Field Flowers for the PPA

It’s time to play at the PPA! This week, the Pals at Pals Paper Arts are hosting a Color Challenge with a delightful trio of colors:  Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler.  In preparation for today’s card, I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets, Field Flowers, as well as the new Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper and the new Delicate Designs Folder.  I hope that you enjoy this week’s classic card as much as I enjoyed creating it for you!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Classic Cards

The finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

  • Depth and Dimension! Stamping an extra blossom to snip out and “pop” up on a Stampin’ Dimensional is a perfect way to add depth to the Field Flowers image.  For even more “wow”, adhere it slightly below the original stamped flower!
  • Texture! Zipping the Early Espresso mat through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder creates a mat which draws the eye to the image.

  • The “Wow” Effect! A Cherry Cobbler Delicate Design Scalloped Border, abutted against the textured Early Espresso image mat, adds “wow” for sure!  Of course, the string of Basic Pearls at the interface, is the icing on the “cobbler”!
  • A Double Bow!  A Daffodil Delight Seam Binding double bow is the perfect finishing touch!

For a refresher on how I make these bows, watch this video:

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  I like the “pop” of red with the border.  What about you? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

  5. Wow, this is stunning. You really made that color combo work. Beautiful bow as usual.

  6. I think I forgot to leave you a comment. I was looking at some silk marigolds I have in the bathroom and boy, yours look just like them (minus the dust)! This card is amazing with the colors and how you used them. You had me with the polka dot paper but then, those other details. Such a bright a cheery card. Love it! Love those pearls! I gotta watch the video again and maybe try my hand at the double bow some day.

  10. The flowers are so vibrant, my eyes were instantly drawn to them. Secondarily is the Cherry Cobbler scalloped edge lined with pearls..my, oh my, so beautiful!! Love this card, Anne!

  11. Wow! I think I always say ‘wow’ when I come here, but darn it I’ll say it again! 😉 This has such a marvelous 3D and textile look to it, Ann. It’s beautiful!

  12. I can almost smell that marigold!

  13. VERY pretty!! I REALLY needed this POP of color added to my world today. Not sure if you read my FB post, but my little girl (well….she was 15) kitty had to be put to sleep today. She was in end stage renal failure, and while she was doing good up until a couple of days ago, she really went downhill this morning…and I just couldn’t let her suffer. I pray Brody is doing good! I read all your posts, but since life has really not been kind to me lately, I don’t always have time to respond. I did read that he is playing nicely with Lexi, so that’s good!! I know you will love him and give him a FANTASTIC home for all the days of his furry life!!

  15. Ann, this is just GORGEOUS!!! I love every single thing about it…except for the fact that, once again, you’re making me order a set I didn’t think I needed! 🙂

  16. Love everything about your card, Ann. The colors just “pop”! Thanks again for your inspiration.

  17. Great tutorial on making double bows, Ann! They’re *so* pretty!

  18. Such a lovely card, Ann. Just gorgeous! The detail is, as always, perfect. The square lattice embossing really is a wonderful frame to your focal point. Love that the flowers are popped up with dimensionals. And I just have to get the Delicate Design EF and Large Scallop Edgelit! The pearls on the Cherry Cobbler are truly the icing on the “lace”! Thanks for sharing!!!

  19. Stunning! I think this is one of my all-time favorites. I love the colors, design and again you used a stamp set I love. I need to order that embossing strip so I can case this one too! You are really a very gifted artist. Dar

  20. You’re right. The red border makes the card pop. And your bow, as always, is perfection.

  21. Every card you make is just beautiful. What talent you have. TFS

  22. It’s good to be back home from vacation! I’ve been catching up on what I’ve been missing and as usual Ann, your cards are amazing!!! 🙂 Each and every card you do has it’s own stunning feature whether it’s the color combo, design layout, or embellishment(s)! You are such a great inspiration to me as well as others! 🙂

  23. Wow, Ann. I really like these colours together. Never would have thought of them. The embossed red border adds the extra zing to your card.

  24. I am finally home and going through my email. Love this card. Loved your bow video too! Great colors!

  25. Your flowers look real! And they pop off the page just like your beautiful bow! Thanks, Ann!

  26. That pop of Cherry Cobbler is perfect! Love the string of pearls along the edge too. Beautiful, as always!

  27. Beautiful, sunny, cheery card! Love the pretty flowers and matted texture. The new edge is outstanding and the double bow just finishes it off so nicely. Love this one Ann!

  28. Bow-dacious and beautiful! Those flowers are gorgeous as is the bow……..and that wonderful embossed scalloped edge!

  29. Ann this card is outstanding!!! It looks like one of the recessed frames that you see at Michael’s – I know there is a proper name for them…Oh! Shadow Box! That is what I thought it was when I first looked. I LOVE the impressed frame and the color of the side (cherry cobbler) against the dotties. Wow those Pearly Anns are gorgeous! A whole strip…you are far more generous with yourself than I am. I think I’m a hoarder of these things but maybe I need to stop to create like the above because Ann it is just out of this world beyond! I really love how you impress so much. The cobbler impressed is great. You show off so much of the product that one can’t help themselves! (ok, me!) haha. Also, I watched your video again. It is so well done. I am off to create my cardboard, having written down your dimensions. I really appreciate the speed at which you did it. I had the bowdabra or whatever that sheet was. Oh forget it! all fingers. I made this nailed on board with different spacing that works. BUT I love the versatility of yours, how easy it is to pop into your pocket and take with you rather than a 2×4 piece of wood that is a foot long with 3″ nails in it! haha. Thanks for todays post. Just lovely Ann. xox

  30. Ann WOW! Love this color combo and your card is gorgeous. My mouth is drooling over the long line of pearls. The polka dot DSP is in my current order….Can’t wait. i LOVE polka dots!

    Hugs frenchie

  33. Thanks for the video Ann, I really appreciate it and I think I may break down and make myself the bow maker – I’ve resisted so far but my fingers are getting older! 🙂
I do love your card too, that is one of my favorite flowers and I love that you popped up the image – so easy, but also so easy to forget! Thanks again for sharing your talents with us all.

  34. Perfection in card making as always! Can you share the dimensions in the cardboard as well as the cut out part? Thx.
