A Christmas Daisy for Freshly Made Sketches

It’s Wednesday and time to play at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week’s versatile sketch is courtesy of the lovely LeAnne. I thought it would be fun to take a non-Christmas stamp set, and create a Christmas card from it.  So out came Decorate a Daisy.  I hope you enjoy this Christmas Daisy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Creating Holiday Cards from Non-Holiday Stamps
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Dazzling Daisy!  Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter, paired with Basic Pearls and a Rhinestone, give this Cherry Cobbler Daisy a festive flair…perfect for wishing anyone a Merry Christmas!  Notice that I used traditional holiday colors to enhance the holiday feel.
  • Beautiful Bow! A double Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding bow adds warmth and elegance.
  • A Cursive Christmas! A simple, yet striking, Merry Christmas from More Merry Messages, adds a classic traditional look to this Christmas Daisy card.

It is always great to be able to use a stamp set in a non-traditional way.  It makes them more versatile and a better value. And while it may not be a poinsettia, I think this daisy makes a lovely Christmas flower.  Won’t you let me know what you think of today’s card?  Plus, I am always in search of versatile sets. What about you?  Do you have a favorite versatile set?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

    Hugs

  5. Hi Ann! I love that Christmas daisy with the sparkle and pearls! I especially love your beautiful bow!

  6. Fun – Now you need to get a patent on your Christmas Daisy and make $$$$ Maybe this is how the Christmas Cactus was thought up or some hybird fancy smancy flower! Just kidding. It is fun though and I love the unexpected pop it makes. That bow is so pretty and love tghe paper you used. I don’t know about versatile but I am loving my Button Buddies set. I have made belated birthday greetings with the snail, the pig for congratulations and I have a “Hogs & kisses” stamp to go with it to make it a valentine one. I just used the pumpkins last night on a fall thing. Maybe one of the snowmen from the Snow Much Fun set could be building the button snowman! Anyway, I like your fun card!

  7. Love the layers! Fabulous card.

  8. I always love your seam binding bows. Thanks for showing how a great Christmas card can be had from a non-Christmas image.

  9. Love how you made a Christmas card out of a non-Christmas set! Very clever girl!

  10. There’s nothing quite like taking a particular stamp and turning it into something entirely unexpected! I never would have thought that a daisy would make such a terrific Christmas card, but you’ve made it so! The lovely embossed layer and gorgeous rippled ribbon only make me love this beautiful Christmas card even more!

  11. Ann
I love your cards and someday I hope to be at your level of card makeing. The Cherry Cobbler on the crisp white is a great contrast and makes the flower POP Did you do something special on the edges of the flower?

  12. Beautiful, Ann! Love the bling on the daisy and that wonderful bow!

I just ordered this set. And you have given me some nice inspiration.

  13. Gorgeous, Ann! I love that bow – it packs such a “wow” factor. Your Merry Christmas banner is a great compliment to the rest of your card, too. A lovely Christmas card to send to a special someone.

  14. Wow, I LOVE that you used that daisy (which I don’t use enough!) to make a Christmas card! Fabulous—as is that bow!

  15. I always like your cards because of the detail you give to them. And the bow on this one is just lovely!

  16. Lovely card Ann. Such pretty colors and textures.

  17. Very Pretty card! Love how you master those bows! Just beautiful!

  18. What a great idea! So original, and I love the finished card. Thanks for jogging my memory. And, yes, I turn to Branch Out (retired) for inspiration a lot. The tree and acessory stamps are useful all year around.

  19. Beautiful card Ann. I like the idea of using a non-traditional Christmas stamp and using it to create a Christmas card. The bling adds to the festive feeling.

  20. Gorgeous card! I love the sparkle and the bow. I think Creative Elements is a very versatile set. It is not necessarily my favorite because fall or Christmas sets seem to be my favorites, but it is one of the most versatile. TFS!

  21. I love a versatile stamp and this is brilliant, Ann!! The bow, the sentiment, the sparkle…all add to the holiday feel. Wonderful!

  22. So pretty, Ann. That bow is outstanding!

  23. this is so beautiful, love it

  24. Lovely Ann. Instant Christmas when you use Reds and Greens! Love it and especially that bow. Did you just use glue dots to hold the folds in place? Elements of Style is a fav. plus French Foliage and Lovely as a Tree. Vx

  25. This is so pretty Ann! I would have never thought to use the Daisy on a Christmas card but you have done an amazing job with it! Love the beautiful bow and the colors you used! I have to agree, French Foliage is one of the most versatile sets there is!

  26. Beautiful, Ann. I would have to say one of my most versatile stamp sets would be Lovely as a Tree…an oldie but a goodie!

  27. What a great idea – I love it. I think my all time favorite stamp set is the little pickup truck – I have used that for every occasion imaginable : ) I recently bought the set with the car, so I can expand my vehicular horizons.

  28. I love your Christmas daisy! It is gorgeous. The bow is stunning, too. I wonder how it would look if you turned it to make it a vertical element instead of a horizontal one, and moved it up to cuddle beside the sentiment. I’ll have to give it a try!

As for versatile sets, we both have the same one…my all time favorite: French Foliage.

  29. So creative. Beautiful card and love the bow and adding a bit of glitter to the flower; very festive looking.
Nice to see something different in Christmas card for a change besides the same ole thing.

  30. I really like this card. Your Christmas daisy turned out perfect. The bow is fabulous. Very creative of you to use a non Christmas flower. You always amaze me.
