It’s Sunday and time to play at The Paper Players! This week, the oh-so-talented LeAnne is hosting a Clean and Simple “Wordsmith” Challenge…use a sentiment, poem, or verse as your main element! What fun! I selected a quote by James Taylor from the “From My Heart” set. I will admit that I was a big fan of James back in the day…and I still am! And yes, there is an “oops” here. I made my card a little dirty. Yep, I pulled out the Color Spritzer, Sponge Dauber, and Water Spot stamp. I just totally missed the “clean” part. Shhh! It can be our “dirty” little secret…
Today’s card measures 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.
- Vintage texture! The Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is a vintage, romantic delight! And what can be easier than zipping it through the Big Shot along with Very Vanilla card stock!
- Bejeweled! Basic Pearls add class and elegance to the Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Adorning Accents Edgelit!
- Sentimental journey! Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple Stampin’ Write Markers were used to ink up the sentiment. The “enjoying” section of the image was inked again in Soft Suede. After snipping it out, it was popped up on dimensionals and positioned onto the base. An Apothecary Accent Framelit was used to cut it out. The paper piercing was easy, courtesy of the template in the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card! Won’t you let me know in your comment? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! In fact, after a whirlwind week of getting ready for Convention, I plan on finally catching up on my commenting and blog surfing…during my three hour and fifty minute layover in Dallas! It is off to Salt Lake City for me! Now let’s just keep our fingers crossed that my scheduled posts do indeed show up! If you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques that I use, don’t hesitate to email me. I will have access to my email, for sure! Until next time…

Beautiful card Ann! Love the gorgeous embossed background! Thanks for the inspiration!
Just tell everyone one of dogs sneezed on it! Or, a little more elegant – the champagne bubbles popped on it! Sounds much more fun than “dirty” which, of course, is just antiqueing! This is just a fun card from all the fun details and textures, to the quote and the colors.
Have a great time at convention.
Chris R. from Iowa
You know I could not be mad about a little dirtiness on your beautiful card! I still love James, but don’t tell DH!
Hope your pups will all be okay—I am sure Daddy knows how to take care of them; not quite like Mommy, but they’ll appreciate you while you’re gone! Have fun at convention!
I happened to look at The Paper Players blog first this morning and was able to pick out your card before I even noticed the name. ๐ I love the red, white and blue! Good choice any time. ๐
this is so beautiful, I love it
Absolutely stunning Ann! Love your choice of colours & elements (plus the added “dirt”, lol). ๐
These three colors are fabulous and the whole card is very vintage looking. I love that quote too.
Such a beautiful card Ann! I love this color combo. Have a fabulous time at convention!
Ann, I love this beautiful card, my favorite colors (they are our school colors as well as being patriotic!)and those lovely pearls! Have fun in SLC. So sad that I won’t be there, too!
Your gorgeous card will remain our dirty little secret for sure! Not! Love the colors. Have a fabulous time at Convention; looking forward to sharing time upon your return! We got hit with a torrential downpour this a.m.; the bedroom window well in the basement looked like a very dirty aquarium and proceeded to drain into our basement along with multiple other entry spots. Did I not remember that I said I would NOT live in another house with a basement before!! How could I have forgotten!! It is such a reminder of the folks whose homes are seriously flooded. Travel safe and have a ton of fun, Ann!
So pretty, Ann! I love the way you featured the sentiment. Hope you have fun at Convention this week!!
Gorgeous card…love it! Have fun at the convention!
I like it! When I was at UNC, James Taylor’s Dad was Dean of the Medical School there, and James had just come out with “Fire and Rain”. That was the only song I heard that whole semester. Brings back memories.
I need to revisit that stamp set. I hardly gave it a glance. I really like your color choices along with the piercing and the little dirty secret. You really made me laugh with your confession. D
So pretty and shabby chic!! Just love your attention to detail, I want to be you when I grow up!!!
Gorgeous card Ann! Love how you’ve kept a simple layout but added a bit of ‘dirty’ – can’t go wrong with a bit of distressing! Loving that sentiment on the pierced die-cut…
Beautiful. Love your color choices. “Dirty” never looked so good.
I just love this card! While it might have some sponging and spritzing, it still has the CAS spirit with your great layout. The embossing on the base adds wonderful texture. It’s a beauty, Ann!
OH. MY. GOODNESS. This is just STUNNING!!!!
Simply Gorgeous, Ann and the ‘dirt’ is ‘just your style’! We wouldn’t think it was made by you if it didn’t have some type of vintage dirt on it! You have that mastered. ๐ Enjoy your trip to convention and we will look forward to seeing what you have learned when you return.
Hugs!
GORGEOUS!!! I love the way you did this card! Have a BLAST at convention this week!! Wish I could be there!
So pretty! Love the detail, Ann. Have a safe trip. I know you’re going to have so much FUN at convention!
This is very nice. I was a fan of James, too. A little “dirt” never hurt anything. ๐

You have, once again, changed my mind. I don’t like red, white, and blue. But there they are, magically turned into wonderful by you and your talent!
