Toxic Treats for Freshly Made Sketches

It’s time for another challenge from Freshly Made Sketches! This week’s fabulous sketch is courtesy of the talented Jennifer Timko.  I thought it was a perfect sketch for highlighting one of my favorite Designer Series Papers from the Holiday Catalog, Howlstooth and Scaringbone.  If you like plaid as much as I do, you will find today’s card to be a treat!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Focus on Designer Series Paper

The finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Mad about plaid! Plaid, stripes and polka dots come together in a delightful mix of patterns! The key to making them work together is the coordination of colors.
  • Terrific texture!  The Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and More Mustard card stock form the perfect backdrop for the Witch image from the Toxic Treats stamp set.

Sometimes less is more, and such is the case with this sweet, little card.  Whipped up in minutes, its charm lies with the paper, and the slightly retro feel.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  I felt that with such strong patterns of Designer Series Paper, that embellishments were not necessary.  What do you think?  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! Of course, I love to hear from you.  So…if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  I leave you with a picture of Lexi sleeping on the ottoman.  Doesn’t she remind you of Muffy?  Until next time…

  10. Now I’m even more of a fan of that paper then I was 5 minutes ago! Wowza! Love that plaid…it reminds me of the Burberry plaid which is so preppy and fun. I really like the emphasis on the fab DSP here, Ann, along with the hint of sparkle on the spooky witch. Wickedly awesome! It’s so funny how much Lexi looks like Muffy, too. Hope the twins had a grand birthday! 🙂

  14. Man, all the good punny comments are used. O.k. how about Bootiful card! Love the plaids and the dots together. I agree, it reminded me of Burberry too! I think I would like it just for all round use with such great colors. This card would be so bewitching next to a calderon of goodies for trick or treat or better yet a Halloween party! Love the names of the DSP too!

Love the pics of the girls! How did the last showing go for Muffy? Just remind her she would have received silver at the Olmypics – just not second place!

  27. Love your card, Ann. I really like the background paper with the bold black plaid on it and how you used it. The little bit of dots you used offsets it very nicely. Hugs to Lexi, Muffy and Brody.

  28. Ann love your wicked witch card, and I LOVE the howlstooth DSP! I really like that it’s not “Halloween” specific, but great for the entire FALL season. (love fall).
The three paper banners are perfect together in small quantities and I’ll be CASING this idea too. 😎 I probably wouldn’t have thought to combine 4 of these papers so thanks for always inspiring me.
I also didn’t get this set, but will be ordering it in MDS. hugs.

  29. Great card. I am loving this dsp. Great layout for a card too!

  30. Bewitching! I love the background paper, and your stamped focal is beautiful. The little fishtail banners add so much. Loverly!

  31. Hi Ann! Wicked card!! lol. I love your mix of dsp and this stamped image. Great colors and the layering of banners/flags. What are we supposed to call those? Your sweet little pic of Lexi does look like her big sis. Those paws and shiny coat look identical.

  32. I love this! I agree, the paper has such wonderful patterns that embellishments aren’t needed! What a great card! I don’t always buy the Halloween paper every year but I love this year’s paper and am planning on getting it!

Awww, Lexi and Muffy look so much alike, they could be twins! I guess you can now say you have triplets! LOL

  33. Love it! I really love the Halloween paper this year, but I don’t do Halloween. Was actually thinking of getting it to use for other things. The card looks great just as is.
