It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week Lesley has selected a gorgeous trio of colors for her color challenge: Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Basic Black. I had lots of ideas frolicking in my head, and finally decided to ink up the High Heel from Fabulous You. It reminds me of my early days of teaching where I wore suits…and yep…high heels, to school every day. How times have changed over the years! When I retired I was wearing khakis and Clarks, but my feet have never forgiven me for those high heel days. This card goes out to all of my “Fabulous Friends”!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This card measures 5-1/4″ square.
- Illuminate! The Baha Breeze Boho Blossoms (don’t you love alliteration) were daubed with Stampin’ Up!’s new Illuminate ink and then distressed on the edges with Basic Gray ink. The Basic Pearl centers were colored using a black permanent marker.
- Stylish stiletto! A Baja Breeze Stampin’ Write Marker was used to decorate the High Heel image. Basic Pearls were added for further adornment. And just for fun, a few of the heart shapes were inked in Pretty in Pink!
- Mini-bow! A cutie-patootie Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta mini-bow was added to the corner. It reminds me of a fabulous pair of black heels I once owned. Black bows adorned the back of each shoe. They were adorable…and uncomfortable!
Creating this card was a trip down memory lane! I think I envisioned every pair of shoes I once owned. They were a passion for me back then. But oh, how things have changed! Now I am a push-over for an awesome set of stamps!
Missing Our Baby Girl
In case you did not read my last post, little Lexi has been “pup-napped” by her handler! Well, maybe not pup-napped, but she will be away from Mom for a month as she begins her intensive show dog training. I knew this day would come, and I thought I would be prepared for it. Of course, the Twins spent the first days this week looking for their little sister. However, they have adjusted fine…and according to the handler, so has Lexi. Only Mom is having problems. Here she is learning how to just chill at a show. I wonder what she is thinking…
As always, your comments are important to me, and I can’t wait to read what you think about today’s card. And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

beautiful card, love your little blooms and of course this was one of my favorite color combinations.
A month is a long time to be away from someone you love!
The shoe stamp is really beautiful, and this is about as close as I will ever get to a high heel again. Used to wear heels too, but now it’s flats, baby! (bad feet)
Great card Ann. My feet remember only too well those high heels I wore to work. I’m loving the more casual style of today. So glad Lexi is adapting; sounds like it’s been a little bit harder for mom.
Well I don’t normally wear heels but if I had a pair like these then I definitely would!! Love the detailed colouring (particularly tiny pink hearts!!) and those pearl-centred flowers are the perfect finishing touch!
Oooh-la-la look at that sassy shoe! I also used to wear heels a lot and maybe I will again someday. I don’t know if comfort is worth the sacrifice though. Lol! Great card with the flower accents but I have to tell you that photo of Lexi is so stinking cute, I can’t stand it. That face! Awww, I can see why you miss her so! 🙂
Beautiful card – as always. Just a quick question – do the Stampinup embossing folders /dies work on Cuttlebug machines?
Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations.
Ann, I, too, remember those days of high heels and suits. In fact, I wasn’t allowed to make a customer presentation without wearing my suit jacket and wearing pantyhose! I remember getting ready to present, putting a hole in my stocking and having to go rush to the pharmacy to buy a new pair before presenting!
This layout – and sentiment – is a perfect use of the shoe. It is so whimsical and your flowers and bow add to that feeling. Fabulous!
Hugs
Jaydee
It’s obvious Lexi misses her mommy! Look at that cute face!
Love the glam shoe card! Gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing your cards and what’s going on the the boxers!
Folks,
As one of Ann’s former students in theose early days, I do remember her dressing like that – she was a pretty sharp dresser! And yes, things have changed so much.
Ooo, I love that beautifully stylized shoe with the lovely touches of Baja Breeze and pink.
What a sweet baby Lexi is…no surprise you miss her.
Ann, this is so cute with the shoe and love all of the added details!! The picture of Lexi is so darn cute also. I’m sure she is missing Mom as well.
Fun card Ann! It’s beautiful! I don’t do heels anymore either, well, maybe once in a blue moon. I prefer my comfy “mom” shoes.
Ah, little Lexi and those big eyes, big ears, and big feet! She’s adorable and I bet this pic made your heart happy and sad. Sad because you miss her and happy to see that cute face again! Hoping you reunite very soon.
simply stunnning…this stamp is a gentle reminder of my love pumps, as that’ what we called them, getting ready to dance the night away…….now, fit flops, berkinstocks, fur lined slippers!!

So elegant, and I love the color combo. I completely agree with Colorado Crafter’s comment. I couldn’t have said it better.
Let’s see….you are expecting me to say something like, “This card is a real shoe-in of a winner!” Or, this card is really, “Stepping Out in Style!” Need I go on?
Little Lexi is growing up fast! Wow! Just think about your upcoming trip though, that should take your mind off a little bit.

