Happy Fourth of July! It’s time to play with the designers at Freshly Made Sketches! This week’s sketch was created by the talented Jennifer Timko. I opted to create a “gender neutral” versatile card. Simply remove the butterflies and substitute straight edges for the embossed scallops, and this card transforms into a masculine card. The men in my life don’t mind butterflies, so I would not need to remove them. In fact, this card was made for my husband. Of course, it is always easy to switch out the sentiment for birthday, sympathy, thinking of you sentiments and more! And there is an added bonus. It is QUICK! Enjoy today’s card!
Today’s card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long.
- Quick texture! Crumb Cake card stock was zipped through the Big Shot with Stampin’ Up!’s new Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder! Visual and tactile interest is added in seconds!
- Quick accents! Butterflies are created with a twist of the wrist, when you use the Beautiful Wings Embosslit! Basic Pearls add a sweet touch!
- Quick “WOW”! Cherry Cobbler card stock is transformed into an elegant and rich confection when embossed with a scalloped Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Folder and the new coordinating Large Scallop Edgelit! A Cherry Cobbler heat embossed sentiment, accented with Basic Pearls, completes the “WOW”!
And for even more versatility, substitute your own favorite color combination or use Stampin’ Up!’s Color Coach! Not a fan of argyle? Use any one of Stampin’ Up!’s fabulous Textured Impressions Embossing Folders!
What do you think of today’s card? Won’t you let me know in your comment? I would love to know what you might use for colors. Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…
(Brody Update: So many of you have emailed me to ask about Brody. He is enjoying just being a dog. He loves playing with Lexi, and is very gentle with her…even when she sits on his head! And speaking of his head, he does have another small bump between his ears. It is being observed. It could be nothing…one never knows. However, I spend each day filling his hours with love and everything his doggie heart desires…walks, toys, food and cuddling. I do not take my time with him for granted…)

Love this card. Thanks so much for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous!! Love it! It’s perfect!
As usual, love this card!! and thanks for the Brody update! I was just thinking of him….I am sure he is being spoiled and very well loved!
I’m a little late checking out this post. Sure glad I didn’t miss it. It’s lovely!!!
Oh, my! This is so elegant, yet you kept it so clean, even with all of those gorgeous details. Beautifully done!
I absolutely love, love this card! I had to pin it. 🙂
This is so beautiful and I love the sketch. Poor Brody, hope it’s another benign bumpy.
Lovely card. I really like how the Argyle folder looks here.

Beautiful card.
Sorry about another lump on Brody. Prayerfully it’s just another benign little bugger that’s come to haunt you. You are wise not to take you time with him for granted, but don’t live in dread. He could be with you for many years to come.
This is such a winner! LOVE IT!!

I truly love this card, too!
And oh, goodness, I am sorry Brody has another bump. 🙁 You are being a wonderful mom to him, giving him all that loving. Our pets certainly deserve that.
I love these colors – this is beautiful!! Love seeing all of the new embossing stuff in action!
Beautiful card–especially love all the texture. Until you started using the argyle folder, I saw it ONLY as “manly”–you’ve used it so well otherwise. And I LOVE what you’ve done with the edgelit/embossing folders on that cherry cobbler snippet!
This card took my breath away Ann! I wouldn’t change a thing. Cherry cobbler is one of my faves. Rich Razzleberry
would be a good replacement for the cc. My heart sinks when you mention another lump. I’m so glad you are cherishing the moments!
Hi Ann! Your card is so elegant, masculine or not! It does not look like a quick card so I think it is really great that it is! Just fabulous!
Ann, this is just gorgeous! I love all the texture and the beautiful color combo! That Delicate Design EF is so pretty and is going on my next order!
I know Brody is just loving being spoiled rotten and having little Lexi around to play with, especially when Muffy is not there. Fingers crossed that this new lump is nothing and he can get on with just being a happy dog!
Gender neutral is a wonderful way to go! These colors appeal to just about everyone and changing up scallops for straight lines is great advice! A beauty to be sure!
Ann, this is a WOW card! I love the texture created with the Argyle EF. It looks like it adds highlights and shadows to the background. I was planning to get that folder anyway, but now I’m really excited about it. And the Cherry Cobbler strip that you enhanced with the Delicate Designs folder really is wonderful. It gives the effect of lacy ribbon. i just *love* that!!! As usual, the colors and textures . . . everything ties together beautifully. Love the pearl bling on the butterflies and the oval tag. I just can’t say enough about this WOW card! Thanks so much for sharing!
Sending warm and positive thoughts to Brody and wishing for the best! Happy that Lexi, Muffy, and Brody can comfort and bring joy to each other and you and yours!
I am so glad you are able to heap love on Brody AND make gorgeous cards!!
I love this card from all the rich colors to the embossing right down to the little pearls! I think you put a lot of love in this card too! I don’t think I can say enough about this card! It is right up there with one of my super favorites you have made. Mike would like the butterflies only he would said they were not colorful enough. Brody would be the best dog to love with that handsome face and all. I will be hoping and praying this lump will be benign. Hope the fireworks won’t bother the kids tonight. Due to the heat our parade and daytime festivities were cancelled. Let us know what Kim says when he sees the card!

Love it! I really like how you ran the cherry cobbler between your two layers, a perfect touch. Glad to hear Brody is doing good and enjoying his doggy life. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! So beautiful Ann! I cannot afford a color coach now, so I’m paying a lot of attentin to your colors! Thanks for sharing it, and I’d love for you to give more color combination suggestions!

Oh my – I’m so glad I decided to order this set! Will be here pretty soon. This is a stunning card. I think I may just CASE it! Thanks for blessing my day.
Woof, woof, woof – three of them since there are three of you over there! Lexi please be careful with my boyfriend – sitting his head! Only I am allowed to do that. We’re almost the same size Lexi – wanna go out and play? Oops – Mom says NO! The plane fare is too spensive! Sigh!!
Happy Independence Day you all!
I got this set also, and I have enjoyed it too.
Definitely one of my favorite sets. Very lovely card!
such a nice husband card; they do deserve 1, for a no special occassion; the combo of colors are enjoyable; tfs!!
Beautiful Ann! Love all the texture and new goodies on this one. This stamp set is on my wishlist as well as the Big Shot dies and folders. So happy to hear that Brody is settling into regular doggie mode. What is Lexi thinking sitting on his sweet head? Funny girl. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!!
Oh WOW! Just gorgeous my friend! All those little details are just perfect!
Gorgeous card! Love the colors, embossed sentiment, and neat, scalloped border. Kim will be thrilled when he receives it, butterflies and all!
Brody is such a wonderful big brother. I hope his new bump is nothing. Please give him a hug & kiss.
Ann what a beautiful card. Love the BG embossing and that set is one of my favorites … it was the first I ordered from the new catty. The colors in neutrals is so versitile! Love them. Also…
The edgelit emboss strip is just a perfect substitute ribbon, so now I have to get those too! Of course the touch of pearls is fab.
Happy 4th of July! Hugs.
OMG; that is Gorgeous.

Thoughts and prayers are with you as always

Ann this is such a gorgeous card – those colours combined are so very elegant and I love the stamp you’ve used – can’t wait to get it in Oz!

I love your gender neutral card Ann. The colors make it eye popping. Beautiful. And this stamp set was at the top of my list – love it. So happy Brody is doing well. Every time you mention a new bump my heart sinks. Sounds like Lexi has made her way into his heart too. Enjoy the 4th.
This card is a Wow card. I will have to copy it.
Sorry to hear Brody has another lump. At least he has the best parents a dog could ever ask for.
