It’s Sunday and time to play at The Paper Players. This week we have a color challenge featuring a Terrific Trio consisting of Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy. Since I needed a masculine card, I reached for one of my favorite masculine sets, The Open Sea. I also opted to try the Triple Time Stamping Technique that is quite popular now. I hope you enjoy today’s card!
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- A triple treat! The trick to Triple Time Stamping is stamping three layers at one time. Here are the dimensions of the three layers: 2″ x 3-1/4″ (mat = 2-1/4″ x 3-1/2″), 3″ x 4-1/4″ (mat = 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″), 4″ x 5-1/4″ (mat = 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″ to form the card base). I used Naturals Ivory card stock for the images and matted with Crumb Cake card stock. I lightly adhered the Naturals Ivory pieces into position, and then randomly stamped the Ship image in Not Quite Navy and the Compass in Cherry Cobbler. To add a little texture, I zipped the stack through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next, I just matted the stamped images onto Crumb Cake card stock and rebuilt the stack.
- Slip ‘n slide! To add a punch of color, Not Quite Navy Taffeta Ribbon was slipped through a Ribbon Slide and layered over Crumb Cake Seam Binding.
- Everything goes better with Pearls! A single Basic Pearl accents the tiny sentiment tags!
At first I wasn’t quite certain if this technique would work well for a masculine card, but I think it does. What do you think? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? At any rate, I know the recipient of this card will love it. It is headed to Brady, who left for grad school at the University of Missouri yesterday. If you have wondered where I have been this past week and why I was missing in action, Brady and I were getting in some quality “Mother-Son” time. I feel so badly because I was unable to accompany him and his dad as they set up his new apartment. However, someone had to stay home with the Twins and Lexi, and since I couldn’t drive the small moving van we rented and because I cannot help carry furniture, I had to stay home. Of course, the dogs knew something was up when they saw things being loaded. But as sad as his leaving is, it is the start of a new adventure for Brady and a time of adjustment for all! I have seen a lot of cards using this technique but this is my favourite by far! The texture you’ve added really makes the whole card pop and the combination of images and colours work together fabulously (I reached for this set too!). Thanks for the great colour challenge!
I learned this technique not too long ago at a SU workshop and am so inspired by your card today. It is a fun and easy technique, but the result is impressive, as your handsome card demonstrates.
Best of luck to Brady in his new position! What a thrill it must be, yet I would imagine some sadness at seeing him gone from home. It has got to help seeing him achieve this kind of success at his age.

Congratulations to your son. This is a huge change for you, your husband and for your son, Brady. I think it is always toughest on the Mom when our children leave home to begin thier new adventures. It hit me very hard when my daughter left home and then my sone did 2 years later. I had empty nest syndrome for sure. But it got easier as each day passed. I got to enjoy thier accomplishments as young adults. You will too. Brady has a very bright future ahead of him, I’m sure.

Ann I think this is perfect for Brady. Ann I can certainly relate to the “off in the van” to University. That nest…omg! I am really feeling it with Jordan getting married Friday! The card is perfect and I know he will love it. I like the bitsy punched love you. I think I punched a bazillion when I got my punch because I was so in love with the micro. Now, how did you do the boats to match on all 3 layers, I looked and read and still don’t get it? Did you only put the frames on top or carefully stamp 3 times? The ribbon is a great topper. xox

Wow, wow, wow! Love these stamps with this technique. It looks terrific and a perfect guy card. So sorry you missed out on Brady’s move but as I’ve learned, this is a tough part of letting go. This technique works great for a guy card! This turned out great! I just finished cutting paper to make 24 triple layered cards for tomorrow’s get together and I am over triple layering I can tell you that!

What a great idea to put this together in layers! This works very well as a masculine card. I understand the emptiness you are feeling with your son going away. I’ve been through that with both of my boys and I can say that it gets better. Now both are in their thirties and we have grandsons. Life moves on.
