The Paper Players Christmas Lodge and Muffy Talk, Too!

It’s Sunday and time to play at The Paper Players! This week we are featuring a fun sketch that made me go running for the Christmas Lodge set.  I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Distressed and Sparkly
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2′ long.

  • Sparkle a-plenty! The Lodge image was inked in Soft Suede and stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock.  The sparkly snow is courtesy of Dazzling Details.  And for a touch more shimmer and shine, the embossed Labels Framelits behind the image mat was “kissed” with Stampin’ Up!’s new Illuminate stamp pad.

  • Pearls a-plenty! For a different look, Cherry Cobbler inserts were added to the hand-snipped banners.  And what could be better to top these little diamond shapes than…you guessed it…Pearls!

  • Ribbon a-plenty! Cherry Cobbler Tulle Ribbon was coiled tightly and adhered to a Sticky Round to create a quick and easy ribbon rosette!  Of course, I had to add a little Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, and (gasp)…a Pearl!

I was in one of those distressing moods today, so I used Crumb Cake ink on all of my edges. I thought it added a bit of a rustic appeal to the Lodge!

Muffy’s Show Picture

Muffy insisted on sharing her latest show picture.  And if that wasn’t bad enough, she insisted on talking today.  Heeeere’s Muffy!

Muffy:  Hi, Mom’s Stampin’ Friends! Can you believe that is me in this picture?  I look so big and grown-up!  Although I didn’t get the big winner prize, I did something special.  I…I…What was it, Mom?
Me:  You were reserve to a 5-point major.  That’s a pretty big honor, Muffy.  There were 65 Boxers showing that day.
Muffy:  Well, I knew it had to be something special because Mom was really happy, and so was my new handler, Rhonda.  Doesn’t she look pretty in her blue jacket?  And some of the other dogs were afraid of the judge ‘cuz he had on a cap and sunglasses.  But I wasn’t.  My mom wears sunglasses sometimes when we go for walks.  Can we go for a walk, Mom?
Me:  Muffy…it’s 9:45 at night.  We can’t go for a walk now.
Muffy:  You wouldn’t have to wear your sunglasses.  If you loved me, you would take me for a walk.
Me:  Muffy, we aren’t going to play those games.  I do love you, but we are not going for a walk this late at night.
Muffy:  We’ve done it before.
Me:  Yes…but Mom has watched too many Criminal Minds reruns these past few days.
Muffy:  Then can I do something special because I did a good job at the show?  Can I give away “Dog Candy”?
Me:  Muffy, it’s actually “Blog Candy”, and I just gave away Blog Candy last week.
Muffy:  No, I mean DOG Candy.  Can I, huh?  I know exactly how to write it up:  “Leave a comment on Mom’s blog between now and Tuesday for a chance to win a big, old stinky boy dog named Brody.”
Me:  MUFFY LIN…that is enough.  Get your paws off the keyboard right this minute. I thought maybe you had matured into a sweet, young lady.  Remember, pretty is as pretty does, and right now you are not very pretty.
Muffy:  Aw, Mom! I was just joking.  You know I would never want Brody to leave.  I actually meant Lexi. Barkhahahahaha!
Me:  Muffy…to the Time Out Chair!

Now you know why the Twins seldom get to use the ‘puter anymore!

So, what do you think of today’s card?  Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…

Y’know… dog candy doesn’t sound like “terrible” idea. Brody or Lexi are just adorable, but far too precious to give away. LOL At least Muffy has a comfy time-out spot.

  12. Your card is gorgeous (as usual); congrats to Muffy, and SHE is hilarious!

  13. What a beautiful card, with two of my very favorite stamp sets and lots of pearls. Your rosette is lovely and I am excited to try it with the tulle.

Muffy’s post is hilarious; she looks like such a pouty girl in the time out chair! What a hoot! But her show picture illustrates what a real beauty she is. Thanks for sharing!

  23. Beautiful card Ann! Love all your shabby chic cards with the rustic edge to them. SO cozy. The rolled flower is especially pretty and the pearl center is devine.

Muffy, way to go!! Your pictures are wonderful. You are very pretty young lady. The pic in the chair though is just priceless. You are very expressive!

  24. Your card is gorgeous Ann. So many beautiful details. So good to hear from Muffy. She has every right to be proud; she looks fabulous in the photo. Always enjoy hearing from the twins.

