi helps nurse them back to health. (When she isn’t being naughty, that is.) Have a happy day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Ann – such a gorgeous card! The colors are fabulous and the layering is divine!

I’m so glad to hear that the Twins are doing better and I hope that is the end of the sickness! I’m so sorry that they got sick though. ๐Ÿ™ My apologies for not stopping by as frequently – I’ve been on the road for work and the new job has been keeping me busy. I can’t remember what day it is most of the time anymore. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving if I don’t pop by before then!

  7. Ann, I’m happy to hear that the pups are doing well and on the road to recovery! It’s VERY stressful when they are ill and it’s not like they can tell us what is wrong. Been through that several times. They ARE family after all!

Your card is lovely! The layered medallion is wonderful. Especially with the addition of the pearls!

  8. Ann, your clean and bold look is fantastic!! I love everything about this card.

  9. adorable card design and I love the colors

  10. Fabulous Fall color combo. When it comes to pearls, you are never feeling frugal! Love the embossed background with the rest of the elements of your ‘Clean and Bold’ card.

So happy the Twins are continuing on their road to recovery.

  13. So sorry to hear about the twins. I didn’t know they were sick. Glad they are improving. That is really scary.

Love your card. Great colors and easy to make especially for a stack class.

We finally got our power back after being without for 11 days but we don’t have internet, phone or cable. thanks goodness for my cell and the hotspot it has so I can connect using that with my laptop.

Hope the twins continue to improve daily.

  14. So sorry to read about your furry family. I am sure you were the best nurse ever for them. Today’s card is awesome, both in color and pattern combos. And of course it is completed with the pearls. Dar

  15. Beautiful, Ann! A lovely blend of texture and patterns. A beautiful “pearly” flower with a great color combo!

  16. Great colors. You never disappoint – really enjoy the clean and bold card you’ve created. SU won’t ever retire the pearls; you are managing to keep them around all by yourself!! I’m so sorry the twins had to go through this but I’m thankful they are recovering nicely. I’m sure they’ll be their normal selves soon.

  17. So glad the twins are recovering. I love the comment about Lexi being too naughty to get sick! Hugs to all of you.

Now that card just rocks from the pearls to other details. I love the chevron embossed pattern with the plaid and the polka dots. Just too fun. When I heard the color combination I just wasn’t sure abd thought “boring” but your card is anything but boring!

  18. So sorry about the Twins, Ann, and glad they are doing better! Such a helpless feeling when you cannot do much except love and take care of them.

I love the card! The pearl bedecked flower is a show stopper! The lay out reminds me of a Grand Champion Award ribbon! I love Colleen’s comment about your backyard pearl tree! I can just see it sparkling out there!

TFS and hoping the Twins are all better soon. Hugs

  19. Glad that Muffy and Brody are on the mend. Really like your comment about Lexi, I just can see her being “Bad”. Your card is very striking and definitely bold.

  20. Love the way you used the Quintessential Stamp here along with the Chevron EF! The colors are so perfect for this time of year! I’m glad the twins are on the mend!

  21. First of all, I’m glad your fur babies are getting better (my boys are getting better, too)! Love the bold colors that you used on this card!!

  23. I love your clean and bold look! And I had no idea your twins were ill – that is awful! So scary because they can’t answer questions on how they really feel! Glad they are recovering……….whew being a boxer mom is a full time job!

  24. this is a pretty CAS card for you ๐Ÿ™‚ i like it!

  25. Awww, I am so sorry the twins were so sick. Poor babies. ๐Ÿ™ I wondered why you had not posted much in the last week or two. I am glad to hear they are better. Big hugs to your babies.

This is a beautiful card! I love the layered banners and the abundance of pearls. I think Santa should bring you some pearls for Christmas. ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. This is beautiful, I love the bold colors, your layout and different patterns you used!

I am so sorry about the twins, I had no idea. I’m glad they are getting better! Something must be going around because I also had 3 sick dogs, my Sabrae had to stay at the vet on an IV all day, lost a bunch of weight and came home with several meds and on a bland diet for over a week. The other two were not quite as sick, thank goodness. They are all completely over it but talk about a scare! Give all your babies a big hug for me!

  27. Beautiful clean card Ann! That flower is gorgeous with pearls and your colors are so pretty together.

Big hugs for the twins now that they are recovering. I’m so happy they are feeling better. Poor Muffy with an iv. Very scary stuff!

  28. (((HUGS))) for you and the Twins. I would have been FRANTIC!

Love your clean and bold card. Great job!

  29. Beautiful card and color combination and layout.
Good to hear that the twins are beginning to feel better. No fun for anyone when someone is sick.

    Pearl bill…. I think Ann must own her very own pearl factory or maybe she has her very own ‘Pearl Tree’ growing in her back yard. :}

  30. Lovely card, a great way to use that image and colors! Love your combination of patterns in the DP too! Hope the twins are feeling better, oh dear!

  31. Love it – one of my favorite color combinations. I’d hate to see your pearl bill : ) Glad the twins are getting better – such a scare. Whenever the “snowbirds” return to us (which has already happened) they bring sickness and this year I think snowbird dogs brought it too because Ci caught something similar to what the twins had, just not as bad. Ugh!