My favorite heels–the kind you don’t have to wear! So very pretty, Ann!
Yep, things have certainly changed in the way teachers (and most other workers) dress and it certainly hasn’t been for the better. I had to stop teaching long before I had planned due to a disability, but just in the years I was working, it shocked me how quickly it changed. I enjoy casual clothing as much as the next person, but it is so sad that our society has degraded to the point where many people don’t even dress up for church… let along work. I know the days of my childhood will never return, but I long for a time when people had enough pride in themselves that they wouldn’t even leave the house unless they felt they were dressed properly to be in public. OK — enough sounding off! LOL!
Your card is lovely, as always!! I need to use Baja Breeze more often.
Such a pretty color combo Ann and I just love how you have used the colors. The shoe image is perfect for a fashionista-I still have a few friends who wear heels that high-I can’t figure out how I ever walked in them (lol)!!!
What an elegant card, Ann! Love the colors, the cute bedazzled flowers and that you used the illuminate ink, it is on my order for this week.
Your comments brought to mind two memories: 1) Going shopping with Mom meant looking at shoes, (she had several pair of heels), purses and earrings. 2) When my husband decided to degree in elementary education I asked him how he would be able to handle the dress code (he is a casual/sports attire guy!). He replied that by the time he graduated the dress code would have changed and he was right. In his defense, he usually wore a suit and tie once a week.
Lexi will be home before you know it!! Hugs!
Oh my, I never thought I would see you make a card with a high-heeled shoe! AM for sure, but you are surprising me here! It’s GORGEOUS! What a beauty….love it all! I never could wear them, I look longingly at all the girls who wear them….my feet doth protest!
Hope you are weathering your pup-separation…it will be over soon, right?!
Love your card! Shoes are and have always been one of my weaknesses.
I’m certain Lexi is thinking that she’s OK and wishes you an awesome trip.
Beautiful card. I really can relate to your shoes/clothes for teaching back in the day–been there, done that. Although I can no longer wear high heels, I still love shoes. At least my sandal collections takes up less room. I remember shedding a few tears when I had to get rid of the high heels due to back surgery etc.
Today is such a glorious day after all the rain and storms we have had past week. Enjoy the new week. Dar
Ann this is just gorgeous! I love your little flowers with the illuminate and those black pearl centers are just FAB-U-Lous! Wow. The tiny dots and bow are just the finishing touch to your spectacular shoe. HUGs
PS: I can’t thank you enough for picking me at the paper players.
hugs
Your card is so elegant and stylish Ann. Love the blue and the touch of pink, so girly. I can relate to the high heels and they are gone for me as well.
Lexi looks sad in her picture and I am sure that she is missing her Mama too.
Oh I love the shoe! No more high heels for me either these days! This is so pretty! And your sweet Lexi will be a showgirl- without heels – when she comes home! I would miss her too!
Oh, how I wish I could see you in those fabulous bow heels! Bet you rocked ’em! Just like you rocked this fabulous stamp and all your details. Love it–especially the little boho flowers, they add so much!
You are most amazing, Ann. Thanks for sharing your creativity and sweet furry family members with all of us! Well, OK, we like hearing about your son’s musical pursuits too!
Your smile comes through in your writing, as does that pang in your heart when your loved ones are away.
Virtual hugs for your empty spot, and may the days pass quickly ’til you get to snuggle with Lexi again.
This is so adorable and lexi will be home soon
Hi Ann….I love this stampset! Your card is just wonderful!
Awwww I feel for you having the Mommy Blues. It must be so hard to have Lexi gone. Give the Twins three hugs..one from each of my Girls and one from me!
Beautiful as usual, Ann! Love your flowers with the black pearl centers.
Wow! You definitely brought that heel to life with the marker. Funny how shoes can take on a life of their own. What in the world were we thinking when we taught in heels??? I’m sure you are missing that sweet Lexi and her darling face. Hope the twins are helping to fill the void. That’s a good excuse to do more stamping to help the days fly faster!
Ann, you always have the most perfect details added to your cards. Totally inspires me to dig a little deeper when I create! How did I miss that illuminate ink in the catty? ack! Must add it to my list!
Lexi is a real cutie!!! I can sympathize with you on missing her. She’s family.
What a fabulous card Ann! Love the color combo and all the glam! I’ll have to check out that Illuminate Ink as well! I too remember those days of wearing dresses and heels to work, and always having sore feet! LOL I’m sure glad things have changed!
Little Lexi does look like she is missing home but I’m sure she is having a good time too!
Beautiful card once again Ann.
Just thinking to myself; I used to wear high heels…………..years ago that is. Sure can’t wear them anymore.
From the looks of Lexi’s face, she misses everyone as well. Such a sad look she has.
With the days flying by, the month will be over before you know it.

Love your project, Ann. What a glamorous shoe and pretty color combo! And try not to miss Lexi too much, she’s just away at “camp”!
Wow! I don’t do girly, but that is exceptionally pretty! Doesn’t look anything like my Crocs : ) And I can see what Lexi is thinking – she’s missing Mom and Dad and her sibs too – she looks so sad! but so beautiful! Illuminate ink? I must have missed that – gotta go look at my catalog!