  25. Ann, found your blog thru Tiffany Bauer. Gorgeous card!! Will be checking back often. TFS.

  26. The card is gorgeous and besides that you used probably my two all time favorite stamp sets the Lodge and the trees. Also loved the way you did the little diamonds with the pearl accent. And your babies – my how they have grown and they are getting so sassy back to Mama! They are beauties for sure.

  27. This card is STUNNING! WOW! So many details, and they all work so well together. Muffy looked like a top dog!

  28. Another amazing card, Ann; you always come up with a new touch like the way you tipped the banners with the triangles. Very pretty! Lovely as a tree has always been one of my favorite sets. Muffy Lin! What a character! We know she really loves her brother and sister though! Glad she could give us a good laugh! Congrats on her successful showing. Have a good day and TFS all the wonderful details again, Ann! Hugs

  29. Beautiful card, Ann! I love the vintage look and all the special touches . . . pretty flower and pearl bling. Really enjoyed hearing from Muffy, too! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  30. Ann I just love this. So beautifully designed and all the elements work so well together. Muffy is adorable and congrats on your duper achievement. Hugs Desíre {Doing Life – my personal blog}

  31. Congratulations, Muffy! What an exciting achievement. I have missed you and Brody posting. I hope your Mom lets you have more ‘puter time.

Ann, what a stunning card. The stamped and layered background looks really neat and the image is perfect on it.

  32. I really like your card alot. YOu always put so many extra touches on your card. I also love that I could find imperfections in this one. It makes me feel better about my own work. I tend to strive for perfection and struggle to accept it when things aren’t as lined up as I would like. Thanks for being imperfect like the rest of us, and so good at what you do and for sharing.

  33. Love the beautiful rustic scene you created with this lovely Christmas card! Very pretty rolled flower, too! Sweet comical chat with your dog! You must be so proud of your amazing dog! Take care and have a wonderful week, hugs!

  34. Beautiful card and so back at home for Christmas

  35. Love your detailed card, Ann. You can take a ‘plain Jane sketch’ and make it stunning. Your flower is gorgeous. I just got the illuminate pad and I am inspired to try it out.

Muffy Lin, I am so glad you got some “puter time”. I have missed yours and Brody’s posts. Your look fabulous darling and so does Rhonda!

    Have a beautiful week, Ladies!!

  36. Put me in for the dog candy too – I’d love to have a big ol’ stinky boy dog especially as handsome as Brody is. Speaking of that, where was Brody while Muffy was using the computer? Muffy, you do look so gorgeous in that photo with your new handler complete with her blue jacket! That is pretty good observation for you to notice the judge having the ball cap on and sunglasses. Judges don’t usually have them on do they? Your time out chair looks much better than standing in a corner with a dunce hat on like maybe Marmaduke’s owner might show in the comics!

The card, well, that is pretty cool in itself with all the rich colors and rich details! Love it! Can you tell us more about that illuminate pad or whatever it was and how to use it? Love all the pearl touches and glittery snow. Great job as always!

  37. LOL, Muffy Lin is something else! Gorgeous card, Ann. You really know how to rock that stamp set and I love all the rustic touches you add. Too funny that we both made tulle flowers this week! It was a vulcan-mind-meld kind of day!

  38. This is absolutely gorgeous as always! I love all the glittery “snow” you added into the scene. Thanks for sharing another fabulous creation!

  39. Put me in on the dog candy – I’ll take that stinky ol’ boy 🙂 And I am so impressed that you are waaaay ahead with your Christmas cards! you have made some beautiful ones lately and this one is no exception! great flower – and I love how you did the ends of the banners!

  40. I want to win Brody! Pick me!

  41. Love your card. Christmas Lodge is a favorite of mine and you definitely hit it over the top. Please give Muffy more computer time!

  42. You always do such gorgeous things with this lodge stamp and today is no exception; love it! I’m so lousy at shabby chic but you make it look possible! Also, I’m not much of a show dog kinda gal but your puppies seem so down to earth! haha! And I love boxers, too, so I just can’t resist them.

  43. LOVE that you stamped the trees as a background! And Muffy is just so darn cute! Good job!

  44. Gorgeous card Ann. And I’m still smiling at Muffy’s chat hahaha, she is so cute! Have a blessed week.

  45. Beautiful card, Ann! I love the pearls! Love your Muffy!! Adorable!
